Hi all, Just been reading up on the 6.5 Grendel, and straight pull AR type rifles... just wonderin' if these rounds are available in the UK as factory loads and how much they might cost... Also, would they be deer legal (i.e. >1700 ft/lbs) or is it only really a viable reloading option at the moment? Cheers! Also, if you've got one, how about some pics of your AR's ??? Just lovin' those AR's ATM

My thoughts on semi auto shotgunsdanebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns nope, no slagging.... I agree entirely! no, i forgot about the brownings, but that's probably because they're so uncommon, i've never seen one here.....

couldn't be truer! more true? i dunno which

I don't really think you need a mil dot ret, I've used a 30/30 ret on my .22 air rifle for ages, I'll be getting another for my .17 hmr when i get that, and with a MPBR of about 250 yd for the .223, you only really need a 30/30, IMHO mil dot reticles are really for military or police users where they shoot with heavier calibers over much longer distances, with more bullet drop, i don't really think they're necessary but that's my opinion, if i get one and find it useful, I'll gladly eat my words!

My thoughts on semi auto shotgunsdanebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns Cleaning rarely nessecary ? I clean my gun every time I use it, oil the barrels and action even if i don't fire it, the benelli, as SportingShooter said will fire anything you put down the tube. The benelli dosen't need adjusting between cartridge types either. the recoil's greater, granted, but i found the berettas' lack of recoil off putting.... well i guess it's a preference thing, which you were introduced to first, and how much time you want to have to spend cleaning the thing on the looks front, the beretta wins there, but i like the rugged simplicity of the benelli and there bein

My thoughts on semi auto shotgunsdanebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns well, an interesting thing on safety, there's a clay shoot i've been to that allows autos, but not pumps??? a pump (to me) is just an auto with a sliding fore end! and it can be shown that it's empty, by keeping the slide back... but i think that autos can be just as safe as double guns, what about rifles, especially on driven shoots, they don't seem to have any problems there... but i reckon that as long as you behave safely, not waving the muzzle around then people should not feel uneasy just because someone has a fixed barrel gun....

through 3/4 choke? i don't think so...... not unless you want to bugger your gun... ever thought about rolling you own? (with BBs)

I wouldn't really know, not owning a centerfire, but I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem, you would just have to cycle the 3 or 4 rounds out of the mag that's all....

Hi all, I just thought I'd share my thoughts on semis, first off, I think they're great guns, great for clay busting or pigeon shooting, but why don't we see any on the driven shoot? even wood stocked ones? I think there's a lot of taboo regarding semis, on the continent and in the states, people use them for pheasant shooting.... OK they don't have the same type of formal driven shoot as we do, but a gun's a gun... isn't it? I might frown on a plastic stocked gun on a driven shoot, but a wooden stocked one, though not something you see every day I wouldn't have a problem with... aand just

Rimfires- Ruger or Anschutz?danebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns yep something on the butt pad to aid grip on the floor- liking the inner tube idea.... of course i'd keep it in the slip, but when getting it out of the safe, then in between getting it out of the safe and putting it in the slip- you know, we all lean out guns up against something from time to time- like re-tying shoelaces, dealing with shot rabbits, having a pee or whatever

Rimfires- Ruger or Anschutz?danebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns no, but I did pick one up in the shop and have a look at it- not really long enough, I'll drive past another shop on my way home tomorrow and see if they've got one in and have a better look at it. Not really long enough Barrel wise or Stock wise? If either of those, have a look on their websites at the various specifications, think long and hard about it, and ask your gunny if he can get you one in. SS no neither! as in I didn't look at the rifle long enough to get a proper idea about it! I went into FA Andersons this morning and had a look at a .17 HMR anschutz with

Rimfires- Ruger or Anschutz?danebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns Don't decide based on recommendations here. Use those to form a short list and make your own decision. no, but i wanted other people opinions on the subject, 'cause having very little experience on rimfires, i thought this might be the first port of call...

Rimfires- Ruger or Anschutz?danebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns Phew! Anschutz it is then! They look like great rifles- I had a look at a .22 version today in the gunshop (I was just driving past )and it just seemed solid. The bolt was really secure and nothing rattled at all! Just need to get those forms filled out! another quickie.. how much should I expect to pay - the price tag in the shop was for £650

Rimfires- Ruger or Anschutz?danebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns I got the Savage stainless/laminated/thumbhole jobby. Superb gun/stock and only issue is crappy mag release and edgey trigger guard. Latter 2 easily polished out. Take a look at the review on shooting times, I'm sure they said it was the most accurate rimfire they'd tested. "acutrigger" works very nicely My .22 is the ruger 77/22 lam/stainless so I'm biased in it's favour anyway. Cheers for the comment, I had a look at the savage and the marlin, I just don't like how far forward their magazines are, to me they just don't exude quality...

borrow/get a .22 with a mod and use .22 subs- mega quiet- if you do it in the night then they won't know stick within 50 yd and stick to head (brain) shots and you'll be laughing!

Hi all, I'm looking to get a .17 HMR rimfire- I've narrowed it down to a ruger, or an anschutz 1517- which would you guys recommend? High capacity on the rugers- simplicity and possibly higher engineering on the anschutz... revies for both are here-- Ruger http://www.shootingtimes.co.uk/guns/rifles...fle_review.html Anschutz http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/guns/176465/An...ne_in_22LR.html Cheers! PS- no suggestions on the CZ rifles please - they're great value for money, but not what i'm looking for.

Classic English Doublesdanebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns From personal experience i find o/u easier to shoot but i still prefer sbs all day long a real nice old sbs a bit of British heritage and even better a nice sbs sidelock as i dont think boxlocks look right but many people would disagree But while were on it here's one of my shot guns it's a Charles Lancaster W&R Hammerless ejector 12bore ..... She's pretty! yup, sidelocks do look nicer but they're sooooo much more than a boxlock, i like the look of the webley 700s..... nice quite plain engraving, not trying to be what it isn't but i'm sure that not many of us can justify spendin

Classic English Doublesdanebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns it took all them shots to get one pigeon!!!! yeah well, room for improvement i'll admit, but i hadn't had the gun very long and i had only just got into shooting, but i think i'm a lot better now, i score around 35 ex 50 with my s/s best score 39 ex 50.

Classic English Doublesdanebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns I just like the shape and the heritage, i also shoot better with my s/s than an o/u but the u/o is supposedly easier to shoot well owing to it's narrow sight plane- ie down one barrel as supposed to in between two barrels.

Classic English Doublesdanebrewer10 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns how about English doubles then?

Here's mine, a Cogswell & Harrison 12 bore 27 1/2 in barrels 2 1/2 in chambers ejector- (sometimes ) sideplated I thinks that's enough photos.... now show me yours! here's to warm barrels!

Hi there, I'm just wonderin' about a straight pull AR platform in 6.5 grendel, does anyone know, if; 1- it's deer legal 2- is it a reloaders cartridge only (ie no factory ammo) 3- if not then how much the ammo is Cheers! Dane

Mossberg Hushpower 410danebrewer10 replied to whippeter69's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns why does everyone reckon on getting a .410 as a fist shotgun?? IMHO i'd get a 20 bore or a 12, use smaller loads, and when you grow into the gun, you can use bigger shells with 30 grams of shot, instead of getting to the point where you have a .410 which was fine then, but now you want something bigger and have to buy another gun! you can also get 12 bore subsonics, chech eley hawk's website, i use them and i can't fault them. they go bang when you pull the trigger and the birds drop out of the sky if you do you part! i think that no. 5 shot is minimum for rabbits, as they're pretty tough cu
