  1. I would definitely stay away from a Terrier mate. With things the way they are these Days you just cannot afford to have a Dog go to ground anywhere it isn't meant to. If you only want a Dog for bushing etc GET A DOG BRED FOR IT. My advice would be one of the Spaniel breeds, or even a cross of perhaps a Beagle/Terrier, if you wanted a bit of Terrier. Warrener is very successful with the ones he breeds and occasionally has Litters. Just a thought for you to play with. Knowing your land isn't enough. Certain times of the Year you will find an old Boar dug in somewhere or a Fox under a Huge outc
  2. That is the problem with technology 'blue'. You buy the newest piece of Kit and after a short while it isn't. There will be better Avalanche systems brought on to the Market, the Kit is designed for Humans and has to be upgraded as new technology progresses. The Collars for Dogs were brought in to help keep the Rescue Dogs safe when looking for casualties on the Slopes and Mountains. Humans already carried Transmitters on them. These had to be able to be picked up by any Receiver on the Market, which is why all devices are set between certain frequencies. The Collar B&F have has been adap
  3. Hasty, Havoc, Britt, Vixen, Bracken, Briar, Fern, Bramble, Megan, Mantle, Rags, Patt, Trudy, Bonney, Viper, Venom, Poison, Nipper, Tantrum, Rook, Raven and the list goes on. Sometimes a Dog seems to resemble a Name you give it, if you get my drift.
  4. Why the two questions at the end of your Post J Darcy? Yes I am an experienced Terrierman, what has experience got to do with new technology? I haven't written any Books to prove I am experienced, is that it? I don't think I have Bred that many Terrier Pups in my life and only sold about 6 EVER. There seems to be some confusion as to why I am selling some stuff and the amount of Posts in the Classified section! £300 is a lot of money. I have to sell things to help get that money, If I want to get one of the new systems. I have a Mortgage, Wife, Kids, a Car to keep on the Road, blah, blah, b
  5. My apologies 'chief' it seemed to me as though it was directed at me, sorry. Yes I sold the Ruger and some Nets. I want some more of those white ones....NOW THE PENNY HAS DROPPED! They set real nice (when I use them..... I do want some more though definitely.
  6. Somebody with a smart Mouth and a Moderator too! The reason for my Post was to get information which includes what you have given. I didn't want any sarcastic undertones, just some help from some genuine guys, who have actually used the two different systems. What about the digging side of things??..........well when you get to an Earth and put a Dog in, there comes a time when you have to find where it is. With me so far 'chief'? When you find it there are times when it is under Pylons, Fences, next to old galvanised Roofing Sheets, under Cars which have been dumped in the Farmers 'personal
  7. I was asking about the new long range Locator mate. Sorry I thought it was called the mark 3. Whatever it is I want to know the difference between the Deben 40 feet one and the B&F one. Actually for the digging side of things
  8. I am a bit old fashioned and a bit tight too, out of necessity. The Bellman and Flint Locators I have been told are good. I have a problem with somebody using an already established idea, mixing with it a little and asking more than the original actually costs. The B&F Locators are the Pieps Avalanche ones, which have been around for decades, the Collar has been made smaller, but the idea and mechanics are the same. They can be bought, as is, from the Web cheaper than the B&F ones. I know a good Terrier is worth it's weight in Gold, which is the sales pitch for these Locators, but ther
  9. The Night vis device is a NZT-2W made by Rostov. I have the original instructions, comes with a soft Case and I will chuck in a spare Battery. There is a Website for them just do a search, I haven't a clue about putting Pics up. The Website will tell you everything about them.
  10. I have a small CCTV system for sale. There is a colour Camera and remote reciever. It is internal or external. It is a 'Micromark Wireless colour Camera kit' retails in B&Q for £99.95. Plugs into the back of your current Family TV or you can buy a small portable colour TV. Keep your Kennels and Gardens secure and help catch the scumbags after YOUR Dogs, which may have taken Years to get!! I want £65 for it plus P&P, never been used or even opened. I also have a hand held monocular Night Vision device. Hardly used, just kept in the Land Rover. It is Russian and has a built in Infra
  11. I didn't say anything about it being built NOT to last or look good, 'lone wolf'. I know how it goes mate, but I would think something more discreet and not so imposing would keep the other half even happier. I wasn't actually directing my comments towards anyone in particular, just adding to the conversation because the guy was originally asking for some help and ideas. A Dog in the wild would not use a big Shed to live in, it would choose a small cosey little corner of one or under a nice dry Rock. I do not care if anyone wants to build a small Palace, it is their money.
