    I think you missed the point really but,the only way a catch can be evaluated is if the run is seen ,ie from start to finish.For example was it given law ? If so how much 80yds a 100yds ,or was it a kickup? As for me ,if I gave a shit ,I might point out that the hare in the picture looks to have been taken early in the year, ie before the season , and the other hare has been lamped , a few lamped rabbits, and a couple of ferreted ones. do not mean so very much .Just be happy with your dogs and don't throw out silly challenges to people you do not even know, one of them might just take you up

    My 3 dogs staple meat is rabbit,I eat some, Magwitch's ferrets get some. The rest go to friends and relations, same with the miscellaneous.

    Refreshing to have two posters point out the extent to which the quarry is handicapped, and also two others who mention the hidden dangers that a blanket of white stuff can conceal.Some time ago I commented on a You Tube video by "Hare basher" ,he slipped two dogs on a hare in thick snow, I pointed out it was no great feat for a dog to catch in such circumstances and got slagged off as an anti.

    The point of the hock is the canine equivalent of our knees. Cow hocked means that these point inwards,causing the dogs feet to toe out,it is a confirmation fault ,but many dogs have it and pursue a long and productive working life,it can indicate a propensity to slipped patellas later in life, but it is far from a given.

    Saw a first season pup out of Khan run two weeks ago looked pretty good,its x with K's whippet x saluki.and has a moderately rough coat,took 1 out of 2.

    I spoke to Gary D ,just after it happened ,he went to visit Don ,and said he was doing ok.A few of us who were in the club sent a signed get well card I believe he was "out" last year, fair play to the old fella. My pup had good feet , but turned out to have cataracts which may have been congenital ,so he was not used ,even for breeding. Mac had the brother or sister ,I can't recall which now, getting senile.ATB.

I just made the point that the hares were killed early in the year, August I believe and the reason was ,the farmer wanted them thinned out.I think I am right about the month ,it is a while since I watched the footage. I bought it from Tony years ago. There was no attempt to suggest they were February hares I have run against Don a couple of times and run in a club with him for about 10 years.Pre Ban of course. I am not sure Turk would have beaten one or two of Don's other dogs.Did Turk win any competition? look at the footage on most of the coursing stuff ,, alot of the match footage are running green hares, thats when you see the big bags and the dogs missing less,, then look at the footage in the depths of winter once they have been ran a bit and slimed down december / january,, lots more misses,, alot less caught,,, you only see they best bits on dvds. Don would undoubtedly have brought his best available dog on the day , but not necessarily the best dog he has owned.

    I have three ,all male, two are kennelled together ,but the older fella is on his own, they can see each other but not get together ,unless I am around.I don't leave three together , I think it's tempting fate, imo.
