  1. Popped up to see a farmer today who said I could shoot the rabbits. Not a big place but lifting with rabbits , he said I could go in a 60 acre field today as he had squared it up with the keeper who lives right next to it. The keeper shot 450 out of this field last winter I was told. Anyway I hobbled around the field as I sprained my ankle the other day , christ it was hard work. I ended up shooting 19 rabbits and told the farmer I would lamp it soon but he said that the keeper shoots it , couldn't believe it , so cant see the keeper letting me shoot it. STRANGE ? Anyway I can lamp the other
  2. I've heard no calling but that's not unusual up here.
  3. Good work but it is his job ? Seems to be plenty triples getting shot at the minute.
  4. 2 about 100 yds the 3rd about 150 yds.
  5. For someone called Manuel , you look terribly ill ????? Class Fawlty Towers
  6. Aye it was a great night , the 4th one was very lucky. Not my foxes these were on a mates shoot. I was talking to one of my farmers and he told me about another 100 acres I can go on so will have a look there soon ?
  7. 6pm last night I received a text from my mate "what you up to " . It turned out that he had seen a fox the previous day on his shoot. So arranged to meet him at 7.30. Set up on some bales and started with the cub call , 6 mins in and a dog fox came in nicely . 5 mins later with the vixen mating call and a vixen came up the track behind us through the hedge and into the field , no 2 in the bag . Continued calling and a 3rd fox appeared but a long way off and lost sight of it but was sure it was on it's way in. After what seemed an age it came out of a game crop and headed to the caller but unfo
  8. Yep mate you're right there , met loads of crazy cat ladies over the years. They are very eccentric and weird ?
  9. That's a nice big fox but why take the HMR, should have taken something more suitable. I dont like the HMR on foxes rather take the .243. I know it can do the job but find it not the best tool in the box?
  10. Well done Dave , that's some mighty fine shooting ?
  11. I didn't think the duck would fly as haven't seen them up myself so told the guns not to expect much. Made a fool out of me they flew very high , great shooting. We took a few then watched them come back in , they were flying in all directions. Makes your day when you drop a couple of screamers ?
  12. Well it was the 1st shoot today but unfortunately the weather hadn't read the script. It was misty and drizzle all day so consequently never saw as many pheasants as was expecting but we had a bonus first thing as there was some 70 greylags on a stubble which we managed to drive over the guns with the youngest member (14) taking his 1st goose ? Luckily our ducks flew great and I took a couple of screamers which I was chuffed with. We still flushed quite a few pheasants but they never really flew due to being soaked. Hopefully get a dry day next shoot and bagging a few more pheasants.
  13. Stubbles today had thousands of pigeons on but 1 shot and they lift as a big flock. We all know that its usually a waste of time trying to shoot them like this.
  14. After 3 days of non stop rain eventually today was dry enough for a walk out with the pup. He seemed to be hunting a little better than last time and flushed a few for me. Hes taken an interest in the squirrels too , nose down and on a mission ? 4 pheasants for 4 shots today so pleased with that ? 1st shoot on Saturday looking forward to it.
  15. Great stuff SL , been raining non stop for 3 days here so have cabin fever. Bet you were chuffed picking one up next to the pen.?
  16. Could you send it to me as well.please. I will PM my number thanks
  17. Nice one Dave , he does look a lump. Been having cabin fever here not stopped raining for 3 days but drier today.
