That is a massive favour, which ftch's are they? Can't tell you off hand mate, picking her up midweek and I'll have the names from her pedigree. That means you are getting a pup from Parents who can only work for 20 minutes or so at a time and in between destroy their Feed Pans and Beds.......lol. A bit Tongue in Cheek, but not overly impressed with FTCh this and FTCh that.

To be honest bud, I wouldn't travel 13 hours. I may get up to Yorkshire once or twice, but having Birds capable of taking Grouse requires regular flights and experience, once or twice a year would not cut it for me. The same reason I gave my Eagle up, lack of adequate quarry and having to travel too much to get regular work and give the Bird the experience he needed to do the job efficiently. I have 10,000 more Acres and more mates land down here to fly at, so wouldn't want to travel 3 hours, never mind 13....lol I wasn't aiming my comments at you mate, others who don't fly Longwings are proba

And Now For Something Completely Different .....
Shamo replied to Outlaw Pete's topic in Cage and Aviary Birds
Trigger mechanisms can be adapted for any Trap bud, hard without seeing the actual Potter....they have various methods depending who made it. Eliminate the opportunity of being able to dodge the Trigger. I have several where the Floor is the Trigger and when they land it sets off the Trap mechanism, some are species specific. -
Swimming Pool paint with the grit in it, or make up your own with external floor paint and add sand, paint at least a foot up the walls too.

This will be hard to beat! My GWP has just had her last Pup (dead) at 5pm today, Saturday. She had her first one 6am Thursday!!! She had a total of 13, with the last 3 dead, leaving 10 fit and lively ones, 6 males and 4 females. As you can imagine it was a bit of a drawn out saga, but I bet the total time will be hard to beat.

Horses for courses mate, a personal preference is a 'Y' or 'T' shaped Trigger Perch, hard not to set them off. -
One of the biggest problems guys have, who infrequently fly Grouse, is the lack of fitness needed to take them 'properly'. Plenty fly 'at' Grouse and find all the excuses, but not many seem to regularly catch them...lol. Enjoy.

In and out again, gutting........Trap can't be a Trap...lol. -
That set up is a nightmare bud, you will find out when you start using them more. Good craftsmanship though and better than buying, especially when you use them to get one. They are ideal for stationary shooting (although a Thumb stick will do the job too), but leave them in the wagon, when you move around! Just my opinion, from experience.

Must be me, but it seems everybody wants to buy, buy, buy. Where are all the people gone who make, make, make?............lol. Really nice when you use something that works, which you made and cost next to nothing. Cut some Hazel now and store in the dry, by the time it's used, it'll be dry enough and it will get dryer.

Like everything mate, there may be a bad penny amongst them. Watch closely and try to see and recognise if there is one or two particular Birds taking them off. If it is a random thing, then try a couple days rest and late feeding. If there are any bad ones cull them out of your Kit.

.......the sort of Canary only their Mother would love and expensive too.....lol.

Bosun what do you call "nuts" with the price of a good second hand Barbour?

good post as usual fireman . just out of interest mate .as soon as you notice a finch fluffing up . whats the course of treatment you take . ? First thing i do is get them in the warm mate,a very important thing to do is get them warm but it depends on what time of year and what the sex of the bird is.Spring time and hens fluffing may well be egg binding but if it's a cock then look at other symptoms and try to work out whats wrong and i'm not affraid to ask others who know more than i do and that's where joining a local bird club can help as there's only myself and a couple of others at

'Coneykenny', there are some Breeders out there who finance their Hobby by selling offspring. There are those who also 'Trap' and finance their lives by charging 'Breeder prices' for Birds they caught. For your purposes go to a Breeder and get Birds bred from Show/captive bred stock. They will probably be bigger and may have better colouring than 'wild caught' Birds, but the main thing is they will have the correct Rings on and you have a person to verify their ancestry, should you need to. I am not anti-trapping, just anti rip off merchants and Trappers with cash in mind, with little thought

Does anybody know, or is it someone on here, who is selling all the different 'Yanks' on E-bay at the moment?

Just so the Topic doesn't change, as they so often do, I'd like to say the concept of having 'Mule Cages' or 'Finch Cages' as they are known is not new and certainly not considered cruel or illegal. It is just personal choice as to whether you use them or 'Flight Cages'. I personally think any Animal kept in a situation to keep itself fit and healthy is going to 'perform' better at it's task. I personally don't like the use of 'Training Cages' the Show guys use, but I understand with Aviary bred Birds it will be necessary, for the Birds welfare, in the long run. I do know a guy who 'Hand rear

Sorry, mate. Missed that one in all the excitement! I'm f**king Gagging for mealworms!!! Trouble is, out here, arse end of small town back of beyond? I couldn't buy a bloody budgie, let alone anything as 'exotic' as worms. I Will sort it out though. I'll rig a warmed box set up and breed my own. With mealworms available? My scope would increase exponentially just leave some Liver out and get some Maggots on the go.........live food excites them all this time of year,

You have now bud.......

This type of 'Cage' is meant for putting the Bird in to sing, when hung on a Wall or in a Conservatory. Which is why guys like to have them as elaborate and pleasing to the Eye as they can get (some are real works of Art). It isn't designed for it to live in, on a permanent basis. Although, this one, is very big for that purpose and you might need an outside Wall to fix it to, to take the weight.......lol. Some parts of the World must do a Goldie Pit Bull cross.

If the Hen is any good, she will not tolerate another in such close proximity. If you just want Aseels for just keeping Aseels as Pets, I am sure there will be plenty about selling the type of Hens where you can keep a trio in a Pen that size. All my pairs Pens sizes are 12ftx12ftx6ft and a Hen with Chicks, on her own with them, in an 8ftx4ftx4ft Pen, until they are 'hard penned'.

What do you have under your 'Greenie' Hens?

Be interesting to see if they will be Peregrine food. I was once told, when flown amongst other colours, the whites seemed not to attract too much attention. I don't know whether it's the unusual colour or coincidence, but none of the white were taken on training flights. The main problem was finding good enough white Birds to Race with.....lol.

How far South in the UK have Crossbills been found.......confirmed sightings?
