  1. They've been a pound a rabbit ever since the 80s ?
  2. Exactly, the farmers I shoot rabbits for just want them all shot , its pest control. I don't use thermal or nv just lamp so although I shoot good numbers there is always a breeding stock left. Every year seem to be the same numbers , I am pleased when they get lamp shy as I know I will have some future shooting. Jealousy is a terrible thing , if you dont have rabbits local you need to travel , which is what I did for many years often involving a 200 mile round trip just to shoot / ferret rabbits.
  3. My Foxpro has it's own bag to carry it in which I also use to place the caller on top to keep off the ground. It has pockets to keep spare batteries in etc and I always keep a carrier bag in there too in case it starts to rain , place the caller inside the carrier bag and carry on.
  4. Still a red squirrel stronghold up there , pity you have seen greys. Used to see them all the time when I was younger until I saw my first grey up here in 1992.
  5. Just checked out some stubbles and nothing about due I think to the blistering heat. Anyway I thought I would go for a wander looking for vermin. As predicted nothing much about and I was totally goosed when I got back to the car. I did manage my 2nd squirrel of the year ? and a magpie so not a total waste of time.
  6. I've called hundreds with my hand but struggle to copy dog fox mating call or chicken distress ??????????
  7. What's the story with the fox bolting and getting away?
  8. It's not a magic wand but a lot of foxes have met their demise due to the Foxpro. If mine broke today I would buy another immediately as its thats good , cant imagine going out without it.
  9. What a great night , 1 better than us. I was calling and spotting and my mate was behind the rifle. 3 in 15 minutes ?
  10. I also work on foot , not heavy and well worth the investment. ?
  11. I use a Foxpro and wouldnt go out without it , its brilliant. I would get very few foxes without it as usually blind calling and it sometimes has an instant response sometimes an hour later. The variety of calls is what sets it apart from hand calling etc ....mating calls , cub calls , chicken etc. We shot 3 last night , 2 were called out of a wood using the cub call so to me it's a valuable piece of kit , only wish I had bought it a lot sooner. Also if 1 call isn't working I chop and change and sometimes the response is instant.
  12. Looks like it's been a week of misses, never mind it happens, thankfully not too often ?
  13. How much was he prepared to pay per fox out of interest ?
  14. Paid to shoot foxes , my God that's a dream job. Out tonight, I will be glad just to see one never mind get one ?? ?
  15. Always said your Southern Foxes are stupid and easier to get than their Northern cousins ?????????
  16. Poachers , poachers , poachers .....last 3 nights out on 3 different farms and I have witnessed poachers lamping. Last night I had been set up calling on the stubbles when a vehicle with no lights on came tearing up the farm road with lamps scanning. I flashed my red torch at them and they just shone a big white lamp in my face and carried on up the road turned round and lamped me on the way out ????? Luckily they got nothing but later on there was a few roe out on the stubbles they had lamped so safe for another night but I know they will be back .
  17. Is that 103 this year mate , awesome amount. I've had 20 in comparison, foxes pretty scarce up here. Out last night saw none.
  18. You won't regret buying the Foxpro, awesome piece of kit. Look out Mr Fox ?
  19. As said great read with a great result , look forward to the account at the caravan site.
  20. Left the foxes alone last night ? and went after bunnies instead. Strange night last night as it was darkish and a little breeze but the rabbits had decided on a night in , didn't see as many as expected and finished on only 10 ....
  21. What you doing up in beautiful Northumberland
