  1. Job satisfaction comes from enjoying what you do. For me it was solving problems, on a continual basis, as opposed to turning up with a bottle and a manual. Solving problems that a lot of so called techs couldn't fix because they didn't want anything that took longer than a whizz round with the lance. Or a kick of a bait station. Like a lot of us, on this forum especially, I started with a ferret and a few nets. I loved it! Got to be out in the fields with my dad, uncle, and my grandad. They showed me a lot and it gave me that fire to start. But had I not picked up a bottle, and a manu
  2. A1. Yes. A decent tech will be able to decide whether the time/money/solution is worthy of his time. If it can't be solved without rodenticide then the customer will be referred to the LA (free/subsidised) or a company with a wallet big enough to operate. Unfortunately with the regs being tightened it could see a lot of rodent work being dropped from the list of services. I'd assume the LA will pay up to get their lads qualified but after working for them I know in certain areas it won't make a scrap of difference to their operations. The ones I worked with were negligent at best, criminal
  3. Who's the driving force behind the push for more bureaucracy? Who's doing the lobbying?
  4. But a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds spokesman said: ‘The licence gives landowners the right to remove individual birds that are causing a problem, but we’ve always questioned the validity of those who appear to just go out and shoot birds for the pot, which is not allowed.’ We're not allowed to hunt for food... Oh what a fine nation we've become.
  5. He's not had any problems up to now but scope mounts on the action and the barrel removes. Constantly removing the barrel is burely going to effect the zero at some point? Walshie said it can come loose and the tightening of the nuts + time could lead to innaccuracy. I think it's a nice gun but it's more expensive than a standard 10/22, and doesn't do anything different.
  6. My mate has one. Everything you'd expect from a 10/22 but a little more expensive than my bog standard 10/22. Great gun!

    Simoman

Get well soon, Simon! Thoughts are with you and yours at this time!
  8. there was a report on this the figure would have to be reduced to thirty million Joking aside nothing other than a horrific event is going to see over a 50% reduction in the UK's population. Did this study take into account the arable land now, or back when we actually farmed? Who gets to choose which 1 in 2 make the ultimate sacrifice?
  9. Couldn't agree more! As a nation of around 70m people, could we realistically be self sufficient again? Or are we looking at Soylent Green?
  10. Matt. I'm replying with a because we're not allowed to Like moderator posts.
  11. The hippies want to mandate total organic produce. The problem is it requires much more arable land, than the world can sustain. Question for the hippies, is which portion of the world do we starve to death, to impliment that agenda?
  12. If the government push an agenda it's because it makes them money. Someone's either lobbied for it, or it'll increase their tax revenues. If you happen to live a little longer, then you'll pay more to them over your life in taxes. It really is win, win for them. I just can't stand the fact they they feel the need to legislate the requirements for us to live our lives. If I want to drink, smoke, f**k, and eat a kebab it's between consenting adults and it's no business of anyones. As always not enough people give enough of a shit to change it, so we end up being ruled.
  13. I was thinking more along the lines of speed, distance, and time. Also where you're choosing to shoot. The little .22LR can cause damage at a mile or so...
  14. I believe that China and Russia make more money with commerce than flexing their military muscle, at the moment. They're trapping more flies with honey than vinegar. Also the Chinese own most of the world's debt! They'll think long and hard before writing off that kind of money! But saying that, everyone has taken their eyes off Russia since the 90's... what have they been up to in that time? Rearming and resupplying? American public opinion on another war would be difficult to spin. They might have the stomach for it but the public won't. We can only hope it ends without too
  15. Personally I would say that the distance shot would create a more dangerous environment. Simply because you cannot predict how it's going to behave and the distance may contain something you don't want to land a round in. Know your target and what lies behind and beyond it.
  16. That makes me laugh and all. M&S source their organic gold turkeys from a farm down the road from me and boast they are from a 'small' farm. The farm has sheds in all the fields for miles and miles and turn over 100's of 1000's of birds every year, if not 1000000's.. I love the organic myth! It's 100% pure politics. People have been fed the notion that organic will save the animals, the people, and the planet. It's only when you see what conditions you have to fulfil to be organic that the myth collapses completely! Organic is like scientology... You pay a f**k tonne of money t
  17. I've baited several railway embankments in the north of England... Ample food from the takeways and bins nearby the problem I had wasn't neophobia, it was being able to keep the burrows baited long enough to make a dent in the population! The bait was going almost immediately. IMHO, I think neophobia is something we have to consider when baiting, but I don't think it's as much of an issue as it used to be. Evolution?

    Ukrain

Shocking footage. Anyone else notice this level of violence seems to be creeping further west? Anyone else still trust their government?
  19. Can't have Dean without Frank, and Sammy!
  20. Fair one, mate! I'd say go for it. It can do everything the other calibres can!
  21. Definitely Richard Burton! Errol 'The Baron' Flynn
  22. Probably because he thought Olly would puke up on him... Like he did to Steve McQueen! Classy!
  23. Depends on whether you want a new rifle! All of the calibres are top notch.
