pup going to toilet in crate
lurcher lass replied to jamiew's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
i'd say to lose the towel in the crate as the dog is now used to toileting on this type of materiel, i would recommend changing the type of bedding, i used a paper/wool pet bedding for the pups in the crate as its soft and lovely for the dogs and easy to remove soiled bedding without using washing machine etc.. and get in to a routine of set times during day AND night to be taking the dog to the loo and plenty of praise when the pup goes outside, even if its only one in thirty and never tell the dog off for toileting indoors no matter how irratating this is as the dog just gets nervous... al -

give him a chance! why are people so quick to give up on an animal before its even had a chance to show what it can do, pups, young dogs ferrets etc we see it all the time, either take up some people offers and give him away or keep him and see what he can do i'm in suffolk, also offering pet/potential working home for the lil mite all the best lurcher lass

must say i've never washed any of mine, if its the smell your bothered about plant lavender and other nice smelling plants near the hutches and runs and wash your hands after handling them, another idea is to dedicate a an over coat to handling ferrets so that not every item of clothing you own smells of ferrets... these are ideas i have had the intention of doing some of the above but not bothered about it enough to get it done! they are meant to be smelly thats why their good at getting us free food!!

hiya everyone!! how was your day out? i travelled from suffolk by public transport, bus train and cab to get there! had limited cash on me so worked out that after the 18 pound for taxi fare back and the enterence fee (which wasn't too bad in comparison to some) i had a grand total of 8 pound spending miney i enjoyed the day, took some photos which i'll upload later on, i mainly watched the hounds and had a chat with lurcher people, including a very nice lady with deerhounds who lives near me who offered to meet up, had a sneak a peak at ferrets even though by rights i should be sick

aren't the human race fantastic! the world would be so much better off if we weren't in it i am so happy for you and your bitch, i had a dog go missing and its horrid! every dog out walking that looks similar i used to slip the name in conversation just to double check that theres no reaction, any dog on telly or paper that looked even slightly the same would bring a lump up those nasty fecking ******* but you got her back!! after all this time!! there is hope for the hundreds of dogs that get nicked every year! good for you mate and enjoy having her back where she belongs

stunning dog mate and the pics seem fine to me

i agree 100% mate, look at the state of the rest of the canine populaion, with of course many thanks to the kennel club!! the joys of the show world has over bred and encouraged inter breeding for years and now it seems that as famous people adopting retired greyhounds and lurchers as a whole being increasing in popularity means that in time this breed will suffer too, though personally i already think it has bull crosses and saluki crosses are currently the types to be in fashion at moment, we are already seeing bull crosses with poor feet when the bull terriers have sound paws, the quality
