I really do love chickpeas. As a healthy option, they are cheap and nutritious. Major plus side, if you cook them properly, they take on flavours really well. I find they work best with middle eastern/indian flavours. Although some European dishes work too. E.g. I'm pretty sure that sub saharan Africans are the only human race without Neanderthal DNA in their genome from original interbreeding with Neanderthals (30,000+ years ago). They carry it because of breeding with European and middle eastern populations, around 6-10,000 years ago, until present day. Every human from non sub Saharan populations, carry a minimum of 2% Neanderthal DNA, Africans much less (around 1%) and the further south in Africa you go, the % becomes less and less, until non existent.
