  1. Try and put it in to perspective before the usual media-fueled tantrums kick in. They are sending back a tiny amount of money, they aren't exactly looking down on everyone and taking the piss on 26k a year benefits. They are trying to give their families a better life, the same thing I would do if I was unlucky enough to have born in a shithole country like most people. You can respect them for living in squalor so their families can reap the rewards thousands of miles away, even if you disagree with how our government deals with the issues of immigration. So simple solution, send them all
  2. You are right, legally any caught vermin should be culled. But if any sad f****r wants to try and prosecute me for not killing a caught magpie based on this, then that is fine with me. Who hasn’t seen a wildlife programme on TV where they aren’t releasing foxes, grey squirrels and other pests? I don’t feel obligated to follow laws that are daft. Just because they are vermin there is no law saying you have to kill them, except grey squirrel and mink. all others can be legally released with the land owners consent rabbits, rats, foxes etc should not be released by law mate
  3. I got my first air rifle at about 12, then everything spiralled out of control from there after I got my first permission (biked a few miles to a farm who happened to be a nutter and was fine with a 12-13 year old shooting alone on his land). Was ferreting everywhere then got my first bird of prey at about 14-15 which got me involved with lurchers too. Still never owned my own lurcher (24 now) due to one thing or another but its the next move
  4. It was a Jackdaw matey, we had him through the summer and Autumn and he was very tame but as the winter came he started distanceing himself from us.........he then took up sleeping in a neighbours conifer tree rather than the shed. He stayed in our street til the following year but although quite steady around people he would fly off when they got too close. I'd say the folowing Spring he disappeared but not sure whether he'd died or moved on. don't know why I said Jay, I knew what I meant though . So he was free to come and go? Did he learn the routine of when he would be fed etc
  5. none of my business, but why did you buy this dog in the first place? It looks a nice dog, but sounds like it has spent its life sat in a kennel whilst you worked your 4 others...what's the point? It completely baffles me when people say they are 'over dogged'.
  6. apparently starlings are pretty good at it too, beethoven was a fan (I think bach also based a song on a starlings song). How long did you have that little Jay for Tuzo, I remember seeing that photo on here before which was a long time ago. Did it fly away in the end? Which seems to be a common theme. I am as excited as a child about this, so I hope it goes well .
  7. how long did you keep it before you 'moved it on'? I am going to try and avoid the screaming the same way you do with birds of prey, not let it associate me as the food provider.

  9. I know there have been a few threads about stories of owning a pet crow/magpie/jay but I was wondering if anyone has tried tame hacking? Tame hacking is a falconry term really, but I think a better description for what I want would be to keep a magpie like a pigeon. So you have an aviary/nest box but the bird is free to come and go as it pleases, returning for food, but in my example would remain hand tame. So this is what I want to experiment with this year, around Mar/April time when I can get a brancher. I will tame it and train it, but keep it in a nest box so it can come and go bu
  10. never seen anything like that before...I have seen a bear ride a motorcycle on a tightrope, a goat balancing on an egg cup with a monkey on its back...but not that!
  11. You do know that's a polecat yup. a European Polecat... a lot bigger than domestic ones, and a necessity for game bird protection in pheasant pens.. Does serious damage if left uncontrolled. I thought they were protected? Without a license at least, or is that only for certain methods?
  12. I agree, even seems to have a longer tail in those photos
  13. The green and blue are the same colour. It is a good reminder of how easily deceived humans are, that what you swear you saw can be bollocks and further to that how false memories can seem real. In a similar way we only see a tiny spectrum of light, of objects of certain sizes and only hear a few sounds. So to sum up, an optical illusion can make you feel very very small and the next time you hear of eye-wintess evidence it makes you wonder...
  14. I wouldn't call everyone a twat, but I agree with your sentiment. I don't understand the mentality of someone complaining they have to start paying taxes the same as everyone else, unless they don't use the NHS etc that tax money pays for which I would bet they all do. What is the difference between deciding to be a builder or deciding to be a nurse etc? Why should one not pay as much tax as the other? Doesn't sound right to me...But I also these are the first to complain about immigrants or others on benefits, hypocrites
  15. Out of interest how many out of 20,000 british people would you expect to be so incredibly f****d up in their world view? We have plenty of chavvy, gangster wannabe, racists but they wouldn't go as far as worshipping terrorists and paedophiles. But I agree, the video is going to be biased if it comes from the EDL, but that is obvious. So for the sake of fairness why not compare the average misogynistic, holy war pleading, brainwashed and segregated british muslim? The younger generations being far more 'extremist' than their elders who follow the hateful preaching like the wiggers follow hip

  17. There are quite a lot of chavvy types like that about in some areas. Definitely you wouldn't venture in to the wrong streets in certain towns. 18. I am almost inclined to give the benefit of the doubt on this, as all you are all really debating is if the police are incompetent. I believe the police are certainly capable of incompetence in instances such as this and far, far worse. It could also be plausible that some coppers in the darkest countryside are used to shooters and get regular complaints, so they don’t feel compelled to follow procedures and call for help for too. People all remember the times the helicopters get called in for a reason, because it doesn’t happen very often. Who is keeping tabs and telling their mates about
  19. Curry has to be my favourite, nothing better than garlic naan covered in chicken madras... But I probably have a top ten that swap around. I am hungry now just thinking about it, I am destined to be a fat b*****d one day I love food too much.
  20. I do get your point, but that article is only 4 days old and I had only just seen it as it had been posted yesterday on Richard Dawkins' website. The point is that Europe in general is becoming more and more lenient to this kind of thing, if any British citizen beat their wife it wouldn't just be put down to 'culture' but it is swept under the rug in the face of religion, which I think is wrong. What happens in our close neighbouring EU countries can be seen as a warning to what can happen here, and we already have Sharia courts etc where women can't get a divorce from violent husbands. Then y

  22. Well everyone has an opinion so I am not looking to force mine on you. But in response, no I am not a member of the BNP or EDL. I am not a mindless racist, I just found the article on a reliable site and since i had relevance to dog owners in a country with an ever increasing Muslim presence I thought it would be of interest. I have (well had, not seen them in ages) Muslim friends, yet there was always friction due to the way they perceived women so I never got very close to be fair. I know it's cultural, I know you form opinions on right and wrong due to how you are raised. But, I cannot
  23. I don't think he was doing it right though, you are supposed to get almost close enough for the strike/shot and the rabbit is supposed to run for cover Well that's how I do it and I am always right..
  24. Is anyone else struggling to form an opinion either way? It seems bloody complicated to me...I am not stupid but I just can't decide what is right or wrong in this situation. How do you decide who owns what? Because at some point every piece of land has been claimed and conquered by a nation, but now the world has all been claimed does geographics have relevance? Genuine question, because if it does then who is going to be able to claim the poles, surely just being near doesn't give anyone the right to claim it? Can America claim the moon, I know one nutter wants to colonise it in the next 8 y
