not seen any working except the occasional rat. in thinking about the breed it seems that modern terriermen have got to the manchester terrier too slowly, therefore leaving it wide open for the kennel club . ive never heard of anyone breeding them for function nowadays. shame really as the look like they could be handy little dogs. they go like shit off a shovel as well.

Opinions on working staffords?

come on stabs - lets have a couple of pics of your lovely staffs! some of the guys on here have brilliant examples of what a staff SHOULD be. as stabs mentioned, a decent staffy should find a scent, follow its trail, chase, catch and kill their intended quarry. as well as this they can make fine beating/bushing dogs, great companions and not bad pickers' up. IMO its foolish to get a staff, intending to work it and expect it to be a world beater. they just aren't. fact. a good spaniel bushes as well if not better, a good patt(or other) works fox as well, if not better, a good hound follows a -
i think part of the reason that ebt's in their purebred form aren't particularly good hunters is because they were never bred to hunt - just baiting and fighting i believe? perhaps someone with abit more knowledge on the breed could help us out. crossed to hunt bred dogs they ebt can add tenacity especially when fighting an animal (fox etc), they add alot of pain resistance as the breed has a very high pain threshold. unfortunately ebts are often stubborn as feck and prefer to do their own thing if they think theyre right. ive seen one or two decent crosses though.

Sorry, didnt realise you were the authority on all things to do with working terriers. ok, lets see your dogs... do you have dogs? "any useless mutt from any animal shelter can kill a rat chase a rabbit" actually, im quite pleased my dogs can and do do that. and i disagree with that statement, i doubt a shitzu could dot that, or infact a pomeranian, or even a chow chow. "little minds who are satisfied with having untested useless squirel and rabbit chasing working terriers ." clearly you havent read the thread properly as if you had, you would realise that noone who has said

ive had a caiman, countless snakes, monitor lizards etc - work in a reptile shop so i can choose anything i want! for the caiman i had to get a D.W.A which cost me 219 of my well earned pounds!

i dont know about that mate, but they've got some mean looking hats!

all my dogs get different amounts of food, in fairness they are all different breeds, but all get different amounts of exercise. my terrier, now retired gets the least, shes on beta light biscuits mixed with raw meats. the retriever, in working season gets working diet biscuits mixed with raw meat/fish etc, but when not working only gets a little less as we're out almost every day with the dummy launcher. the boxer gets the most food because he does the most exercise. even out of hunting season he charges round fields, gets into fights, chases everything and anything he can find (he is stock b

went out with it on the boxer yesterday, it stood up to pulling tyres, wresting other dogs, cramming himself down foxholes in a vain attemp to get at reynard. and looks brilliant aswell, which is the only reason i bought it ive only had it 2 days, but im sure it'll outlast my dogs. and perhaps me aswell

well done boys, we may have just destroyed a potential hunters thirst and drive to carry on our sport and pioneer it to uneducated twats. mind you, if he is an anti, good riddance! i hope he falls down a drain and dies. only if hes a low-life anti though...

here is my boxer, as you can see hes a smaller build to your bitch, but true to form he never stops and is a tough f**k, espescially when on the job. posted a couple of these a while back, but ill take the camera out again soon! the hounds at one of OUR duck/geese lakes - your not the only one, kiwi me old fruit! and here's wellyface after a long course chasing a bunny. needless to say he didnt catch it!

i thought it right to share with you all just how chuffed i am at the harness strong stuff made for me. last week i gave him the measurements, on thursday i sent the money and now it is on my dog. this man has been a joy to deal with, and is a good honest dogman to boot. cheap prices for fantastic products, even after hearing such good reports of him and his business i was surprised! the harness fits my dog a treat and no matter how hard i/we (the dog) try it will not break. once again mate thankyou for your great service, you have a lifelong customer here.

--> QUOTE(Dawn B @ Mar 27 2007, 02:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have to agree Topper, maybe a mod can close it? perhaps if a mod not desperate for an argument has the patience to read through some of the utter drivel posted, then we may get a result. chief; i own and have worked for her entire life a now retired jrt. she dug a maximum of 10 times, but for the same reason as dawn and the fact that she was a rescue with a huge prey drive and no sense could not dig to her. however, i did keep her and worked her in exactly the same way dawn has with her border? does this make me

not wishing to delve too deeply into your personal life mate but sleepwalking and night terrors etc can be caused by drugs earlier on in life. being the rebelious teen i was, i was affected by it but you can be prescribed pills for it (i told the doc where he could put his pills - look how ive turned out! ). also psychological trauma/traumatic experience can start it off, even if its years since the event. just in case you were wondering, i learned that last bit off sleep doctors... i dont think dancing naked with dogs is a particularly normal thing to do in your sleep though.

so up to 3 hours a day? IMO thats too much for such a young pup. an old dogman, now dead would walk his pups 1 mile a day once they reach 6 months, then gradually build it up. he only kept deerhounds though... what breed is the pup? smaller breeds mature faster, but even so that still sounds too much.

you sure it wasnt bigfoot?
