Me too can't stand being indoors. This weather is a real pain though , wet , wet ,wet . Drying up over weekend so should get out , feeders all to fill on Sunday. Anyone out on the 1st for the ducks/geese ?
I am not a fan of clays either but one of the lads in our shoot has 4 traps and puts on simulated days. I did one and it was great fun apart from burning your hands on the barrels , I fired 250 cartridges in 1/2 an hour.
Just been out for a shine. Raining when I arrived so sat it out until it stopped. 1st field and spotted a fox sitting on edge of cover , turned out to be vixen cub. Saw another in next field but just couldn't get a shot , it was like daylight by now and dead still.
It's ironic that the dog men get so upset at hares being shot when it's the only legal method available along with snaring. I seem to recall that a Hunting Act was passed in 2004 which conveniently gets forgotten.
Yep hares are classed as game and as such cant be taken on a Sunday or Christmas Day in England and Wales , Scotland differs. I wouldn't have taken your pic down but I do understand that posting pics of hares always creates friction from the dog man fraternity. When you say they are vermin I think you mean that is how some farmers see them but legally they are game.
Great result lads , my mate has just ordered an FX crown. 25 cal souped to eighty ft/lb . Cant wait to see some bunnies getting shot at long range as that is his forte.
How did you manage to get a cormorant licence and how many can you cull ? My mate leases a stretch of salmon river and says impossible to get a licence.
We are keeping an eye out on a field where the headlands have been left barley stubble and sown with turnips. Been watching for a few nights and a few mallard knocking about plus some geese knocking about too. Hope they start on the field when the turnips come through as were on it last week. ?
