  10. well four of us made the trip up to the borders for our anual rook shoot darren his son micheal and his friend william .on the friday the winds were really strong but we still managed a good number between us approx 200 on the first trip into the wood we then started to arrange the cooking stove which was made out of an old 5 gallon barrel bacon and egg with beans and the breasts of some young rooks never tasted so good here are a few pictures from the hunt this is darren connecting with a good running rabbit lucky shot i think the stove made from an old five gallon tin worked
  11. well i arrived at the farm ready to start thinning out the branchers in the rook wood before we got into the wood i had a mooch around the farm building and accounted for six feral pigeons and a couple of big rats that were feeding on the crushed wheat used for feeding the sheep and cattle all in all a good result as i was only out about an hour this was feed the rats were eating nice 30 yrd shots produced these two
  12. well i was sitting in a hide waiting for a fox to come along out of some cover the lads were pushing through and i heard a comotion slightly behind me as i turned i saw a sparrow hawk in full flight in persuit of a very alarmed chaffinch well just as i thought the chaffy was a gonner it suddenly dipped and hit the top of a drystone wall .the sparrow hawk turned and landed in a nearby tree. Obviously intent on its meal lying in the grass at the base of the wall i showed myself and the hawk flew off i walked to where the chaffy had hit the wall and found the bird sitting up right it had ju
  13. you should write a few storys for darcy very literate arnt you nice shot by the way
  14. the way the snare is attached on that fox wire the loop allways pulls open even when the snare is loaded to fire fast. this method will work but you will lose foxes due to the fact that the loop all ways relaxes towards the original shape especially when a deer stop set at 9 inches has been added. been there bought the tea shirt the only way to use these eyelets the correct way is to modify the small hole by drilling out with a larger drill this is what snareman myself and peg &gun have been doing for years
  15. Because they were not made by the "experts" I make my own using 1mm galvanised wire which works a treat, I catch just as many as using traditional brass but would not put photos up or write about it becuase you would be riddiculed and belittled. 120-2 I DONT THINK SO DO YOU NOT THINK ALL THESE OTHER MATERIALS HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED BY US WE HAVE TRIED AND TESTED ALL KINDS OF WIRES GRANTED YOU MAY CATCH THE ODD RABBIT BUT HOW MANY OF THOSE SNARES HAVE BROKE OFF AROUND A RABBIT THIS 1MM GALV WIRE JUST CAN NOT STAND UP TO THE HEAT CAUSED WHEN A RABBIT DANCES ABOUT BRASS WIRE IS S

  19. if your in a council house you could have issues even if your in a private house the envioroment department could be called in to take action against you ,bettet to try and get on with your neigbours or more shit could come of it ie when your in late from lamping ect, if your dogs are noisy its up to you to have them quiet even if it means getting a dog sitter while your out
