Nah you’re right. Maybe wouldn’t hurt to sharpen folks up a bit early on, just to let them know where you stand on things broadly and to keep anything dissenting to themselves or maybe this shoot ain’t the one for them. Call it a baptism. Over the years I’ve fallen out with keepers, land owners, guns, beaters, public etc etc. And I’m a f***ing delight. It just goes with the scene imo. A lot of money and passion makes for emotional times. Going through similar political bullshittery now.

As valid as that might be the sailors marines and airmen who were part of the recent actions would’ve been buzzing. They joined for exactly what has happened over the past few months. The crew of HMS Diamond have dealt with one of the most complex air attacks experienced by anyone since at least the Falklands. You can’t have a military and expect them to be taken seriously or be any good if you will only deploy them when enemy paratroops are descending on British soil.
 -
I think keeping skinny and busy would solve a lot of modern illnesses.
 -
That’s all very reasonable. I care about the topic of this post because the British military is still something to be proud of and I feel using it to maintain supply chains is a just one. We’re interested in the things were interested in. That doesn’t necessarily reflect how important we feel they are.
 -
Do you not think this is comparable, probably much less bold, to when trump with uk and French support carried out strikes against Assad?
 -
Their only concern is the supply chain. And obviously looking important. The social stability of our island doesn’t factor. In fact I’d say from a uk perspective this was purely about looking good to the yanks. We contributed nothing that they haven’t got legions of.
 -
It appears the UK contribution were four typhoons. I assume from Cyprus flying through Saudi airspace? Seems more of a statement of support for the yanks.

	Really lean crewed escorts!
 -
The main outcome of the cabinet meeting should be to build more f***ing escorts.

So far the British strategy has clearly been defensive, with no real offensive strike capability deployed in the gulf. At best they could use naval gunfire. If a carrier was deployed that would make a statement of a strategic shift towards a more offensive posture. Such an operation seems ideally suited to our current carrier strike capability. Its always possible a sub is about with tomahawks but that’s not a particularly sustainable way of striking. Though again it would be a strong statement of an offensive posture.

This just popped up in my feed and thought I’d post it on here. The last of David Stirlings original SAS commandos from WW2 has died aged 103. Major Mike Sadler.

It’s not for everyone. I found it the right length for what they tried to cover in the plot. Seeing many of the fathers of modern physics in a big budget film was good.

The power of the atom would have been unleashed eventually. The only question at the time was how to ensure we had the power too/first. It was an inevitability. I don’t think many would view him as a maniac. IMO nuclear weapons are the sole reason we haven’t had a third world war and conclusively ended the war with Japan years earlier than it otherwise would have.

Oppenheimer, one of the best films I’ve ever watched I think.
 -
From what I’ve read on the push back tactics it’s not a simple solution. Agree with movement on the benefits side. Remove the incentives.
 -
Just what the spin doctor ordered.
 -
The treasury would be fans of that. 177s probably retail cheaper than a 30mm canon.
 -
Maybe it wouldn’t, point is it’d be less costly than bombing a migrant boat.
 -
Tell that to the UN/BRICS/G6 etc when we’re being leathered for dropping munitions on Calais beach! Im not saying I agree but it’s not hard to see the reasons why by the RN aren’t active in the channel.
 -
There’s no real easy options. To do anything more than is already being done would turn the world against the UK. I have absolutely no doubt that 99% calling for the RN to bomb the migrants would regret it once we were economically destroyed by sanctions. Maybe there’s a grey area we can exploit like the Rwanda concept. But that’s about as good as we can expect. Bombing Yemen is politically and legally easy in comparison. And of course economically low risk.
 -
It’s not the patrolling that’s difficult, it’s what you want them to do while on patrol. If the migrants boat were fitted out with ballistic missiles targeting ships in the channel then it would all be very straight forward.
 -
There's only so long the West will sit by playing defence with such a weak aggressor. Striking the Houthi infrastructure directly would be ideal for the UK carriers given their current limitations and the requirements of that job. However, this is an escalation of the Gaza/Iran situations. What with rising tensions with Russia and China it seems the world is getting more and more unstable. Not a time when you want a weak economy and the impact on shipping from this will only hurt ours further.
 -
So the Houthi's are lobbing drones and ballistic missiles at commercial vessels transiting the red sea off Yemen. Western warships are now launching million quid missiles to intercept but can't be everywhere at once and that game gets expensive. Some companies are refusing to transit the Suez/red sea which will drive inflation. A short sharp intervention might be just what the Tories need.

Just the bog standard non lined ones. I wear boots for everything but always handy to have some wellies for kennels or the odd dog walk. The decathlon jobys didn’t even stand up to that. Shame because they were comfy.
