  1. Do they not get too hot and sweaty?? I know I have neoprene lined aigle boots and they sweat like hell. Also where did you get them at that price??
  2. I totally agree with you CB thats the whole point in the forum to ask questions about things that your not certain of or are thinking about using. I think we all want the best for our dogs welfare etc.I haven't found anything better.
  3. Lol uncle Ray doesn't explain that thats why they warm up so easily with the dogs body heat.I don't think uncle Ray has used them to put his terriers in they really are the best that I have used.If used on quad we used to put rubber matting then fill with straw, very cosy. But if in pickup etc you dont even need the straw.I haven't found a better box,a mate used a plastic one and his dog chewed out of it!
  4. Good do nice terriers keep it up!
  5. I have been using them for years and they keep dogs very warm in winter and cool enough in summer. We use rubber matting on floor when taken from the box when wet and cold the box has soon warmed up with the heat of the dog. Also dogs don't sweat from their skin like we do just lose moisture from the mouth and pads of feet. We have found them to be very good bits of kit chew proof and easy to clean.
  6. No probs Ray glad to have been able to help.Don't think you'll have any problems with him, lol. Sorry I didn't see this post a mate told me tonight that you had put it on. Any time mate, all the best.
  7. Thats because a lot of the bigger more muscular russells that you see at shows theses days are white lakeys and thats why they are harder than your older Russell types.
  8. Yes D theres Russells and theres white lakeys masqueraded as Russells.
  9. If you dont want it for earthwork, why both with a Patterdale...????? It will end in grief
  10. As dee mac says will end in tears due to the terriers nature.I had a mate that used a russell for years and I always warned him but he said they are brought up together etc etc, then one day hawk nailed rabbit, terrier grabbed rabbit, hawk footed terrier then she retaliated and took back talon off hawk, hawk then rendered useless. As dee mac says use a gundog tried and tested over many years dog for job. I have used pointers and spaniels with great results, depends what type of hawk your flying.
  11. Thanks for the info RD its much appreciated, cheers
  12. Thanks for the info, where did you actually get yours from?
  13. Sometimes you may get a fox thats behind some rocks that you cant shift, you may be able to see him but can't reach him.If you had a gun you'd be able to humanely despatch.I know its not difficult, but I have used one and compared to a .22 or a .410 they are a poor substitute. As you say if you can't get a firearm then yes it would be better than nothing.
  14. RD did you get stung on the import duty??
  15. They are a hefty lump to carry around and aren't any use unless the fox is in hand.
  16. not been on here for a while , sorry chap. Not dug another but she bolted one from a big old place in the woods. She's as keen as mustard, got a lovely voice on her! Keep her at it,let us know how she goes on..!
  17. Thats the trouble in this game you do people a favour and they shit on you from a great height! I had a similar thing happen to me,caught the tosser out and he paid up the stud fee.Won't lend anyone a dog to breed now, once bitten twice shy! Forgot to say, take the drive! Its worth it.
  18. More accurate than the Barryvox pulse in my opinion having used both, and the size is handy when covered in shit,no batteries to bother with and it can be fixed if need be here in the UK .Without the need to send abroad. Also my mate sent a new box back to Ortovox as it let water in and they wouldn't replace or repair saying it was his fault.Plus you can set feet and inches or metres and cm.In my opinion a lot of pluses and its purpose made for the job, shock resistant and waterproof.
  19. It was another mate of mine that made the T pin that you are talking about.I have both types and Barrys is far superior the swivel is nice and quiet and works to perfection. The T pin with stainless ring jangles about when you are walking and pisses me off. Also a bit cumbersome when walking long distances. These new pins are excellent quality and swivel well and there is nothing to clang about when your on your feet.I have been testing them for a while for him, also easy to push into the ground as fitted with a mini treadplate.Another quality piece of kit from Flying Fox.
  20. Yes but Dave You are talking about Cornish terriermen......1
  21. Had a pair they leaked first day out, sent them back to Hamish and he said that they weren't leaking.Had a battle royale with him to get my money back had to involve trading standards etc.I did get my cash back in the end but it took from Christmas to I think it was the end of March or later before he coughed up.Although I do have friends that swear by them...!
  22. Cheers derbylad they look good. The ones that we use are very good they are tight and designed to wick the sweat away from your skin. They also come in long and short sleeve and are not very expensive. Cheers.
