  1. Fair duff mate, but I wouldn't advise on stuff like reloading for that very reason anyway, but you gotta take info on any forum with a pinch of salt, what might be good/safe in/for one gun might be extremely dangerous, like putting someone's hot .45-70 reload for their ruger no.1 in a repro rolling block or trapdoor springfield (not many people can only say that it won't be safe due to other peoples experiences and info- I can't see anyone willing to blow up their gun (or their hands)just to see if it's safe or not they'll use other peoples info)..... but the first time you do something, you
  2. it sounds to me you need to do alot more reading before you give a people info that you no nothing about . W.D that's a bit harsh mate? knowing information and having experience is different.... I read, talk to people in the know, soak up the info and regurgitate it onto forums like this sure I don't have experience to back up my opinions, but I've got the theory covered is there a problem with that? i think you find there's a big difference between a MTC VIPER 6-24X 56 and a T8 or a ASE ultra muzzle mounted cans. W.D *sigh*- read my other post above- I've
  3. hmmm depends, if you've got a big steel bank or hill behing then yes it is upwards but not such a bad thing as you've got a good backstop, but if it's flat as a pancake then yes upwards is bad as the bullet can bounce quite a way esp. on hard baked ground if you shoot stones with an airgun (with sufficient fall out behind the target- airguns are low powered and subsquently are safe to shoot into trees- like when knocking squirrels over eg) you'll hear peeeooowwwww -y'know the classic ricochet sound..
  4. BWAAAH! :icon_eek: :icon_eek: £545???? I knew sportsmans were expensive but that is just taking the piss!
  5. Hmmm it seems you're in Ireland so my info'll not be much use, but in FA Andersons on East Grinstead they've got them there for £475 as i'm looking at one for my new rimmy when I get my FAC back... Good choise with the S&B by the way

  7. Heck..... how did i get to talking about that as for the viper.... as with a lot of things it may look good for the money and maybe it is, but i'd steer clear of them and get a European fixed or variable scope, they'll be much more expensive but at lest you know that when you increase the magnification your POI won't change.... you've also got to ask yourself... di i really need 24x mag??? my guess is no, unless you're intending on shooting mosquitoes :D i'd say that for deer as i'm guessing that's what it's for 9 or 12x mag will be more than enough.... even for foxes, have a look also a
  8. well can't go wrong with the T8 though i understand you can't take it apart for cleaning..(am i right?) but for my money i'd go for one of those ASE ultra muzzle mounted cans... Just for the record I don't actually shoot fullbore, i just read a lot
  9. even if you'd hit it the bullet would still pass through....
  10. you beat me to it mate.... please do not shoot into the trees ever......... Accidents can and do happen...... enjoy yourself by all means, but caution is always recommended with any rifle. Snap. Damn... too slow... AGAIN- I was thinking exactly the same thing........- fine with an air rifle at squirrels or what not, but as soon as you get into rim/centerfire territory it's a whole new ball game
  11. I thought the were illegal to use to bring them in to shoot?
  12. hmmm some like them some don't- a lecturer at college had one and he said his was junk- for the money it simply wasn't worth it- and i'd be inclined for me to agree with him- being over the £1000 mark, it'd gotta have something special for me to want to pay that much......
  13. I'm gonna be getting an S&B 8x56 Klassic Hungarian for my new one.....
  14. Hi all, has anyone checked out the benelli usa website recently? at the end of march they released the benelli vinci which there was loads of hype about on their website.... IT'S HIDEOUS!- check it out at http://www.benelliusa.com/shotguns/benelli_vinci.php Boo benalli- blotted their copy book IMHO
  15. the .243 is faster but i think will be blown around more as it is a lighter bullet, as for a dual purpose rifle, you don't really want to be lugging 9 lbs+ of rifle and scope around the field all day so get something lighter check the Kimber model 84M Longmaster Classic- walnut stock, blued action and a medium/heavy stainless barrel, looks really sexy..... just over 7lbs with nothing on it, the action is a purpose designed short action reciever not a shortened long action one so it's really trim, plus the heavier barrel will give you that extra stiffness for target shooting..... check it out!-
  16. Hi all, just something I've been thinking about lately, why would you re-barrel a rifle/do some manufacturers offer blued recievers with stainless barrels? it just seems to me that you have the stainless for corrosion resistance so it would make sense to have both in stainless  however, the difference in metal does look kinda cool........ (see Kimber 84M Longmaster Classic) Is it mostly for cosmetics or cost saving? Cheers
  17. I wouldn't have though it would be a problem, lay it on its side and try it out.....just consult your FAO.... and just bolt it to the floor!
  18. OOOOK. If ou want to just do target shooting, stick with a duplex/ 30/30 type reticle or just a fine crosshair. most usefull to you if you're dialling in corrections would be 1/8" @ 100yd 1 minute of angle=1/60th of a degree so if you extrapolate 1/60th of a degree out to 100yd it will cover one inch not sure about adjustment ranges but if you get a scope designed for lond range shooting then you'll probably have enough elevation in it, also you could get y'self a 20MOA rail to give you that bit extra elevation..... check some of the yank pages, they're all into their long rang
  19. ooooh unsavoury! - looks like a mouse that's been in a trap....good shooting..... how far away was he?
  20. I bought one of those, yes they are made in China, but for the American market. I was amazed at the quality and it holds zero perfectly. Don't night shoot so can't comment there. Best thing, imported direct from the far east via Ebay I only paid £63 plus about £12 delivery. You should also consider the BSA Sweet 17 and 22. available in 4-18 x 40, sell at £99 in my local gunshop, bought one of each again off ebay for around £30 each. Again they perform fine, certainly for day use. ooooh, have heard baad things about those BSA sweet 17/22 scopes, people say that if you dial
  21. what? as in moderated? i'd really go with the 12b, they reviewed an o/u 12b silenced job in some magazine a couple oif years ago... nothing wrong with the .410, it's just that the 12b gives you more leeway...(I think ) go with 30-32g no 5/6 out to 30 yd.....

  23. When you give advice at least try to make it accurate. I highly doubt someone with a criminal record for armed tresspass would be easily granted an FAC at all, let alone for a centerfire on first grant such as a .243 or .308 !!! Also there is no mention of FAC here, he is looking into getting an SGC - A much more realistic ambition !!!! Apply for the SGC mate, all they can do is say no aye yer, wasn't thinking there but with regards to accuracy, I don't know, these are only my thoughts/understandings.....