  12. The easiest and quickest way to get fat into a Dogs body is by using pre-digested fat. It assimilates real quick and they love it!!......How do you give it to them? Just buy some Beef dripping from the Butchers or a generic Supermarket brand. It does work and they will snatch your Hand off to get it. When I use it I melt and drizzle it over Kibble or whatever the Dog is having that Night. There are other things, but just make sure it is pre-digested, namely Animal Fats. I give a mixture of this and a Broth to Pups on cold Days, as they will lose weight real quick just keeping warm. I am not
  13. I hope this Pic is not seen by too many Lurcher boys. Shooting Hares and at Night!!......sacrilage!...some might say.
  14. I have done several Chest shots, but don't like them much. It seems to ruin too much Meat for my liking and the insides are everywhere etc, etc. I try my hardest for a Neck or Head shot. I know it depends how far away you are and what is behind the Target, but I still try my hardest for the Head shots. I use a Browning .243 with a T8 attached and the Winchester Ammunition, I also use an adjustable Bipod. For a Chest shot it couldn't have been any better though.
  15. I have been around the Terriers since Plummer started this Project of his. He was a shreud and educated Man, but not an out and out 'digging man'. He first started 'The Project' to prove he could do it, not for the betterment of the Terrier. Once he was told he couldn't do it he tried even harder. He wanted to be up there with Parson Russell and it seems to have worked with a lot of guys who now keep 'Plummer Terriers' and see little wrong in them. It took quite a while to get these Dogs to breed 'true to type' and become uniformed. There was a great deal of culling and inbreeding. Eventuall
  16. I will be honest with you. I have found over the Years that some guys build far too big a Kennel Run and sleeping area. It is nice to have them fairly tall to aid owners cleaning etc, but it is not essential to have them above three feet high. How tall is the average Terrier? Just take steps to stop them getting out over the top. The other thing is that you want the Run section big enough for the Dogs to not have to walk in their own mess. I would say a six feet by four feet Run is a nice size. The sleeping Box wants to be just that, a Box size. It wants to be draught free and fully waterproof
  17. "What's that Skippy, the Kids have fallen down the Mine Shaft and can't get out"?
  18. It is usually a combination of things which can cause this. Her being unfit, the restricted air in a tight place and the adrenalin dropping which has caused her to be 'up' as it were. Sometimes you can help your Dogs out by ensuring you keep the area around their heads totally clear of Earth and Mud and don't try to draw the Fox with the Dog latched on, it is very early still and they will get fitter and stronger with work. If they collapse a good chest massage and clearing the Mouth and Throat of Earth will ensure clear airways. Fur can also get in there and clog things up. I have had a few g
  19. I am going to do some Sea Fishing this Year from my Boat. I will be doing Wreck and general Mooching about the Coast Line of the South West. I have been Sea Fishing once before in my Life and that was Years ago. It was on a Boat where you hire the Kit and the Boat for the whole Day. I want to buy my own gear now I have a Boat. Can anyone recommend a cheap set-up for me to be able to go and enjoy different types of Fishing from a Boat. If you go to a Shop they are good at selling you the best gear for them to make a good profit on! I know nothing about Fishing Gear, makes and models of Rods
  20. What the Anti Hunt People and their supporters do not realise is that in order for an Animal to perform at it's best, it needs to have the best of care. When has anyone, who works Lurchers, ever seen a emaciated Mange ridden Skeleton on someones Yard?.....I would hazzard a guess at never! I have seen more GENUINE cruelty cases originate from Pet Homes and Puppy Farms than any Working Homes. Although I am not trying to make excuses for these People, the Veterinary Practices around the Country do not help. An example would be the fact that it costs anywhere from £200 and up just to have D
