It was going so well, untill it all went wrong...........
socks replied to a topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
you have never come accross as liar or bullshitter mate but i find it really hard to believe that an 19 inch high dog weighing in at 18 pounds would pull down and nearly kill a fully grown roe deer in the few seconds it took you to get to it .... did you actually see the dog do this or are you assuming thats what happened ??? could the deer have damaged itslef going over or through the fence because it was panicked at being chased by the dog ??? either way you have some nice meat there .......... -
ditch i have used these in the past whilst doing variouse protection training jobs and although they are a good clip they are very easy to accidently release ... you have an 80lbs plus dog excitedly bouncing around and you go in to calm him down and before you know it he is off and running and you are left there wondering how the feck that happened ............
-
you are obviously retarted and dont actually own a working lurcher ... a dog doesnt have to be pulling a sled to be carrying out endurance work ... a dog that is having between 30 and 50 runs a night on the lamp is certainly in the bracket for endurance work if you believe otherwise then give up dogs and keep cats .............
-
firstly i didnt say dogs ONLY dervive their energy from fats ... but dogs need a fatty diet if they are being worked hard .... of course they can get energy from carbs and protein the same as any other animal .... but a hard worked dog needs a fatty diet FACT .... below is the proof you wanted ... i could go on googling forever to prove to you what i allready knew .... but i think the extracts below will prove my point sufficently ......... HAVE A READ ......... Endurance athletes are much more dependent upon the oxidative energy systems. These athletes would benefit from a higher pe

hey stupid do a little research and then come back on here and apologise DOGS DERIVE THEIR ENERGY FROM FATS FACT .........

your dogs will not get bloat from eating a 1/4 of their meal before going out or will they get it from eating a full meal when they get back as long as they have rested adequately ....... have a look at this site HERE

if you normally feed your dog at night then decide to go lamping and not give your dog a meal your are expecting a dog with an empty stomach (empty fuel tank) to run all night and perform well ..... the dog wont have eaten in 24 hours and is then expected to have enough energy reserves to work hard for you !!!!!!!! ... it takes a dog 12 hourse to digest a full meal so feeding a 1/4 of the dogs normal meal 4 to 5 hourse before a lamping session is fine .... dogs get their energy from fats not pasta or eggs or any other amazing type of miracle diet .... FATS SIMPLE AS ... my dogs get fed a 1/4

his kennels are ok they are enviromental health inspected regualary the bad storys you ear are off people who have never been and seen them if you honestly believe that the state of them fecking kennels in that rat infested shit hole are ok then you shouldnt be allowed to keep dogs ... i have seen p***y dogs in better nick than them poor little critters that are farmed in that dirty old b a s t a r d s hovel ... unsolalised undernourished whelps that were the result of the union between an uproven and unworked stud put over a failed track greyhound ...... it says all about the man when ..

and i will say it once more for the little slow amongst us .. this is what the fella asked .... quote ... What do you carry in your first aid kit ...... and this what i replied ... quote ..... i carry a basic surgical kit and fluids as the most common injurys are going to be cuts dehydration or shock .... with this kit i am able to carry out the essential work needed to get the dog sorted untill you get them home to treat them properly ............ now not once did i promote the use of or explain how to use or suggest others use fluids or any of the other items of my kit .... i mere

a fen dog is a marothen runner and like marothen runners muscle is a necesity they dont need ... salukis are not muscle bound dogs for the pure and simple reason that after a prolonged distance run the lactic acid in the muscle would cramp the dog up and pull him short on a long run .... for the fens good stamina is the essential ingrediance .... lung power is key ....... however the lamp dog is a sprint master and like all sprint athletes by dint of their work they will build muscle as they are using their short twitch muscles ... rabbit spotted sprint out catch back ... ra

i ahd something similar with my eldest daughter ... her history teacher was preaching to the class how hunting was a barbaric and outdated pursuite ... my daughter then put in her two peneth and tried to stick up for her dad only to be given a detention by the teacher for daring to question her ..... needles to say she didint do the detention and i whent into the school and dememned a chat with the headteacher ... i asked him if i could see the terms xcuriculam for history .... after a puzzled look he produced it ... so i sat there for 15 minuets reading through the modules that must be ta -

ok mate i carry mine in the truck at all times and change the solution when the run out date is up ... i have used it on the greyhound track during a trialing session in the summer when some knobber ran his dog 3 times in one morning ..... i have used it on terriers that have been to ground for a long time and when we got to him he had gone into shock .............. as you can see from the above the dogs in question could not have waited to see a vet or they would have died .......... i set the giving set to a medium drip and i give fluids untill you see a noticable recovery ie respo
-
so people shouldnt put up a picture of a gun then incase somebody else gets one the same and shoots somebody ??? ....... so if a dog needs fluids that badly then you would rather drive the hour to the vet and risk the dog dying on the journey compared with giving the dog fluids there and then and saving its life ....... i know how to use every bit of kit in that roll and have used it on a fair few occasions under a little more pressusre than a little darkness ........ the original question was .... what do YOU carry in your first aid kit .... NOT what do you suggest we carry in o

i dont know mate i made that one up myself .........

i carry a basic surgical kit and fluids as the most common injurys are going to be cuts dehydration or shock .... with this kit i am able to carry out the essential work needed to get the dog sorted untill you get them home to treat them properly ............ SURGICAL KIT ........... FLUIDS ....... SOME OF THE KIT IN THE GARAGE .........

what about soldiers that have lost limbs in iraq and afghan being asked to leave a swimming pool where they were having rehab treatment because the mothers complained that their kids were getting upset .... NOW THAT TELLS YOU WHAT THE BRITISH PUBLIC THINKS OF ITS INJURED HEROES .....................

THE GOVERNMENT GUIDLINE IS THAT YOU CAN KEEP 17 CHICKENS PER 1 METER SQUARE AND THEY ONLY HAVE TO HAVE 30 MINS DARKNESS TO SLEEP IN EVERY 24 HOUR PERIOD .... AND WE HAVE THE CHEEK TO ACCUSE OTHER COUNTRIES OF BEING BARBARIC ............

so because you dont happen to agree with my statement it must be a stupid one .... tell me oh font of all knowledge how long have you been in the lurcher game and how many lamping daytime dogs have you reared and trained from pups and actually owned ........
