Tbf I can be a bit blunt on this topic. Past trauma of being indoctrinated ? True story, when I first moved here and I was with the Mexican girl, I didn’t speak a word of Spanish. Walked into the cathedral during mass and suddenly knew everything being said like a bloody native.

Never perfectly hence why most of the world hold French as the perfect legalese. Because it is so precise. but what we are discussing here is not just about translation besides the fact that most of the languages were dead by the time Constantine and the Bishops got together. You have to understand that it was translated from completely non related languages. It’s almost impossible to be accurate. For example.. ‘Tengo ambre’ means I am hungry. The literal translation would be ‘I have hunger’. Now I know what it means so I can use my judgment to translate it to English. When

Faith in a book constructed by organised religion, made so they can profit from it and to serve organised religion ?? All Christian faith is based upon the council of Nicaeas Bible mate. If I rewrote Harry Potter in Spanish, left half the story out and then got a random French bloke to translate into Latin and then a Greek to put it back to English, would it be worth reading in comparison to the original? That’s exactly what these men did and more importantly, they had something very real to gain from putting what served the narrative and kept control of the masses.

Bingo mate ? Books, texts, letters, correspondence, legal recordings from the period and all manner of scripture was basically cast aside, left out and what fit the created narrative was left in.

See this always makes me chuckle. Native Arab speakers can’t agree what certain texts mean written in yep Arabic, same with the Jews and the Tora both have been arguing about it for 1000’s of years. So how the bugger can someone believe a book translated from multiple languages into a completely non related language, by hundreds of people, over hundreds of years. Then translated again from those texts into English (king James bible), another completely non related language 1500 years later? Had a wee barney with the mrs last night about anthropomorphising animals. Came home and she’s skriking about the bigger cat (my daughter’s) knocking the fuuck out of the smaller cat (hers). Apparently the bigger one went for the choke hold. Remove the skin off the skull very carefully, sew the eyelids and mouth up and make the shape of the head and cure/mummify it…. Very basic explanation. I’ll see if I can find that doc I watched and I’ll post it up mate. @W. Katchum You’re a cnut ??

Aye the second type mate, made for Victorians. One was in a museum and they DNA tested it and it turned out to be a woman ? Women were never warriors in this culture (some tribe in Ecuador I think it was) and only defeated warriors had their heads shrunk.

Love the Leeds armouries. Went when it first opened years ago. If you like that sort of thing and history to boot…. Valletta in Malta is for you. They have some amazing museums with 1000’s of years of history. Take a walk along battlements, built since before the Romans and added to over the millennia. Amazing to look at something that was there when crusaders passed through… oh and the love the Brit’s ? Funnily enough I watched a documentary the other day about shrunken heads. Apparently 90% are fakes.
