    ok lads/lasses men/women boys and girls i need help. on one of my permission sites (only 7 acres!) a mate of mine took 162 bunnies in a day (rifleman) and just looking at the field and gardens it hasnt even made a dent in the population. the landowner is mate of my dads and is desperate for help from us hunting types. now. the problem is, i have no ferrets anymore, no lurcher and a brilliant gun that is brilliantly broken! you starting to see my problem? i know it is out of season etc but if left these prolifently breeding randy little fuckers will destroy this mans beautiful garden. so,

    specailist at what they were bred to do,a drawing dog. ah, i was thinking they might be purpose bred electricians or something along those lines going back to beddys, obviously they arent as widely used as some other breeds but as far as ability goes how are they? anyone have any pics? are they hard dogs, bayers - i really have very little experience of the breed so any help would be appreciated. cheers, matt

    a hunting mate of mine is looking to replace his 11 year old lakeland/patt for next season(or if necessary the season after) and after having his dog do almost every task he set it, he wants one to follow in old gromits' footsteps. gromit was used in driven shoots to point, beat and occasionally retrieve, he was a foxing dog, hunting to ground and bushing for them. he was an expert ratter and ferreter, could sniff deer a mile off and was a genuine pleasure to be around. don't get me wrong, this dog has his bad point - hes a dominating old b*****d, protective of my mate (his master) and all tha

    one thing worth considering, winkhound is whether or not you will have adequate work for a dog needing so much mental/physical stimulation. i grew up on a farm and all the collies worked every day, all day from a young age. when they couldnt be worked due to illness etc they would practically go crazy. fantastic dogs but need loads of exercise. had a kelpie aswell - amazing animal, hard a f**k, tough as you could hope for and stacks of guts. mate of mine is about to mate his collie bitch to a fine working stud, should throw decent pups. pm me if you're interested.[

    cant say i know the answer to that. perhaps knowing his/her master doesnt want it to, perhaps because even old lurcher and terriermen get a buzz and get excited when they see the quarry and a young dog picks up on the tension and thrill. dont really know, just my thoughts. matt
