  1. The possible drop in 'performance' for the average 'WORKING DOG' would not make much difference to a nights lamping or a days Ferreting or Mooching. It is a pain if you want to go out 'in company', but other than that it makes very little difference to the quality of 'sport' you will get. Although this Site does have some good contributors, there are others who think too much.....lol. The Greyhound boys are very knowledgable, although I have heard some shite at some Tracks I have occasionally been to, but they are talking about a drop in performance. A drop of a second in the Bitches time is
  2. Although there are some decent clips on 'You Tube', I think all the 'Kick ups' not given at least 50 yards 'law' should be edited out or taken down. There are some really special dogs on there and the 'kick up' merchants slipping straight away takes it away from the ones who deserve to be on there. Perhaps if only the runs where 'law' is given, we might get back to some 'HONOURABLE' SLIPS. yes some names were guilty too, when there was a weeks or months wages on it....lol.
  3. #################SOLD############### Ghengis has asked me, due to Internet access limitations, to say his Pup has gone ###############SOLD###############
  4. Looking for any information about this female, 'Looks the Business' is her KC Name and she was called 'Tip' when I had her, DOB 22/05/08. I started her working, but no matter what I tried, she always 'opened up' when chasing anything. She wasn't over faced OR entered too young (12 Months old on easy Rabbits), but BARKING is just something she picked up and I WOULDN'T and WON'T tolerate IN ANY RUNNING DOG. I sold her when she was around 16-17 Months old in 2009, to a lad in Wales, who came down and we took her out 'lamping', she never put a foot wrong, catching, retrieving and straight back to
  5. I used to be in the Forces, back in the early 's and we were all issued Helmets from WW11 and post WW11, along with ancient Fighting Orders etc, etc. THESE Helmets seem too well made for the time, but I have no experience of the collecting side of things.
  6. I have a Turner Richards Dummy Launcher to sell, sat not doing anything. It fires .22 blanks which propels the Dummy AND simulates the bang of a Gun. I would like £50 plus P&P or swap for a working Deben mrk1 Ferret Collar and you pay p&p for both items.
  7. It wasn't that long ago a large female Gos was about £2,000 and a male £1,000, going the same way as the Harris Hawk, loads breeding and pricing to sell. Albidus is the new 'want' now and the new Rolls Royce!
  8. Sometimes guys use too thick a Mesh Board and thinking the knot is pulled tight it sometimes isn't and when the Board is removed for the next row, there can be some slips and meshes getting screwed up.
  9. Turner Richards, with orange dummy and a Box of mid range cartridges, all working and excellent condition £60 delivered.
  10. I will probably have some this year. One Litter will be a 'micro' (? whatever they call them these days...lol) Gill and a smaller than average Hob. The second Litter will be the 'micros Son put to the small Sister of the first Litters Hob. You can see what I am trying to get, always liked the smaller Ferrets. I like them for Rats, they come out the Nets easier and they don't hold the Rabbits below ground. IF any live through to selling age they will be available, after keeping a couple back for myself. I am in the South West
  11. I have one, Turner Richards, orange Dummy and Box of Cartridges (yellow) mid range. £60 posted.
  12. Lovely set of Knives, finished well.............and then you go and not bother with a Lanyard hole.....can you do them retrospectively?
  13. Yes.....even if it means jumping on someones permission because he is unfortunate enough to be working?! Is it just me being 'old school', seems it is, seeing as he is being pat on the Back.
  14. I make Knife Lanyards, one would finish that Knife off nicely.
  15. I think opposite, there are ways to get them done later, painlessly and easily....once cut off you can't stick it back on. As said Tails don't effect the standard of work
  16. You either got the Bitch from someone who doesn't know what they are doing when it comes to 'docking', she was done by a Vet or you got her from someone who didn't want her to go to a 'Show home'? Strong Bitch, 'Doggy' type of Bitch, which I like, but with my Leg and after years and years of going up and down the Country I will pass on her. Bit of a bad time of year to be bringing on a novice, they get frustrated with the way the prey behaves.......anyway, good luck with the sale. Similar to the type I have seen a few times around from the Loch Lomond area, in years gone by.
  17. I got one, Turner and Richards with orange dummy and around 90 medium range cartridges. 55 for the lot plus post and packing.
  18. There are many instances where owners of dogs have said ..........."he/she has never done it before"! When interviewed by the Police, after a mauling or death! For the dog to have done what you say once, it is in him to do it again, deep down.........trust me. No EXCUSES, ifs or buts.....PTS.
  19. I have tried several different types of Jesse, always up for new ideas. I don't like the Braided ones. My Birds found it fun to pull on the 'Buttons' and the Jesses and after a while of 'playing' I used to have to go and untangle it all. I make and use a type of 'Bullet Jesses', with a fixed in place washer to stop the Birds pulling them up through the Eyelet and causing tangles. Using a fairly light duty swivel helps prevent the swivel flipping through the Jesses and tangling the Leash with the Jesses, when the Bird regains it's Perch. FOR ME the 'Bullet Jesses' I make are what suits me, espe
  20. It would seem the Arab dollar is sweeter and more plentiful than the English Pound. Been looking into getting a decent Pere for a few years now, always flown longwing hybrids. Tiercels haven't been too hard to find, but after a Falcon. Any breeders out there, supplying the domestic market? What sort of prices are 2012 Birds likely to be?
  21. £ posted........EXCELLENT PRICE, cost £6 to send next day delivery, plus packaging.
  22. Excellent condition Nighteater Scope. Comes with screw on extendable Sunshade, Lens cap, up to 500mtr side parallex. 6x24x56. Really good bit of kit, came off my .17 Hmr. Rabbit head shots at 200 paces no problem! Holds the zero well and never been knocked about. £90 posted, south west area.
  23. Rephrase the question mate. I would ask "How many adult mid winter Foxes have you caught and killed with one dog, in one night"?
  24. No money arrived as yet, but will let you know if falls through. I do have another set, but having Ferrets and Hawks, not decided yet whether I am keeping it. I actually have 2 8ft Collars, 3 8ft Boxes and 1 15ft Box, with a 15ft Transmitter attached to replacement Collar.
