But you haven't shown anything of relevance to my mind because ancient cultures did not have the ability to put back into the ground the necessary nutrients for sustained farming. Not to mention I haven't actually seen anything solid to suggest the earth has been left sterile. ??? Could you point me at any info? And you're still ignoring the damage that land farmed intensively for livestock does to the ecosystem. If crops are grown for them then it takes 4x as much arable land to be intensively farmed to provide the same amount of calories. That's more damage to the environment. If grass

Like it or not it's better than mass global agriculture and has been proven through history. And yes we are in imminent danger from lack of soil nutrients. This is only staved of because of chemicals I haven't quite come to the same conclusion as you. Modern farming methods have not featured in history. Chemicals.... you mean like chemicals that cow shit provides? Everything is a chemical no? Not sure why artificially keeping the ground fertile is worse than naturally? Livestock farming as a means of food production is not as efficient as arable, calorie for calorie. So environmentally

I don't disbelieve you about historical crop farming. But we're talking about modern crop farming. We're all set to starve imminently if you are correct. So what if livestock farming doesn't rip the nutrients out of the ground? Does that mean it's good for the environment? Is shortly cropped grass good for ecology? Is huge scale deforestation good for ecology? Is having the bottom eaten out of every hedge and set aside good? Is a calorie inefficient means of food production good? As I have said, I could be convinced by the environmental argument, but it's very complex.

I think plant based foods are 4 times less intensive on the land than animal protein based foods, calorie for calorie. Whether we like it or not vegetarianism does seem better for the environment. That doesn't take into account the actual impact on the environment though, just how productive arable and livestock is in calories per acre. But that's all it has going for it, the health arguments based on life expectancy stats get blown to bits when analysed properly, correcting for all the other factors associated with the general meat eating demographic. Coming back to the environment, is it eve

I've seen first hand the difference it makes. Great hare and partridge numbers for us this year particularly. But here it seems the setaside gets bigger every year, lol.

Now ,,that I like the sound of, ,,,unless of course she's some old wrinkly,,, Or the keepers daughter. It's the Royal McNab apparently. And I think in the true spirit of the McNab, you're supposed to anonymously declare your intentions to the estate before beginning. In the interests of keeping it sporting.

What's the one where you have to bag the laird's wife too?

To be honest, I've always felt that pasture land is just as devoid of diversity. I'm happy to be proven wrong but I don't see any more diversity on livestock land than arable. The most important thing for diversity on any farm is management of set-a-side and hedges imo. That does wonders. Even if pasture is more diverse, if the 4-1 stat is true then technically you could free up 75% of arable land used to produce livestock feed for dedicated wildlife habitat. Like I said, I could buy into that argument. But it's far more complex than that. As it doesn't measure the actual environmental imp

I thought the same when I read this thread.

Is this gonna stop anyone buying a Veedub? Obviously 'cheating is wrong' and we should do what is reasonable to improve air quality but does anybody give the faintest of fucks what comes out of the exhaust of their prospective next vehicle?

We're supposed to be more civilised than 'murdering' our fellow inhabitants of Earth for our own selfish gluttony! I'm quite happy not to embrace such an enlightened level of civilisation! What can I say, I'm just a c**t!

Sounds great, I'd just be happy with a walked up grouse and hill stag. Be a great experience.

Uk Drone Strikes Subject To Legal Challenge By Greens

Oh hang on, looks like the lads at Waddington have just got two new targets.... These people must be cast from the same mold as the defence lawyers that fight for child murderers. -
All good points chaps. I could buy the less impact on the environment argument still though, but as we have all pointed out, it's not as simple or conclusive as the veggies would like us believe. And completely ignores those of us that source a large percentage, if not all, of our meat from hunting. f**k EM.

What's the crack with trapping them legally? I know a couple spots that have them. I assume you need the landowners permission, even on rivers?

Sorry, UG, just reread what you wrote. Historically, arming yourself and then actually taking yourself from a place of no immediate threat (the bedroom) to engage the threat (downstairs) would have been considered illegal, but I'm not sure these days. Didn't the previous justice secretary make quite a clear statement about that and want to clarify the law to allow people to protect their homes against intruders with use of weapons? The Leicestershire couple I mentioned, simply armed themselves with a shotgun and stayed in the bedroom. Like I said, misinterpreted what you said. Either

Excluding b, c, d and e, Martin would have still been f****d. He shot and killed an intruder who posed no immediate threat to his or anybody else's life. Using a firearm is perfectly justifiable legally, but only if there is an immediate threat to life and that level of force was necessary to protect the victim's right to life. Very simply, if an intruder is running away, they present no immediate threat, so to shoot is really taking chances with the courts. I think that all that is bollocks, but that's my understanding of the law. Just because an intruder is running away doesn't mean they

LOL Compared to other top end performance clothing it's not bad. I'm half interested in a smock and over trousers. Even 120 for the waterproof trousers doesn't sound bad when compared to the likes of harkilla etc. Judging by their range of camo patterns they must supply a few different professional forces...

England The End Of The Cla Game Fair
Born Hunter replied to wyeman's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
I really don't think that the UKs premier rural business association struggles with simple marketing strategy? I'm sure if dropping prices was a viable option the people that are involved would have come up with that solution. IMO the retailers just don't make the money that they used to. It's too easy these days to buy anything you want over the net. Maybe go to a fair, find what you want and then get a better price off the net from a company that don't have shop or stall costs. Guns can be RFD to RFD piece of piss. The internet forums are full of reviews on all sorts and returns are a fo -
I saw these guys at the game fair. http://www.fortisclothing.co.uk/ I've heard of them before when they were branded as Country Covers. Their gear seems very good but not parted with cash yet. Anybody have any experience they'd like to share......?
