  1. I think it’s possible to mix modern with traditional personally. But there’s a skill to it. Kim Greentree does it well.
  2. Yeah I’ve found our old rods from years ago. So gonna get it done this week. Didn’t know about the damp cloth trick though.
  3. The chimney is desperate for sweeping and I was scared of burning my house down two weeks after buying it! Haha
  4. Found a farm vet. Sound lad about my age. Dogs out of surgery now and doing alright apparently. Hopefully smooth sailing from now on. I need to be a bit vigilant on what caused it because I can do without the bills and having a dog down bang in the season! Ha
  5. FYI Bladder stone the size of a grape. He’s in surgery now to remove it.
  6. You fighting over who gets the 42 pence and who gets the 43 pence?
  7. Hmmm I need to run this past a vet. But as I say mate it started earlier in the year before he was working at all. I went to the kennel one Sunday morning and there was blood all over, clots of it too. I honestly thought I'd had a kennel fight it was that bad. Got much better but never went away and now with regular work it's made it worse. Cheers
  8. I've had him looked at by two vets mate and it started well before the season tbh. I'll see another vet and suggest what you have said to be sure mate. Thanks
  9. He's been pissing blood for two months or more now and I'm lead to believe it's prostrate. I'm working him quite regularly now and it's just made it worse tbh. A full bladder won't show any blood but when he's near empty it's like watery ketchup! And he feels the need to go all the time, even when totally dry. Poor bugger. Work just exacerbates it. He's the best dog in the world with other dogs or people. I'd really rather not have to but it's not fair to the dog to continue like this. It'd be handy for kenneling him with a bitch but I'd rather deal with that inconvenience that chop a dog
  10. Can I hear from folks who have experience of castrating a mature working dog please? Got a spaniel that’s near 5 which I think is going to need it. Want to hear how it’s likely to affect him from working dog folk. Ideally there’ll be no effect, lol. Only people I know that have done it is hardly describe as dogmen so I really don’t know what to expect.
  11. Why mention it if it was irrelevant? I don’t think anyone is particularly ignoring anything.
  12. Could do with a good tear up in the middle east to threaten the old supply lines tbh! It wouldn't hurt my job security.
  13. Seriously.... you're predicting the rise of national socialism because of the pandemic countermeasures taken? Mate, production and supply chains are fine. We've just got a bit of an idiot problem. It's minor.
  14. My fridge is literally empty bar about 3 ounce of cheddar, 4 spring onions and two pints of milk! Death is surely certain in this post apocalyptic world! If only I had 2 tons of pasta and a shed full of bog roll!
  15. I'd rather go hungry than drop to that behaviour. f***ing idiots.
  16. @toolebox What's the breeding behind you pigdogs if you don't mind me asking?
  17. If you go on google earth, pick a public land valley you'll see the DoC cabins signed. Technology! I expect hunters are about the only people that use most of them. Well outside of the national parks where all the tourists go.
  18. They still have the DoC cabins though don't they? The free to use backcountry cabins. I think that's what he meant? The trapping and poisoning program DoC operates is immense. And as you point out very controversial.
  19. I thought the kiwis were missing a trick not hunting possum at night with small treeing hounds or whatever. The lad I stayed with used to use his springer spaniels to find and kill them in the woodpiles. Seemed not many folks were fussed about small game so it's interesting to read about a kiwi that is. Tbh I'd expect any earthdog from over here to murder possums. You could have a bit of fun at night though I thought.
  20. I'm disgusted! It should be criminal to take a Buff with something so tacky and classless! LOL If I was privileged enough to get a fair chase at one of those I'd want something that at least felt fitting. A nice double maybe.
  21. I'd say Katch is close to the money. Probably something just very pleasant about that spot on that night that drew an array of critters to it.
  22. I can honestly say I've never seen such a diverse mix of large (for this country) mammals all in one heap. Alive that is. Fair play it would be quite a surprise. And a treat.
