  1. Different era but while we're talking about pound for pound, what about the great Paul Anderson?
  2. They won't quit. They'll be picking their battles. It means more snooping around kennels and more donation money for informers.

If he goes into one of the bigger stores they won't do that. Smaller ones may but unlikely. Everything is electronic.

Stuff you can't send would probably be through mail carrier. Stuff you can't carry on a plane would be the airline or HM Customs

Sportsman's Warehouse too. Look for local businesses as well. Some of them carry some pretty good discounts. Depending on which state you're visiting check the supermarkets and sporting goods stores. Wal-Mart and Big5 Sporting Goods. This end of the country you can pick AR15's in Wal-Mart. Also, depending on what you want to take with you, have you considered mailing it home? UPS and Fedex have there own shops all over the place. Box em and ship em. It'll probably be cheaper than your excess baggage fee.
  6. Putin is a soldier but he's also a politician. If nothing else he's trying to cement his legacy like the rest of them. The difference between their politics, and ours, is that they don't even attempt to hide their corruption because they know that no one can do anything about it, so they do so with impunity. Does anyone seriously think that that method of rule is benefical to a nation?
  7. Moocher... Can't be controlled or won't be controlled? They've been reduced to rubble, over the last few decades, and still they resist.
  8. One reason - Geography.. Same reason that Scotland was never fully subdued and the Welsh language and culture survived despite the best efforts of the English, Romans, Saxons, Vikings, Normans, etc over the years. Some places are more suitable for warfare and conquest than others, Afghanistan is extremely unsuitable for it.. Take a man. Strip him of his right to defend himself. Strip him of his money. His livelihood and well being. Drug him, his family, his neighbours... remove all of his hope. What's not now ripe for conquest? His own people have already done the donkey work!
  9. About the same as us then?
  10. As far as weak leaders go a serious conflict would solve that. The strong will emerge and maybe get a few citizens off their arses, and to the ballot, instead of watching Celebrity Dominoes.
  11. Are religion and spirituality the same thing though? I know the dictionary definiton intertwines the two but surely it must be possible to believe in higher forces without necessarily being confined to a particular religion? Religion, to me, is where man has decided to regiment spirituality. Where he has decided to outline the rules and regulations within. This, at least to me, is where the problem lies. I have no issue with what people believe. What they do, or who they pray to. Providing it's all between consenting adults. I don't believe for a moment that any just God, Allah, Buddh
  12. Probably not. I must admit I can't envision a situation where it would penetrate the higher spec plates. They moved from steel to ceramic because of weight, fragmentation, and richocet but like BH says you're applying a higher degree of tank armour! The soft stuff on the other hand is a liability in pointy situations. It hits 120ºF+ out here and a lot of the lads won't wear it because heat stroke is almost guaranteed. I'll see if I can dig out some of the photos from what we tested. It's pretty alarming when you first realise that blades go right through it with little fuss. But you can s
  13. Mil spec plates will stop certain bullets under optimal conditions. Never tried an arrow/knife on the ceramic plates though. I'd be interested to see as they tear up soft armour.
  14. Kevlar is issued to protect against pistol rounds. It's f***ing useless against rifle rounds without adding the ceramic/steel plates. Body armour is rated to threat level and costs accordingly. Steel plates will stop knives and arrows but not sure with ceramic.
  15. We tested level II armour, over here, with knives too. You might as well be wearing a T shirt. Some carriers can fit steel plates, which solve the problem, but if you should still bring a gun to a knife fight! Defense ammunition (hollowpoints) are designed to expand on impact. Designed to create a larger wound channel from a small projectile. Kevlar is designed to absorb that shock make the bullet expand prematurely. Like catching a golf ball in a net. Arrows and knives are designed to puncture and cut, hence the issue with being able to pass the ballistic armour.
  16. The Stiffmeister had a Lightning with a gas ram installed. Drop him a PM if he hasn't read this thread already.
  17. Not sure if they'll ship the baccy outside the US but have a look at J.M. Boswell His pipes are true works of art and his aromatic baccy is the best I've tried. Especially the Raspberry Cream and Paradise blends.
  18. I'm thinking more that you need to keep the existing seals lubricated or you'll have the same problem over again some time down the line.
  19. Maybe some Molykote grease on the seals? It'll be a damn sight cheaper than taking it in for a repair and next to no down time.
  20. Quick quote from the article... “Someone said to me ‘you can’t hold a crucifixion these days without a licence’.”
  21. Skoal Bandits? American chewing tobacco? It was banned in the EU because it can cause mouth cancer. Snus on the other hand has been used in Scandinavia since the 19th century. I've smoked cigars and a pipe but I could never stand cigarettes, even though I started smoking at school. I've used snus since I went over to Sweden in 92, to watch the football. Never smoked a cig since. Glad too because it was effecting my rugby. I go to the dentist every 6 months and he didn't believe me when I said I use it. It's a different entity to Yankee chew and he's shown me pictures of what that can do t
  22. Anyone tried Swedish snus?
  23. Hard to say as it'll all depend on usage. Gas rams will last longer than springs and be more consistant. If you're burning through springs in your rifles, then a gas ram will extend the time between refits. If you're not burning through springs then you're unlikely to wear out a gas ram.
  24. The only things that win, in elections, are bank account balances.
