  1. for it to be the opposite front and rear legs on a diagonal angle i would suspect that would be a back problem ... a twisted or pulled muscle or he has pinched a nerve on the turn maybe ..............
  2. well you cant have her .............
  3. they are both scabby collie curs ...................
  4. had tegan resting all last week as she has been under the weather and has lost 5lb in weight but after Fridays successful roe deer stalk i reckoned she was telling me that she was starting to feel better so myself chalkwarren and thebigfish had a little walk out on our mutual permission, we all things to do in the afternoon so we whent out for a quick couple of hours sport .... we had a great days sport using the longnets and bolting for the dogs to run ...... anyway i will let the pics do the talking ......... photos courtesy of thebigfish ............. TEGAN AND HONEY WAITING........
  5. it will be butchered tommorow and the feezer filled .......... make sure gralloch it a bit sharpish else it will be fit for feck all only the bin it has been hanging since friday thats plenty .... it was gralloched an hour later ..............
  6. it will be butchered tommorow and the feezer filled ..........
  7. he was a very nice man ...............
  8. i was out walking tegan on friday afternoon when i came accross a fella who had shot a roe and it had run on so i cast off tegan to track it ... the roe was around 90 yards away when she seen it and she closed the ground very fast ... she made this an easy and efficient track ... not bad for 17 month old 23 inch collie cur
  9. depending on how badly torn they are i cut them off the healing process is a lot quicker as the risk of infection getting inside a healing cut is negated and if the dog doesnt have a stopper hanging off then it cant catch it on anything .... if you take them off it has to be done immediately after they have been damaged .............. this bitch was running again with no probs in less than 2 weeks ..........

    BODMIN MOOR

feck me bodmin moor is full of nut jobs  ... deliverance has feck all on that place ..............
  11. i think i proved that what i was saying was correct ... how about you prove me wrong then fella ...............
  12. rob i wasnt talking about giving the dog a full meal ... i am saying to give the dog a fatty meal of about 1/4 of what he normally has 5 hours prior to lamping ... this meal will be fully digested by the time you go out and the fat converted to energy waiting to be used as the dog depletes his energy source over the course of a hard nights lamping ...........
  13. yes mate they will come loose with no human contact at all ... if the chain lead etc becomes twisted knotted etc sand rubs up against it when under tension it will pop open ... also the dog can rub against something and the action will be released ... i would class them as 85% safe ............
  14. what you must remember when keeping more than one dog is to give them all the equal amount of work ... keeping one dog as a back up just doesnt work as the dog will have seen so little work that it will be of little use to you when you finally get it out in the field ... i know so many blokes that keep more than one dog but will always send (old bob) out on the difficult rabbit or lamp (old nell) when the weather is spot on .... all your dogs should be given an equal chance so that you are not using a '' back up dog'' instead you have one laid up so you are just using your other dog ..........
  15. you have never come accross as liar or bullshitter mate but i find it really hard to believe that an 19 inch high dog weighing in at 18 pounds would pull down and nearly kill a fully grown roe deer in the few seconds it took you to get to it .... did you actually see the dog do this or are you assuming thats what happened ??? could the deer have damaged itslef going over or through the fence because it was panicked at being chased by the dog ??? either way you have some nice meat there ..........
  16. ditch i have used these in the past whilst doing variouse protection training jobs and although they are a good clip they are very easy to accidently release ... you have an 80lbs plus dog excitedly bouncing around and you go in to calm him down and before you know it he is off and running and you are left there wondering how the feck that happened ............
  17. you are obviously retarted and dont actually own a working lurcher ... a dog doesnt have to be pulling a sled to be carrying out endurance work ... a dog that is having between 30 and 50 runs a night on the lamp is certainly in the bracket for endurance work if you believe otherwise then give up dogs and keep cats .............
  18. firstly i didnt say dogs ONLY dervive their energy from fats ... but dogs need a fatty diet if they are being worked hard .... of course they can get energy from carbs and protein the same as any other animal .... but a hard worked dog needs a fatty diet FACT .... below is the proof you wanted ... i could go on googling forever to prove to you what i allready knew .... but i think the extracts below will prove my point sufficently ......... HAVE A READ ......... Endurance athletes are much more dependent upon the oxidative energy systems. These athletes would benefit from a higher pe
  19. hey stupid do a little research and then come back on here and apologise DOGS DERIVE THEIR ENERGY FROM FATS FACT .........
  20. your dogs will not get bloat from eating a 1/4 of their meal before going out or will they get it from eating a full meal when they get back as long as they have rested adequately ....... have a look at this site HERE
  21. if you normally feed your dog at night then decide to go lamping and not give your dog a meal your are expecting a dog with an empty stomach (empty fuel tank) to run all night and perform well ..... the dog wont have eaten in 24 hours and is then expected to have enough energy reserves to work hard for you !!!!!!!! ... it takes a dog 12 hourse to digest a full meal so feeding a 1/4 of the dogs normal meal 4 to 5 hourse before a lamping session is fine .... dogs get their energy from fats not pasta or eggs or any other amazing type of miracle diet .... FATS SIMPLE AS ... my dogs get fed a 1/4
  22. his kennels are ok they are enviromental health inspected regualary the bad storys you ear are off people who have never been and seen them if you honestly believe that the state of them fecking kennels in that rat infested shit hole are ok then you shouldnt be allowed to keep dogs ... i have seen p***y dogs in better nick than them poor little critters that are farmed in that dirty old b a s t a r d s hovel ... unsolalised undernourished whelps that were the result of the union between an uproven and unworked stud put over a failed track greyhound ...... it says all about the man when ..
  23. and i will say it once more for the little slow amongst us .. this is what the fella asked .... quote ... What do you carry in your first aid kit ...... and this what i replied ... quote ..... i carry a basic surgical kit and fluids as the most common injurys are going to be cuts dehydration or shock .... with this kit i am able to carry out the essential work needed to get the dog sorted untill you get them home to treat them properly ............ now not once did i promote the use of or explain how to use or suggest others use fluids or any of the other items of my kit .... i mere
