  1. As always, Craig f**k 'em if they can't take a joke
  2. It's a funny old place this internet, ain't it Ron?? I've had a good few dealings with folks from this site and for the most part I've not really had many problems but what really pisses me off is when folks don't have the common courtesy to even say 'thanks' for trying to help them out weather it's a reply to a problem posted on the 'net or something else. Silly little things... For example I've sent daft little stuff through the post like dust covers and lense caps I've had spare to folks who've not had the decency to even reply and say 'ta', to one muppet whose Air Arms Camargue I'
  3. As has been said above, neither gun's better than the other. The only one's that's best is the one that feels right in your shoulder Try and handle or preferably shoot them both for yourself, then decide. It's down to you and no one else, both are first class. Edit to add... As for caliber? It's like asking which side should a boiled egg be broken, blunt end or pointed Everyone's got their own opinion and none of them are right
  4. What's that under the door stop in the second pic??
  5. Those groups do look pretty scattered, Skot, and after all those pellets it should be well and truly settled down by now. Do you have another scope you can try? Not wishing to be a doom monger but sometimes if a springer's been dieseling it can feck up scopes quite badly. My offer still stands, if you want me to take a look at your rifle then just give me a shout
  6. Get hit by an air rifle pellet then by a crossbow bolt and see if you can figure it out... That still doesn't make it illegal to own one, only hunt with one. I've a Barnet Quad 400 and the things bloody stupidly powerful. I bought it on a whim a few years back and it's been sat in a cupboard gathering dust pretty much ever since. I'd love to be able to use it for hunting though, I would imagine it'd be a useful tool for killing foxes around release pens, for example......
  7. Total waste of money to buy one especially for an airgun, IMO, but you can get them. Same as .17HMR.
  8. There's some decent folks on here, Skot I've only met a few but those that I have I consider to be my friends. I'll have a look at your rifle anytime mate, just give me a shout on here via PM.
  9. Skot, I've just noticed you're in Bradford. I'm only just over the way in Leeds. If you get stuck, give me a shout
  10. That's a new one on me, mate and it's a bloody high mag for pretty much any rifle let alone an airgun. I can't see it being much use at the kind of ranges we shoot, you'll have a very narrow field of view never mind focusing issues. I have owned a couple of Walther branded scopes however, and to be honest I don't really rate them They just seem to be trading on the strength of their name. Both broke under normal field conditions. Not very well built at all......
  11. Don't put any more oil down your barrel!!!! Just clean it through, and put some shots down it 'til it clears
  12. A little oil in the barrel won't cause the problem as you've described. You've got oil in the compression chamber, and that's what's giving you problems. Short of stripping the gun down and cleaning it out the only solution is to keep on shooting it until it's cleared out. This doesn't happen in PCPs generally, only springers.
  13. The older 77 all day long. Modern HWs are good but the older ones are better made. Forget the Lightning, they're shite.
  14. It's a decent enough rifle in it's own right but it's really nothing more than a basic 95 with a fancy stock. Unless you're a funny shape and need all the adjustments then don't bother. Stick to the 95 and save some money.
  15. I also had a look at the Nikons and they're a lovely looking and very well screwed together bit of kit. I like the fine rets on them personally but I can understand how some folks wouldn't like them. Another scope I think is worth a mention for the money are the Redfield Revenge range. I've not tried one first hand but I've heard very good things about them.
  16. Thanks for the reply. The stocks are similar but not the same, the trigger assembly on the 90 is rather different to the and the cut outs are not the same..... Shame, but thanks anyhow
  17. The scope I ended up going with was the Hawke Map Pro MP 4-16x50 AO from Simon. It's a few years old and was bought from Guns International in Wakefield when they went bust. What swung it for me me was the nice simple SR6 ret that's very similar to the 30-30 and generic rets that I'm used to and also the fact that Simon almost gave the thing away The Mamba's are a properly nice bit of kit though and if it hadn't been for the price, it's probably the scope I'd have gone for but even then not by much. Thanks for the help on that one, Davy Cheers.
  18. My 410c shot best with H and N FTTs, it also grouped very well with Logun Penetrators but they cost a feckin' fortune and seem to be hard to get hold of these days. RWS Superdomes shot well and didn't cost too much. Same POI as the FTTs in mine at a 30 yard zero and a lot cheaper as a practice round.
  19. As above....... I thought I'd ask on here first as someone may have one kicking about. Any condition, I don't care if it's scratched, scuffed, split or looks like a dog's been using it as a chew toy Cheap as possible, please Cheers.
  20. ANY springer can be improved by someone who knows what's what. As a general rule these days, Air Arms are better finished 'out of the box' than HWs but depending on what you want HW's are a better platform for tuning and when done right, are a better gun at the end. It's splitting hairs though really, there's very little to choose between either makes and most of it boils down to personal preference and how each make feels to the individual. Edit to add... Nice shooting, Si. I'd really like to try your 97 out some day
  21. Sixteen yards is close so you may not notice much change. Try again at longer ranges then see what happens. Also, buy a chrono.
