Wait, just remembered my mate got a pitchfork stuck in his foot trying to kill a rat. It was f*****g hilarious, not as bad as it sounds though but I am surprised it didn't get infected -

shot in the back of the knee with an air rifle, dropped me like an effeminate sack of poo. It was the most painful at the time because it flexed when I walked. But then I have been zapped in the balls with an electric fence which was more embarrassing (three in a row, with me stuck half way like a twat). I pretty much just shame myself and lose the respect of my peers for most of the time, never had an arm off or anything -
I think you could working in the same room as someone and be paid differently. Or that has been the case in the last place I worked, some people were getting 9k a year more than others and ironically they were the ones that were shittest at the job.

Oh aye, plasterers lead a charmed life mate. Piss easy to work 40/50/60 hours a week flat out up and down ladders, hop ups and scaffold while carting buckets of shit with you all day every day then slapping it on the walls. Paying for labourers, fuel, kit & knackering your muscles and bones up in the process! They earn every penny! I wasn't saying it wasn't hard work, but I don't consider that to be bad money at all. I work 45 hours plus 3 hours a day commuting that costs a fortune in fuel. But I sit in a shitty boring office wasting away and getting fat for just enough money

I need to change jobs, I can't believe people are complaing they can only make £500 a week instead of fecking 1000's...what world are you all living on? Or does that not factor in all the overheads to get the work in the first place, marketing etc? Either way I want to be a plasterer

I was out sea fishing a couple of years ago,the skipper cooked a few different fish for us,i said, theres a worm in that one.He just laughed and said, they all have worms! I had to dissect a few fish in uni and I remember finding hundreds of tiny white worms in all of them that we were meant to be learning about and things. Well I assumed they were specifically chosen for this (left off ice or something), I felt a proper tit when I found out they were all from Tesco that morning .

Marketing, does anyone on here work in the industry?

I used to work for Google, as an adword account manager. If you want any advice getting your website to come up for searches ie "shepherds hut for sale" let me know. So first word of advice, get a website and make sure it is a good one, seldom do people buy from a website that looks home-made if you know what I mean. There is absolutely no point spending money on getting people to your website if it isn't going to convert them in to sales, which sounds obvious but it is amazing what people represent their businesses with and the cash they have to do it. -
In his defense, I agree with a lot of sentiments but his underlying message seems to be about breaking a dog down, so it fears mistakes. I agree with what you say, you can correct a dog but it is pointless not matching it to the individual. I don't see any benefit in dozens of small corrections when a single one with meaning sets the boundries, which is what Leerburg is saying but he takes it too far imo. So a collie needs a look, whereas a patterdale might need a slap on the arse to get anywhere to use breeds as examples. But he uses the same techniques with pet dogs as he is using with his w

well never seen the vid, but he sounds like he trains on over the top (dominance)=fear . When dogs are scared of you, they never really work well for you, they have one eye on you all the while, so they dont get hit .! and dont work proper . And ive had it with dogs, that you have come to heavy on them and they (never) forget, so the dog never works proper. You got to i think be in control of the dog, but be fair with it. The best way to train a dog is with your mouth, not a kick up the arse or wack round the head, when things go wrong, and they do with all dogs as they grow up .Bryn

I have been watching a few dvds by 'Leerburg' and I think he is missing out on this key skill. All of his training seems to be about breaking a dogs spirit, with his reprimands being very harsh for the offence. His dogs will behave or get physically hurt and fear the pain (he uses shock collars and pronged collars for everything it seems) so he and others like him think because they get quick results they are training well. But even on his dvd he shows a dog turning on him and warns a lot about a dog turning on its handler after a strong correction. Another dick-move is when he advises to keep

I got my mrs to cancel her payments to the RSPCA, after pointing out where the money really goes. I am not sure they are better than nothing, because if people stopped giving to these massive corporate charities then the smaller ones that don't pts everything they can get their hands on might be able to do a little bit more. I only donate to the Wilflife trust for now, they seem good to me as they are all about preserving habitat which makes sense and gives everyone somewhere to walk their dogs too.

You're taking food? Don't forget your tampons too then you big girl. Nah, should be good. How much of your own food are you planning on acquiring though, is it mostly the camping part that is the challenge?

Personally I think the lungworm thing is just a scare to sell more drugs. I am very bitter about it though since my rottweiler had similar symptoms, he was fine in himself but had a cough that wouldn't go away. I was given loads of lungworm drugs and painkillers for weeks/months and I got the same disgnosis from several vets. Well eventually I had him xrayed and he had cancer, not lung worm. All the time spent pissing around selling the most expensive drugs ever did nothing to help him, just put me in debt and he had to be put down in the end. I was already pretty distrusting of vets, but now

I bet there wasn't so many ways to claim benefits 100 years ago, or people suing and claiming for everything. Or so many public sector workers doing f**k all to benefit anyone

there is quite a nice arboretum (sp?) with a falconry centre in North Yorks, it's a nice place to do a course if you haven't been on one already. I did a day course there when I was about 13 before doing a week course elsewhere but I wish I could have done it there. The IFF is a good forum you should find someone there, but I would try and prove you know what you are doing before hand or you might not get a good reception like Buch says

lurcher and terrier kennelled together
Ratreeper replied to NATACC's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
"but why can't a learned response be interpreted as a grudge? If someone hurts me, I might be entitled to bear them a grudge, but you could also say that my attitude is a learned response." A grudge means not reacting immediately, a dog will always react the moment something happens. A dog that has been attacked by another has learned to fear it, so when it sees it again it might very well immediately attack to defend itself. If however it didn't immediately attack but acted calmly, then attacked at an opportune moment I would class that has holding resentment if there was no trigger made -

Agreed, some dogs might want to attack but will respect the rules you give them. But I disagree this is resentment/a grudge, your dog reacted immediately to the other lurcher as expected (that is when dogs react). Then the other lurcher rationally learnt to fear your short-tempered lurcher and reacted accordingly in the future, again immediately. I would agree it was a grudge if you witnessed your bitch get crashed in to, then later on that day decided to attack the other lurcher for the first time. You would have to see this happen a few times to be sure what was the cause though.. -
Shouldn't be too warm in the evening, but I would be worried about them over-heating before then if it was me. Can you leave the doors wide open without risking them getting nicked? If you can't then I wouldn't bother to be honest, it winds me up seeing dogs in cars at Tesco...

That's class, how did you do that?

I generally agree with what you say, but since when do dogs hold a grudge? I have never known anything like it, they might remember getting hurt but I think you are being anthropomorphic if you think a dog will hold a grudge against another dog. I would say that if a dog thinks another dog has crossed the line it will attack straight away and sort it out, then the balance has been restored and they carry on. I don't think dogs hold any resentment towards a leader dog, they know their place and live from day to day. I think you're wrong there bud, and I think they hold a resentment against
