  1. Plenty of seasoning? It usually comes from the lake where the trout was caught had a muddy bottom.
  2. Nice picture indeed. Talking of little and large. I have a Ko-Shamo pullet in my aviary at the moment who at night goes to the top perch at night. For warmth the canaries squeeze in beside her and it's funny to look at it.
  3. Ideally she should be a tried and tested worker before breeding from. Ideally you should have plenty of homes for the pups before their even conceived. If you haven't met these requirements ,don't breed. Cats and dogs homes are full of unwanted dogs.
  4. LOL well thats the pot calling the kettle black.
  5. As it's illegal to course hares in Britain and illegal to course hares with anything other than a greyhound in Eire I would think the original post was about greyhounds. Common sense really. Trim next week but roll on Newbridge Open, my favourite.
  6. Thats nothing. I can shoot like that even when the scope is spot on. I don't need a badly zeroed scope.
  7. If Percy feels these pictures make him more of a hero thats his buisness but the fact is pictures like that only do harm. And I'd like to be digging to a ripe old age, people like Percy don't give a shit wether they'll be digging in years to come. IMO putting up pictures like that is similar to cock measuring.
  8. It was agreed on the programme that the wild duck tasted better than the domestic ducks. If you want to see animals killed buy Warrener DVDs. Or get out there and do it. River Cottage and that new show "What to eat now" are enjoyable and good PR. JMHO.
  9. Very nice. If they were mine (and good ones of course) that would be in a frame.
  10. Nice job Percy. I don't mean the dig, I mean the anti fodder.
  11. Great to see that there's people out there who know the workings of a ferret, they deserve the same respect as any working animal. But how did the man who asked the original question know that it takes two days for his ferrets to empty their water bottle? Horse, door, after and bolts spring to mind.
  12. My mother cooks venison that way and I must say...........lovely. Myself ,I fry it on the pan or a lovely stew.
  13. There's a few clubs here in Ireland releasing Reeves pheasants. To be honest I refused to believe it was real when I seen a photo of one with a six foot long tail. But it was real indeed. I'm told there quiet sporting but I know one club that's stopped releasing them as they're quiet aggressive towards the Ringnecks.
  14. At last, a good reply. A few words that speaks volumes about the way it used to be. The locator has completly changed terrier work, and for the better too.
  15. And do you know why the squeal isn't used???? Because you can't catch it...................
  16. I've coarsed fished all my life and I know feel it's got a bit out of hand. Nowadays a trout thats never been caught before (better still if he's truely wild) on a well presented fly, fighting hard and played to the net and maybe a nice dinner is what it's all about. And maybe looking a half a mile each way up the bank and not seeing another angler. Mind you, I wish we had Barbel.
  17. At the moment JD I could just about afford 20 minutes of lessons of you LOL. I can't complain though, I've had my best ever season on the dry fly.
  18. Don't know if it's true but I heard that while Bear Grylls stays in a five star hotel Ray Mears roughs it in a B+B.
  19. LOL @ Maltenby. No no, it's alright when it's done for the sake of entertainment. One for the pot is different to widescale poaching. Anyway I'm sure Mr Bear had a permit.
  20. "Hunting them for the purpose of eating is illegal", FFS thats unreal, and I thought our laws regarding Pigeon shooting in the Irish Republic were stupid.
  21. Never had to do it yet (touch wood) and always thought it a bit of an ol' wives tale. But there you go, you live and learn.
  22. I use the one Murph describes. A good knot, mind you I still loose plenty of flies. Usually in trees, bushes, sheep etc.
  23. I'm not sure what excuse they give now but the original reason for making anti-biotics prescription only was because it was found beef containing penicillan when eaten by humans gave us a tolerence to penicillan. Hence when we became sick anti-biotics didn't work on our own bodies. It was common for farmers to boost a sickly beast with penicillan to get a better price for slaughter. This doesn't happen now but it's the cause of the restriction.
  24. I didn't see the porcupine one but biting a chunk out of a live salmon because he hadn't time to kill it had me in stitches. I wonder how many takes that took? Or the time he pissed on his t-shirt and put it on his head to keep him cool. Was the no water in the vehicles following him? LMAO. I had visions of loads of little Bear wannabees across the fields pissing on their t-shirts.
