  1. a fen dog is a marothen runner and like marothen runners muscle is a necesity they dont need ... salukis are not muscle bound dogs for the pure and simple reason that after a prolonged distance run the lactic acid in the muscle would cramp the dog up and pull him short on a long run .... for the fens good stamina is the essential ingrediance .... lung power is key ....... however the lamp dog is a sprint master and like all sprint athletes by dint of their work they will build muscle as they are using their short twitch muscles ... rabbit spotted sprint out catch back ... ra

  4. i ahd something similar with my eldest daughter ... her history teacher was preaching to the class how hunting was a barbaric and outdated pursuite ... my daughter then put in her two peneth and tried to stick up for her dad only to be given a detention by the teacher for daring to question her ..... needles to say she didint do the detention and i whent into the school and dememned a chat with the headteacher ... i asked him if i could see the terms xcuriculam for history .... after a puzzled look he produced it ... so i sat there for 15 minuets reading through the modules that must be ta

  8. ok mate i carry mine in the truck at all times and change the solution when the run out date is up ... i have used it on the greyhound track during a trialing session in the summer when some knobber ran his dog 3 times in one morning ..... i have used it on terriers that have been to ground for a long time and when we got to him he had gone into shock .............. as you can see from the above the dogs in question could not have waited to see a vet or they would have died .......... i set the giving set to a medium drip and i give fluids untill you see a noticable recovery ie respo
  9. so people shouldnt put up a picture of a gun then incase somebody else gets one the same and shoots somebody ??? ....... so if a dog needs fluids that badly then you would rather drive the hour to the vet and risk the dog dying on the journey compared with giving the dog fluids there and then and saving its life ....... i know how to use every bit of kit in that roll and have used it on a fair few occasions under a little more pressusre than a little darkness ........ the original question was .... what do YOU carry in your first aid kit .... NOT what do you suggest we carry in o
  10. i dont know mate i made that one up myself .........
  11. i carry a basic surgical kit and fluids as the most common injurys are going to be cuts dehydration or shock .... with this kit i am able to carry out the essential work needed to get the dog sorted untill you get them home to treat them properly ............ SURGICAL KIT ........... FLUIDS ....... SOME OF THE KIT IN THE GARAGE .........

  13. THE GOVERNMENT GUIDLINE IS THAT YOU CAN KEEP 17 CHICKENS PER 1 METER SQUARE AND THEY ONLY HAVE TO HAVE 30 MINS DARKNESS TO SLEEP IN EVERY 24 HOUR PERIOD .... AND WE HAVE THE CHEEK TO ACCUSE OTHER COUNTRIES OF BEING BARBARIC ............
  14. so because you dont happen to agree with my statement it must be a stupid one .... tell me oh font of all knowledge how long have you been in the lurcher game and how many lamping daytime dogs have you reared and trained from pups and actually owned ........

  16. socks you want to stick to greyhounds, mark what the rack record holding open class winning ones ........... a h wasnt your dad the brains behind that sucess LOL YHEA I DID FECK ALL LOL ............
  17. thats a bit on the harsh side socks, you are basicaly saying anyone who enjoys lamping are numb feckers, i actually agree with you that a proper daytime dog is a lot more well trained than 99.9 percent of lamping dogs, but as you know yourself as i guess over the years you have done your fair share of lamping that a dog with drive and determination will put you game in the bag in good numbers, from time to time you witness a dog which is a little different they make things luck almost to easy and with style and are very well trained. i wasnt saying that mate as i do my fair share of lam
  18. I agree a dog should know where to stand. A dog whatever its used for has to have brains saying a dog needs more brains for ferreting is a stupid statement! Some of the best dogs I have seen day or night always no where to place themselfs to shorten the odds for a kill. have you actually done a substancive amount of ferreting with a dog ???
  19. tell me oh lurcher master where have i been wrong regarding the working lurcher ??? .... i know a litle more then most on here and not as much as others regarding the lurcher but iam sure i know more then one, mark ......... yhea thats why had to give you a lesson on why your dogs had border collie in their make up ............
  20. thats the whole point you shouldnt have to stand a BRAINY DAYTIME DOG ... it will stand itself using its own BRAIN .... i regularly ferret warrens with with a hundered holes how the hell am i supposed to stand the dog where the rabbit is going to come out ??? ... i am good but i aint that good ...........
  21. socks you want to stick to greyhounds, mark what the rack record holding open class winning ones ...........
  22. rabbits dont wake up all bleary eyed like humans and have to have a cup of coffee to get going in the morning ..... when they leave that burry by whicher sneaky little bolt hole they chose they know exactly where they are running to ... where the cover is ... where the hole under the fence is ... where the next safe warren is where they can go and theyre persuer cant .... anybody that has done a lot of ferreting will have had their superior running machine bettered by the humble old bunny ... for he has to know is land and all his escape routes to stay alive .............
  23. a lamping dog needs as much brains as a lamping dog owner ... DUH f**k ALL ...........
  24. some people need education on all species before they get it ..........
  25. ferrets for 30 years ??? strange you were buying some only the other month ??? oh well ...... now all you have said is that the dog has to have good recall a good retrieve be stock broken and ? well thats about it realy ... everything else you have mentioned has nothing to do with brains ... being fast jumping etc etc ..... how does a rabbit running in the dark controlled by the beam run quicker and harder than a daytime rabbit ??? i think you will find that a rabbit in broad daylight is a harder animal to catch than a nightime one (much the same as the hare ... pre ban of course) ... a lamp d
