  1. Butch, my first lurcher was bred this way wonderfully, agile, speedster who could jump like a stag £12, off of a guy from Dartford in Kent known locally as " Caveman". Sadly Butch contracted Parvo which was just becoming established in the UK, I had to have him PTS at `18 months old. Collie/ Grey x Saluki/ Grey A good choice for an allrounder. imo.
  2. i went sunday yes a bit pricey for the size of the venue but as iv never shown a dog in my life its just a stroll around with my bitch taking it all in for me,just like looking at all the different types really. i wouldnt get involved in showing myself just not my thing but hey each to their own eh,i thought it was supposed to be a bit of fun and a get together with a few lads but all seems far to serious for my liking . a bloke parked next to me seemed to have a dog for every class lol when i asked if he worked them he said yes all of them,f**k me the lad must have some time on his hands
  3. When judging ,I avoid friends and acquaintances precisely because ,even the most casual greeting may be misconstrued ,and interpreted as you are "in their pocket etc." As I said it's a thankless task ,and a lonely one on the day. ChalkWarren knows all about it,I beleive he passes up invites to judge now ,and I don't blame him. You make one friend, [the winner ] ,and very often ,several enemies [those who did not win],you can be in the ring for several hours ,Ive finished at 6 pm ,when the classes are big,a good steward is a great asset ,but far from a given. Nowadays my knees ,and back st

  7. :icon_redface: Aw gee, now you've embarrassed me LOL Seriously though, that's the good thing about sites like this, there are plenty of people who really want to learn more, and plenty of people ready to help who have learned through bitter experience and long years of dogging. Another satisfied customer. I had a dog, which developed similar symptoms on his muzzle and lips ,turned out to be from lime the farmer had put around his orchards ,but this would not apply at the time of year. Seems you've solved the problem P. N.B. Hope my first comment isn't misconstrued,
  8. I went, had a look around, [you can cover it in an hour and a half]. A mate was running the lurcher show , good bloke ,so it was nice to have a craic with him. I don't think it is worth £10 entry fee TBH, but it's near me,and under cover ,so if it rains no problem . It needs more demos, imo too many stalls just selling coats etc, more relevant hunting orientated stalls , would be an improvement. Not many dvds/ books for sale this year.Mostly clothes, food. I wanted a double edged ,fixed blade knife ,for " emergencies", which was the primary reason for going , nothing available. Bought a

  10. Lets hope so ,I've just had my youngest dislocate a wrist so it would be nice to hear a positive story of local dogs.
  11. Not slagging dog down in any way mate,I haven't seen him run. I own the sire of the bitch he covered, hope the pups turn out allright.
  12. I had a dog , pre ban, took three on the trot, throat holds ,not a scratch afterwards. next 2 ,one bit him through the shoulder, the next went deep in his muzzle and jaw.Sooner or later , even the best of them usually get some stick.
  13. So am I ,not sure which day yet.
  14. Thanks very much, I haven't seen this dog run ,but a very good friend ,whose opinion I trust, says it is rather slow, there again ,it has gone to an," up and at em ,"type of bitch. Just trying to get an idea of how the pups will perform cheers again. never seen it run to be honest i never saw bill run as he was injured young and I used him for the breeding. looking back I think a lot of the pups from taz my have been talked up by a fella who had a lot of young stuff off him. I here buddys a good producer of coursing pups at the mo. I think what they sire is far more important than how the

  20. Ive just ordered the torch from E Bay £9.98 inc pp, from Hong Kong.I want it as a back up to my Lazer light.
  21. This rabbit just made it, so it was fast enough.
  22. That third course made me smile ,the black dog ran as if it was on rails, couldn't anticipate or turn to save its life, bit like my old dog Rocky. But the dog that picked up the hare in the first course ,really wanted it ,you could see that. Nice bit of footage, thanks for posting it.
  23. Father to my old dog.I was there that day, with Gary, and Dave D,any of the finalists on the Sat would have been worthy Champions. Great memories .
