EXACTLY!! we get £2 a rabbit now but i wouldn't even think about trying to do it for a living rabbiting for sport or pastime is one thing but doing it as a job is a whole new ball game all the rabbits we sell help pay for the 4x4s petrol and up keep and any left overs gets paid into my grandaughters bank account
  2. As said mate handle them as often as you can and feed them on fur or feather if you have it if not cheap chicken drumsticks/wings or a good quality dry ferret food hope they do you proud good luck with em in the coming season mate let us know how they get on

Gey yourself on the ladder mate by knocking some doors and the rest comes by word and mouth When we started with the one bit of ground years ago has led to thousands of acres of ferreting and shooting permission we now turn it away because we just dont have the time to do any more land and we dont want to promise the land owner something we cant acheive due to no time GOOD LUCK with finding some permission mate keep knocking doors and you will get some
  4. We are with the n.g.o and have been for years 10 million liability insurance which covers you for most including ferreting But i think there is a clause that it doesn't cover you if you are charging for the service you provide ? i will double check but i sure this is correct
  5. Ours eat all the corvids ie magpies crows rooks jackdaws jays etc but are not over keen on game pheasent partridge etc

  9. feral pigeons carry more desease than rats so we tend to avoid them ive feed the ferrets on feral pigeons loads of times seen the dogs eat them and ive even ate them with no ill affect Maybe i will give em a go then we regualy shoot a load in the barns and normaly chuck them on the bonfire we have just always avoided them due to the desease they are supposed to carry

  12. Has anybody ever fed there ferrets on moles ? A friend of a friend of mine is a pro mole catcher and has asked me if i want any trapped moles for my ferrets i have fed my ferrets on most things over the years except rats or feral pigeons but have never fed moles Has anyone else tried there ferrets on trapped mole ?
  13. Used a bag donkeys years ago wouldn't use one again as said ferrets are to open to injury in a bag

If they are the 4z nylon type they will be cheap and that's because they are sh*t avoid them like the plague If you can get yourself some spun poly or 10z nylon nets much better quality and wont tangle as much there are some good net makers on this site that sell good nets at a good price good luck with it mate

We make all our own nets bar trammels so dont buy them but i have heard nothing but good reports about andy kellys nets also good reports on a few other net makers i'm glad there are good netmakers out there providing a service at a fair price for ferreters that dont make there own long may they continue to provide this service

  19. Personaly Prefere metal pegs a lot of the ground we do is hard chalky or flinty and the wooden ones don't seem to last good hard wood pegs if the groung is ok

All you can do in a situation like that is do the best you can net purse net whatever poss then longnet or trammel net round the cabin and go for it try and stand as still as you can so the rabbits hole hoping dont see your feet moving about if the ferrets put enough pressure on them they should bolt away from the cabin good luck with it mate

  23. We now use beaphar ferret spot on treats fleas lice ticks all the usual nastys one pipett per ferret on back of the neck job done
