  1. what sort of terrain do you boar hunting boys hunt most? is it more dense undergrowth or open chasing? do you use different breeds for different for different terrains? if so which breeds suit which terrain? thanks in advance matt
  2. meg maisey charlie bracken magnum teal
  3. stay away from range rovers where possible mate, disco's are great vehicles, fairly economic, comfy, good off road - overall good vehicles. 2ootdi engine is about as good as you'll get for the money.
  4. a good point scouse moocher im not planning on getting one, just an interesting idea.
  5. well im off to wellbeck in september, studying there for 2 years then joining the royal marines like my old man before me. only difference being i want to join shakey boat afterwards, serve my time and then retire to somewhere deep in the country.
  6. if you had the decency to read my other posts concerning my boxer, you would realise that i fell into owning it, i would never have chosen to get one, but after having one i found out what i was missing. i think you have missinterperated my posts, there are many dogs i would like to own in the future if i had work for them ~ how many people on here have never wanted a dog they havent got? honestly. your reply asking what the breed could bring to the lurcher world seems fairly uneducated as if you knew how well these dogs CAN work you would not have posted that. as stevemac, a man who owns a
  7. sorry, forgot you are the authority on all dogs/hunting and we should never try anyting different because you dont like it... f**k off! if you've got nothing to add to this topic why get involved? its nothing to do with how the dog looks, maybe you breed your dogs according to looks ~ it wouldnt surprise me. the lad asked a question about a breed, not for some wankers big talk about why he doesnt like a breed. dont listen to uneducated ideas about things they know nothing about. if they couldnt hunt, the aussies/yanks wouldnt use them.
  8. someone on here has one, i cant for the life of me remember his name though. i have never seen one in action although i would dearly love to, but i imagine a well bred one could work all quarry in this country, legal or otherwise. there was a thread on them back along.
  9. great looking dog mate, whats it like to work?
  10. good post mate what distancedo the labs run?
  11. how is the fluffy cream-coloured dog bred?
  12. :)i remember some time ago the australian cattle dog crosses were becoming popular ,then seemed to vanish ,what were they like, anyone know? i was born and lived a few years in australia and the cattle dogs around(not always the black and tan)were rough and ready type things, hard as you like, they'd get kicked by a bull and still jump up and tell it whos boss. occasionally abit unstable temperamentally, but all the same, very hard dogs with a feirce loyalty to their master. not very tall dogs but would probably make great crosses. i've had a staghound (deer/grey x (deer/grey going bac
  13. forgot to mention that id love a bull arab someday and a doberman/greyhound (why arent they used?!) a foxhound, a well bred boxer, and richard christians old dog nell ~ what a dog eh?
  14. i would like to own an old style english bull, not the egg headed, stumpy show bollocks we see today, but a powerful and capable hunting bull terrier. OR a dogo argentina (if i had quarry to work it). failing that a nice athletic ridgeback.
  15. doxhope, have you anything to say on the matter? if you're posting mate, any advise would be appreciated by all IMO (having had 1 deerhondx) they need to be mentally mature before they are tested on the harder stuff, but should be allowed to chase bunnies etc to develop the "killer instinct" necessary for the job required. every dog is different and having only had 1 (loved her and would definately have another) im not the best authority on the matter.
  16. without that last pic, i would have said the dog looked overweight maybe just the photo. i wouldn't get one unless the parents are good workers, as the breed has been heavily influenced by show stock shite. it would be great to see someone work these amazing dogs again
  17. i was pleased they were showing more of the real side of it. them terriers had a quick easy dig didnt they?!

  21. thats because retrievers are the best gundogs!! in my biast opinion anyway! in truth though, good working stock has awesome capability, finding the right breder is the trouble...
  22. seen a peregrine hit a pigeon right outside my house. plenty of badgers round me, quite alot of fox, a good number of deer but not CWD. a few years ago i did a few days work picking strawberries to arn me some summer pocket money and in the polytunnels i saw a couple of lizards, sand lizards i presume. oh by the way lads, any sightings of reptiles is great, but do not admit to picking up slow worms, grass snakes etc as its illegal. at the moment i work looking after reptiles etc and see quite a number come in, terrapins, slowys, adders and some others get brought to me to take a look at. onwe
