  1. sweet looking ferret and enjoy him!! must confess i wouldn't be too keen allowing a ferret to clean me ears!! but i can't stand anyones tongue near me ears!! all the best and thanks for popping up the pics lurcher lass x x p.s love the tattoos on the woman holding said ferret
  2. continue with daily checking of ferrets condition - as this will never do any harm . . when i do my once a week scrub of hutches, i wash down with disinfectent and spray all cracks for mites, ticks and fleas, i also do spot on every three months during summer and more often while working, i'm not sure if this will help but feel free to pm me and i can dig out the name of the spray i haven't had a tick on any of my ferrets to date since using the spray and spot on, this is due to the products or pot luck but while tis working and not robbing me bank i'll continue i do hope i've helped lur
  3. OH LOOK!! their stunning!! i'd love more but already have three kits, i'm sure they'll sell quickly all the best Lurcher lass xxx
  4. what type of lurcher is he mate my bitch deerhound/greyhound/collie x whippet took about a year and a half to grow into herself and find her balance and feet etc but i have whippet/greyhound x beddy/greyhound pups one of which is ready now but i'm holding her off a bit but their 8 months old i'd say start introducing him now, the more he'l see the more he'l learn, start him this season see what he thinks, if the dog doesn't seem interested work on training then bring him back week after week, the instinct should be in his blood keep us posted mate lurcher lass x x
  5. tis your dog, your choice etc but if i was breeding from this dog i'd want more sighthound in, a friend of mine bred his deerhound/greyhound/collie bitch to a languna whippet and the pups took a little longer to mature due to the deerhound part but had the added speed of the whippet and slightly smaller insize if you want a similar size to what you have them use a greyound or greyhound cross . . anyway best of luck in what ever you decide to do all the best lurcher lass x x x
  6. can't wait i have two adults chomping at the bit, one adult hob whom i haven't worked before as he's a pet but i'm curious as to how he'd do, and three kits that i've been introducing them to their collors and bringing them out in the box to get them used to it and also my big walking boots and the dog trotting around!! will be my first season with permission - seriously i'm surprised meself! i'm really looking forward to it! enjoy it lads all the best lurcher lass x x x
  7. i have someone two doors up!! only his are cockers and labs, he has them kenneled in the garden, i have never seen him walk a dog, during season he'll take it in the car to a very nearby feild do a tad of practise retrieving dummy and gunshot and thats it, their fed on shite and all bitch's are bred from every year! he was only telling me today that one of his 5 week old pups died due to dehydration and he'd seperated all pups from the dam at three weeks old!! when he found out i kept ferrets he began giving me LOADS of "advice" which i'm happy to listen to as you can always learn more a
  8. have heard friends say very good things about their white dogs of the past - after all coat colour is just that! personally though i like a good solid colour be it horse or dog, there is not much reason behind this apart from a like to see a dog with a healthy shine to the coat and you cant see this on a whaite dog . . stupid reason i'm fully aware i just like perfer black!! nice pair of white dogs on here though, and i believe that white working dogs are a lot more popular then the old days a classic example would be just think how many white saluki type lurchers are around all th
  9. this is the second one i've watched and i think its great! he has a useless shot and i haven't seen a lamp like that!! but the lil terrier tis a grand lil dog and doing well i also think its good that we have a bbc series of pest control in englands capital! can't be bad . . all the very best lurcher x x x
  10. hmmm what a fantastic idea . . . . thanks for the giggle xx
  11. i have already started to teach my pups not to be nervous of the bike and how to walk next to it, you then gradually build it up until both you and the dog is confident, my adult bitch i will can now take on the road she'll stay to heel never pull etc will wait til the pups are older and at moment am just still with cycling accross country
  12. provide them with a space with as much room as you can afford with toys, tunnels etc i bring me kits out with me every now and again to wonder along new areas and get used to being next to the dogs and me walking boots, also helps to get them used to wearing the collor and maybe let them follow an experienced ferret doen the rabbit warren to begin with. . other then that let the animal learn at its own pace enjoy
  13. i give mine any food scraps i happen to have, but i wouldn't give it to my dogs as part of their day to day diet but each to their own
  14. i didn't know it was the law to chip terriers and i'm unsure how said law is with lurchers,,,,,, but all three of mine are micro chipped and planning to get them tatooed also, the tatoo is to try and prevent them being stolen, visual deterent etc and the micro chip is so if they get missing etc they can be returned, rather then some rescue putting her to sleep to save kennel space . . even if i was caught at the poaching game i'd rather eat porrige knowing me dog is safe at a friends place till i'm free to cause trouble again!! not long now lads!
  15. how old were the kits when you frount lined them? i frount lined the jill before she had the kits then again when the kits were four weeks old i frount lined only the jill again, on top of this i clean out the hutches once a week and spray the hutch for fleas and mites, make sure its fully aired then pop ferrets back in again i am so sorry to hear your litter have died, try maybe going to the vet to find out professinally what happened, if its a virus the others will have to be protected hope you find out what happened, and do keep us posted all the very best lurcher lass x x x
  16. and incredibly loyal, which is great in the working feild but can have is down sides - my bitch once broke out of a standard dog crate, out the window on the first floor, accross the guttering, slid down the conserverty roof in the time it took me to walk as far as the bus stop she was so pleased to see me i couldn't be mad at her this is when she was a lone dog, since having the pups its calmed her completly
  17. you'll want to get more then one as they need company
  18. hi everyone due to shortage of work - many thanks to the big credit crunch i fancy getting away from everything and go camping with me daughter and three dogs! i love the way how before going to sleep you arrange dogs at the bottom of tent and the HUMANS in sleeping bag and on mats all warm and cosy . . . by morning your pinned against the side of tent soaked through with rain water and the lurchers are star shaped spread on your bed!! saying this is very nice but for some mad reason i fancy doing it all again!! i'm looking for somewhere with good walks, easily abl
  19. 2010 we were early for once! we've already developed sperm in a test tube!! good luck boys x x x
  20. bitch is whippet x deerhound/greyhound/collie pups are whippet/greyhound x beddy/greyhound
  21. i'll be taking it slow with me bitch who has just recovered from injury but is doing well, and i'm bringing on me two pups also, i have a steady season ahead and with a hell of patience it should be a good one . . most looking forward to go ferreting and me foxhunting! but best of all wave good luck to these pet owners who only bring their hyper, overweight, under exercised, summer dogs out, will be great to walk ten minutes with out being stampeaded by these idiots!!
  22. funny if you would have asked me 7 months ago i would have said only stick to the one pup and never get two from the same litter! but i went and done just that  but its worked well for me the two keep each other company very well, are very sweet together, takes the puppy madness away from me bitch, when one pup is doing good behaviour thats grand as the other will copy BUT much more time training, joys of distraction etc more time taken to do one on one with two pups, however your pup would be older and from seperate litters, i'd say if this is what your used to and what you'd
