  2. ALL bones only splinter when they have been BAKED IN AN OVEN raw or boiled bones are absolutely fine .............. 7 WEEKS OLD AND ENJOYING HERSELF .............
  3. 5/8 ... 3/8 is a nice type i had one myself a few years ago (some of you may remember ) BUT the dog didnt like me and i didnt like the dog ... the dog never wanted to do anything for me and in return i never really put my heart into training the dog .... shame really as she caould have been a handy dog ... HOWEVER the fecking dog was like s h i t of a shovel ... if i owned her now taht i live where i do i would have an overflowing freezer ...........
  4. juckler there is no scientific or common sense reason why a larger dog of exactly the same breeding as a smaller version would have less stamina ... i have wittnessed plenty of 3/4 breds run and they have had plenty of wind .... i have a first cross bitch here that will run all night and all day .... if i bred her to a coursing greyhound then it matters not what size the pups made fact is they will have plenty of stamina ............
  5. so are you saying that the smaller type 3/4 collie greys had stamina ??? or are you saying that smaller type crosses like 1/4 beddy 3/4 grey have more stamina ??? ............
  6. for the love of god this is the simplest form of animal husbandry .... removing ticks curing fleas and worms should be second nature to anybody with working animals ..... right hold the ferret by the scruff with your thumb and forefinger this will render the ferret imobile .... then use a tick hook and remove the thing .... if you cant get one then using the thumb and forefinger of the other other hand grip the tick as close to the ferrets skin as possible and twist anticlockwise and pull the same time ... hey presto tick and legs all out ... once removed crush the parisite untill it pops to m
  7. strangely enough i have got a little experience in the collie based blood lined dogs ... and your statements are utter nonsence .... yes bitches are generealy smaller in MOST breeds of dogs but that doesnt mean that they are leaner ... you can have dogs just as lean as bitches just slightly higher in the leg ... as for saying taht most 3/4 bred dogs are to heavy and large to catch rabbits what a crock of s h i t a regular sized track greyhounds will catch rabbits with ease so how in the hell by having a 1/4 collie in them will taht sudenly make them heavily built and to large to be proficien
  8. FIRST CROSS COLLIE GREY .... DOESNT LOOK VERY HEAVY TO ME ................. and for the record will run ANYTHING no matter how far away ...........
  9. a dog that is fit has the ability to recover very quickly from a hard run and has its tongue in quickly and is ready to go again .... for example a dog that is fit should easily be able to run 20 rabbits on the beam one after another and not be taxed .... stamina is the ability to run at speed for a prolonged time and distance with no respite as a dog on a good winter hare is required to do (pre ban of course) but to be a succsesfull dog in the field you need to have both in equal measures otherwise your dog with exceptional stamina will catch the said hare but will be no good for the rest of
  10. giro that is absolutely correct .... how can you tell by looking at a picture if a dog is fit or not ... you couldnt tell if a a dog was fit or not if you handeled it and checked it over for an hour .... what you could tell is that the dog was muscled and proportioned and taht the muscle mass firm and well balanced on the dog .... the only way you can tell a dogs fitness is by watching it run game after game and gauging his stamina and recovery time after each run depending on its duration and ground covered ...............
  11. roysten is correct ... muscle definition is no guide to stamina ... yes it shows that the dog is in good nick and has good muscle tone which by the way is easily achieved with short high intensity training rather than the type of training needed to condition a dog for stamina ... however a dog that is over muscled and not fit will suffer with lactic acid build up and will cramp up before his hunting session is finished .... you need to give your dogs a cross training program to get them muscled up nicely for early pure speed and then the lungs to enable them to keep going .............. a fishing net will be no good to you mate ... they are not made from nylon they have no bag and the mesh size will be wrong ...........
  14. grapes and raisins are safe to feed in small amounts ... problems occure when large amounts are fed on a regular basis .... so unless you are giving your dog a bunch of grapes every other night then dont worry ............
  15. have a look at the list below and that will give you a good idea of whet to feed and what not to feed ... i feed all mine raw as fruite and veg will lose vitamins and minerals even if lightly steamed ... i generally just blend them up or run them through a mincer ... as a rough guide i give my dogs 2 fruite and 3 veg and i feed same as meat so a pound of meat = pound of mixed fruite and veg ....... Good Veggies' & Fruits to Feed (Foods you can feel good about feeding. Add lots of green leafy vegetables) Courgettes- Romaine (COS) Lettuce - High nutritional value Ice Berg Lettu

BUT, without wanting to sound nasty when you join the forces you do it in the knowledge that you will at some point maybe putting your life on the line for another mans cause. yes and that would be fine if the other mans cause was to protect the homeland in which you were brought up and where your loved ones live ... however it is a different situation alltogether when lads are sent out to iraq
  19. the link below is to sing a petition to keep swansea greyhound track open and not turn it into an industrial sight as the council wish ... now i know that this wont effect many people on here but in a few months swansea greyhound track will be the last track in wales and as running dog enthusiasts i hope you can support us in keeping this track open by taking a couple of seconds to sign the petition ..... many thanks ....... SIGN HERE ........

  21. raise a glass indeed ... the only sorrow i have is that there will never be a rememberence or a memorial for all the service men who have lost their lives in iraq as it is seen as a peace keeping mission and not a war .... if the poloticians spent a day with any front line troops out there they would soon realise that they are indeed in a war zone ............
  22. give me a bell and i will send the boys over to give you a hand with your removals .....
