Yep....I have photographed numerous hares within 7 or 8 yards all through the winter months. Anyone wishing to see how close you can get to a hare in its natural habitat, should read Darcy's book," The Hare And The Swift Hound," the photos have taken the art of the camera study of our Native Hare to a new level, in short they are superb!

Hi A, Ive recently got a free source for chicken carcasses,I feed them raw, along with rabbit, [which I am now running out of due to the time of year ,] and any other game. The chicken is good because it has some fat in it ,whereas the rabbit is virtually fat free. I give the rabbits with the jacket off, and paunched ,after leaving them in the freezer for 3 weeks to kill any tape worm cysts. I feed the bunnies with the heads and feet on. I cook any giblets with a few eggs, pasta, drop of oil, small amount of gravy granules. I supplement this with a couple of tins of pilchards in tomato s

Thirty five years ago I ran The Plain with Max , a beddie collie x grey he caught quite a few hares, and won me a few bob ,but he would be like dead the day after, very tough dog ,very hard attitude ,big heart, but when I got my first saluki cross, Sonny, though he was only 1/4 saluki the difference in his recovery rate was marked. PS Hope you and dogs are well J.

Provided the ground is not too hard ,I think this is the sensible way to go.

Some one has read Thoreau.

The scene from this is when they are shooting pool to "Can't take My Eyes Off You", imo Plus I love the whole wedding take. The Taxi Scene from On The Waterfront," I coulda been a contender" The Opium Den Scene From Once Upon A Time In America at the end , with Noodles laying back and smiling. The Scene In The Third Man when the spotlight fleetingly falls on Orson Welles. The Ending of A Touch Of Evil when Marlene Dietrich says ,"what does it matter what you say about someone ,he was some kind of a man" ,walks away and the pianola plays. Humphrey Bogart going nuts, and paran

I read no attacks on anyone shooting in general, just some criticism of hares being shot at the time when they are breeding and nursing young. The same would ,or should apply to anyone running them with dogs at this time of year. I myself was proud to march to defend ALL field sports ,shoulder to shoulder with shooters, terrier men, ferreters, coursing men, lampers, etc. I'm just glad that on the many marches and demos /rallies I went on, I never encountered a narrow minded ,mean spirited ,divisive thinking, doughnut like your self. When protestors were getting crushed against the barrier in

I think we can all agree there is no closed season on that, well, a week a month , maybe.
-
You are talking to a closed mind there ,and for her to say such a disgusting and insensitive thing , regardless of what her thoughts on the conflict might be , means that she is seriously unhinged as well. I had a strange experience once, that was not traumatic ,in fact it was rather funny. I was in a line with a group of coursing friends ,this was pre ban ,and we were members of a coursing club, the landowner was accompanying us ,he was also in the line , we were parallel to a side road , the judge officiating was a man in his 60's , walking slightly in front of the line, with the slipper,

And if they are running a pup, they are running it on pregnant, and nursing does ,and kits. Wonderful.

You are entitled to your opinion, personally I would say the standard of dogs is still pretty high. I don't think the original thread mentioned Jackers, he asked if it was good dog do you keep it ,? If it was an average dog do you get rid of it? How does keeping a dog after its working life is finished ,mean that you have no balls? A dog that has worked its best for you ,until old age set in ,and it couldnt do it any more is entitled to a warm bed ,and some quality of life in its old age ,thats how I see it. If that makes you laugh ,perhaps you have a unique sense of humour?

My youngest dog is 4 years old, he dislocated his right leg at the the end of last season[1st week in March], he hit a dyke , he has had 2 operations to rebuild and stabilise the limb. At the moment ,he has three stabilising bolts screwed through his leg and 500lbs strain liger thread inside his leg, in place of the ligament that was ruptured, he will have this for the next 3/4 months ,and afterwards, if he ,and I are lucky ,he may be able to run a few bunnies ,but his days on, "the big land ," are over, cost so far? £2,600. I have an old dog, 10years old, and a general purpose lad of 5 now

I think this is allready being done on a small scale, with a couple of the top coursing studs in the UK.

The problem with most of this stuff is, it is soaked in water to make the weight up,You are buying about 25%/30% tap water with the meat, which is poor quality to start with. I've now got a steady supply of chicken carcasses ,and trimmings, free of charge ,to augument the rabbits my fellas get, throw in a few tins of pilchards and some eggs, bit of veg ,cod liver oil,bit of pasta, feeding my three for pea nuts at the mo. -
Red,Maisie,Blondie,Peggy,Lassie,Elsie,Lucky,Shady,Nancy[i think].anyway ,that's a few of them.

A nice tribute to a man you admired , respected, and sorely miss. You do him honour.

I can't speak for any one else but that is precisely what happened in my case.
-
I would have more respect for them if they were honest about it and said" I dont give a f**k about seasons ,or fair slips, I just want to chase hares ,and the more I catch however they are caught, the happier I am." Instead of all this shit about, "just bringing a pup on ","got to keep the numbers down , pest control "etc. I had a pop at lads on YOU TUBE ,who put a clip up of two dogs coursing a hare, from a kickup , the ground was covered in deep snow, they talked about it like it was some accomplishment,I said it was unsporting and was accused of being an anti. To many w*****s,and wan

Aah, The Poachers Rest. I registered on there, made two posts, neither of them, obscene, argumentative ,or abusive in any way.One correcting Mr Gallagher, regarding dogs winning both the doubles ,and singles of the Forley Cup,as I remember, he stated Alan Sankey was the only owner to do it [with Dancer] .I said Don Southerd did it as well,[with Lady]. I was then banned. No explanation nothing. Inan; they wouldn't let me join Poachers Rest !! But to paraphrase the great Groucho; " I wouldn't want to join any site that would have the likes of me, (or you), as a member " !!! LOL !!!
