  4. when looking at another topic on here regarding vets not being too good and someone suggested to start up a topic regarding decent vets i have done, i do not mean to steal the glory this very good idea was not mine, just thought i'd get the ball rolling...so here it goes everyone do you have a vet you swear by? has exceptional knowledge on working dogs and ferrets and their injuries, this includes terriers, gundogs, lurchers hounds etc genuine advice, patience with said animal prices that are reasonable, not too expensive but also not so cheap that you wonder bout the quali
  5. hiya everyone i'm not really a telly sort of person, much rather be outside with ferrets or for a mooch with the dogs, however since i've left me husband a year ago now and are now a single mum, i have certain times in the day where i can't go for a wonder due to me daughter sleeping or being fed etc i don't wish to lose sight of the life i love so much and though i do bring her with me it would be nice to enjoy the huntsman tune all year round i have heard about a tv channel that provides veiwing on fox hunting, ferreting, lamping, etc all of which i'm interested in, does anybody is t

  8. i haven't read the other comments just your post purely as i'm about to go out with the dog, will have a good read tomorrow, i am sorry no badness is meant to anyone xxx in regards to ferret nipping it tis difficult at first but as you say once ye get used to the ferret nipping it doesn't hurt that much! i would suggest to alter the diet introduce some more raw meat and ferret biscuts, cat food of any discription has the incorrect levels of protein, and get into a routine of feeding at certain time/times of the day, leave the ferret be to eat her food as they are private animals but have a

  11. had a look you have to order £30 worth of food... how dose the tripe come in little blocks?? I only have a standard fridge freezer could i fit £30 worth in it??? you'd have room for dog food and maybe some frozern peas!! so sorry i forgot to mention that, the food is great quality though
  12. i feed my dogs good natural balanced diet, combination of a dried food with no carbs at all in 70% meat n fats 30% fruit and veg, with raw meat that varies depending on what i have venison, rabbit, tripe, chicken, pheasent etc, keep them well exercised by walking and cycling with them, also do training work with retrieves then come season their raring to go, they are looking good at preasent good shine to the coat and nicely toned on legs and back, once they've had a few runs when season begins they'll be looking grand interesting read on supplements and different types of muscles thank you

  16. my instinct would say mites, grass seed, etc as already mentioned recently have had not the best experience with my vet re my bitch, so i'd say to change vet for another opinion or find a good old fashoined vet who's priority is the dog not his pocket hope you can sort it all the best lurcher lass

  18. stunning lil pup mate, i'm sure you know what your doing, when i first got my bitch she was 10 weeks old and a good bit thinner then yours, the pups weren't kept in the condition i'd like but the blood was there and i liked the pups charactor, since then she is a different dog and a real pleasure to have around, though when i went for a pup again i was much more carefull as i did have to put the work into her best of luck mate and enjoy every moment

  20. i like to give my ferrets a varied diet, on day to day bases they get: minced chicken,lamb,tripe (whichever the dogs are having) along with top up of james wellbeloved ferret bics egg and milk mix and then any game remains i have to spare, e.g me ferret kits are polishing off a deer head i had in the freezer, but this could mean rabbits which i get, or game given by a local who shoots, so pheasent hare woodies etc once a week they get day old chick peanut butter tuna / mackeral in oil and cream the lil feckers eat better then i do FACT but they look lovely on it
  21. well said mate, it really winds me up the fact that people treat they dogs like a rusty old car i think how we would like our dogs to be and what they are, are different things obedience comes with training, loyalty comes with respect, and to gain respect requires a tender hand a good kind owner makes a good dog what ever the breed all the very best lurcher lass
