  1. i think a terrier should go to ground and be able to hunt, and not go to ground unless told to do so. in my case my terrier wouldnt go to ground but shes a brilliant hunting dog. never have to worry about her going to ground. dont worry "die~hards" she has been spayed
  2. it is mate, i try not to take it for granted as i fear it wont last i grew up sailing, climbing trees, playing with my dogs in the fields/river etc. one day if if i have kids i want to move back here
  3. a chocolate lab working! how is he compared to other labs? ive only ever seen one other choccy lab working. great looking dog mate :thumbs-up:
  4. does anyone use scissors? i cut my retrievers coat every 2 weeks-a month as she goes through everything and if i dont she picks up anything on offer in her fur. lovely thick fur though, she bounced off barbed wire the other day at almost a gallop and diddnt get cut at all.

Seen a few out feeding today Surrey and Hants borders..........right by a sand quarry while the machines were working.........think the feckers knew that I had a broken dog in the back of the landy Wonder if there is many in the West Country?.......... Nice to know you have a few near Si J not an awfull lot in my patch of the westcountry seeing as im right on the water but still a good, solid number about. the ones that are around cause alot of damage to crops/gardens etc. do muntjacs make tunnels through undergrowth, crops etc? reason im asking is because my boxer has recent

God, how I wish we had places like that around here! cheers ds, i have never caught a mink and neither have my dogs, but we have tracked what im sure is mink up these esturies for days, me in the canoe, the dogs on the bank and the water ~ i pride myself on how good my dogs noses are but, there you go.my idea of heaven mate
  8. good day out and nice pics mate your dog could do with losing abit of weight though
  9. do the parents work? have you got any pics of the dam and sire?
  10. at 9 1/2 months now, my pup has started her training and is coming on well, had a few retrieves to the air rifle etc. i dont usually shoot over a dog so young but she seems very mature and is coming on in leaps and bounds. i haven't got an up to date photo, ill take one soon but heres her a couple of months ago 3 and 1/2 months ago does anyone else run goldie x's or purebreds? she will hopefully pick up on shoots and stalk deer, aswell as helping out on the farm etc
  11. ah i see now. i thought he was running it at a shoot at 14 weeks i understand introducing it to shots and the experience before it gets too old. how old do you show yours live game? in my experience a young pup will want to mouth and chew a bird, so ive lways left it to abit later.
  12. heres my terrier teal, she isnt a ground dog, as she never made the grade, but shes a brilliant companion for the pup and is one of the best terriers i've seen for bushing, ratting, ferreting etc as she uses her brains more than most. not the toughest or ugliest terrier, but nice and fast, brainy, got a good nose and is mine! cant complain!
  13. stunning looking dogs! just out of interest, how do you find them obidience wise and out hunting?
  14. iv finally figured out how to put pictures up, so heres a few from my area. views from my balcony. out exploring camped here for a night last summer ill upload some more as soon as possible
  15. nice looking terrier mate, whats his breeding?
  16. ok ill admit it, im a dipshit! lol didnt really get what your on about ds maybe when im abit more awake, but try this. haha done it! have some more pics now! you are going to be inundated with 'em! theres a story behind this one; i didnt know what she'd found at first, but after abit of time sniffing and poking around she dived in, out shot a squirrel. foolish animal went straight into the awaiting jaws of my pup! very out of shape in this pic, but still a nice one methinks my small dog showing the pup how to find and follow a scent. a nice
  17. i love jack russells heres mine, not awfully big but slightly leggy with a good turn of speed. never made it underground, but kept her anyway and had her spayed. as far as bushing etc shes brilliant. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o127/th...r676/my_jrt.jpg
  18. i was gettin all excited! bitch!
  19. gorgeous dog mate :thumbs-up: how many dogs do you own at present?
  20. great dogs simoman :thumbs-up: do you still do much manwork?
  21. the jrt has caught a few foxes in the undergrowth etc, but is much better ferreting and ratting as she uses her brain more than most terriers. shes got a great nose and has so far never marked wrong. the pup is catching on quickly with such a good instructor, but shes also learning her place. they have a great system when ferreting and rabbitng, where the terrier gets in amongst and either grabs them or pushes them to the pup. what do you guys think? ill try to get some working pics up, but bringing a camera whilst hunting is usually not top prority.
  22. heres a couple of pics of my pack, the jrt never made the grade underground, so i had her spayed and kept her doing all else. shes great at ratting, ferreting and bushing and she also takes alot of stick from the pup. not a terrier but heres my future gundog aswell. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o127/th...r676/my_jrt.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o127/thehunter676/jrt.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o127/th.../a_squirrel.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o127/th..._months_ago.jpg ill explain the pics tomorrow ~ off to watch desperate housewives!
