  1. Good write up Sounds like you had a good day mate well done
  2. As said mate if she is not fully ready she will not except his advances not that the hob is very romantic in the 1st place the jill we are wanting to breed from this year is nowhere near ready yet
  3. Not just us then that had a bad season good on yer to those who had a good year Looking forward to next season already wishing the summer away and it aint even arrived yet
  4. We seem to be the only ones that have had a very bad season It started off ok but we were hit with mixy this year like i haven't seen the likes of for years and from then on things just went from bad to worse areas that we normaly get dozens every year we were lucky to get 3 or 4 rabbits the ferrets worked the best they could for what was there but it was just one of them seasons that thankfully you only get now and then it's the worst one we have had for a number of years yet last year was one of the best for a few years In the words of forrest gump ferreting is like a box of chocolates you
  5. You are not the only one to have been tucked up by a vet mate they are robbing bas**rds ours charge £20 for a consultation took a racing pigeon to the vets once to get some drops for a one eyed cold which racing pigeons can suffer with the vet didn't have a clue i told her what is was and what drops i needed and she had the fuc*ing front to charge ME £20 for a consultation fee and it was me that told her what was wrong WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THAT the robbing bas**rd
  6. very well put the one spot on advise
  7. Good for you mate they will settle down once they have been doneMind you i think i would settle down without no boll**ks
  8. As said mate if you are not going to breed from them get them both castrated makes no difference at all to there working ability
  9. Nice bag of bunnies mate well done
  10. Fully agree imagine the stress a jill will be under trying to protect her kitts and the possible injuries caused by fighting get another cage mate and take the hob out
  11. As said great post and pics mate well done on what looked like a good day out
  12. Nice read mate good luck with the other farms
  13. Good read there mate well done have done a few one off jobs in big gardens it's good to keep the owners of big propertys happy cos it normaly leads to other permissions
  14. We do a lot of public sensitive national trust places with ferrets and lamps most of the public are fine once you have explained the need to reduce the rabbit numbers but you do get the odd wa*ker that keeps on In this case just bite your lip and keep calm tell em to have a word with the owner/landmanager etc if they are not happy and they will explain it further what ever happens keep your cool if approached by an idiot because that's what they want you to loose your rag and then they can report you for threatening them and it could end up being permission lost because of some wa*ker
  15. Spun poly is a great allround twine to use bright colours so easy to see doesn't rot only needs single knotting and handles and catches well As said agouti is the best place to buy but there are lots of other places ie dl shooting products /bridport nets/ the string king etc etc good luck with the net making mate
  16. Got a warren about 20 holes in the middle of 3 massive warrens 2 of which are not on my permission it's always good for a few rabbits it seem's to keep filling up from the big ones
  17. Sorry to hear you have been a victim of these scumbags mate I find it hard to belive that these low life's feel the need to nick ferrets that they can buy for just a few quid HOW SAD can some people get
  18. Fantastic post and pics well done lads
  19. Try a smaller warren on another part of your permissions mate away from the badger sett
  20. We keep 10 a lot of our permissions are on the south downs where the warrens are massive and 2 ferrets just would never move them they would run 2 ferrets around all week even on occasions when we have had all 10 in a massive warren some rabbits still want to hole hop so it's horses for courses the landowners want all the warrens cleared not just the nice 10 holers that most would choose including me LOL hence why 2 ferrets wouldn't be any good for the type of ferreting we do
  21. As malt says they ferrets do things like that if you are giving them chicken drumsticks i would give the dry food a miss that day Also remember to take any meat out in the morning when the weather warms up else the dredded flies will be on it and it's maggot ridden in no time it's ok this time of year when it's cold to leave for a couple of days
