So the shooting guys reckon the doggy boys come on the shooting board and ruin it for everyone? The point I'm making is that in the real world (not the inter-net) the lamping brigade are ruining it for everybody. How can I comment on this? I've done a lot of lamping and in the last month I've had six call outs to deal with problem foxes. But I go to where the fox is the problem and not drive around the road shinning a light over the ditches. I've no problem with sportingly shooting a fox but turning it into a numbers game IMO is going to ruin it for everyone, the lampers included. I can't

Absolutely spot on you two, cracking shooting and well done to the pair of you and from what I have seen/read on this forum you have done far too much first class stalking and pest control to bother what that tit of the first degree posts. Good shooting, keep at it because if I can't get out my self at least I can read about it. So you don't actually shoot BigPete. High powered rifles, various calls, high powered lamps with various lenses, sound moderators. And in the late Summer and Autumn too. Good skilled sportsmen. LOL.

COCK No. 2 pair of wankers P.S. well done lads, keep it up. And Cock No.3 Thats a lot of masturbation.

So are you saying BigDan that people should go to shows but not bring their terriers and go for a walk and leave the terriers at home??? How about saying that scum shouldn't steal in the first place. I heard the other day of an old woman answering a knock at the door. A knacker woman kept her talking while a young knacker went round the back and broke in stealing her handbag. But that is there tradition and right. They only have to hear your dogs barking and they'll sneak around. High security, have no scum around, don't sell pups or adults, exercise of the beaten track and dig with no on

Whats very unfortunate is that here in Ireland most terriermen are still happy to buy a terrier of anyone at all, no questions asked. I don't believe they're going to England, not most of them anyway. There is a certain family of knackers in Limerick buying stolen terriers and because they have a lot of punters the terriers are being moved on straight away. The well known dog stealing knacker in Co. Galway is stealing plenty up the country and he is then supplying the scumbag in Limerick. The Limerick knacker is not even a digging man but it must be worth his while to trade in terriers. Bal

IMO this post should be titled "50th Cub". Anyone who thinks thats sport or hunting is a fool. There's no skill or craft involved. JMHO.

Are you's guys telling me that Aldi and Lidl are now selling night vision gear????? Jesus, them crap stores seem to be supplying every foreign poacher around. Last year it was rubber dingys and snorkling equipment. As a result poaching fisheries has increased ten fold. These junk shops will be selling lurchers next.

LOL, the only thing an anti should be crossed with is a steamroller. Here we are talking among ourselves about the scum that are anti's. We all know they're bad news. How many of us use the same passion to talk to the politicians and press ? How many of us are members of the organisations that are fighting our corner? How many of us ring in to the various radio and television polls? Don't come on here and tell me the anti's are scum, I already know that.

I've seen bars of chocolate given during a days beating but I don't know enough to comment. Personally I use Lectade or Liquid life aid if a dog has had a grueller. It's a liquid used for calves with scour. It replaces lost salts and minerals in the body brought on by de-hydration. The trick is to get it into the first water your dog drinks after work stops, especially in warm weather. Doesn't give them a boost to keep them going but does help keep them right for the next days work.

I've noticed that myself this year. I put up a clutch of pheasants last week I'd say were 3 to 4 weeks old. In the same field I seen a clutch maybe 6 or 7 weeks old. All in a field of corn that should have been cut a month ago.

It's hard to believe all the old wives tales that are still thrown around ie. the piss and human hair thing and I'd rather have a badger problem than gathering human No.2. If you have badgers in your garden DO NOT let your dog out unless he has socks on with cinders in them. Oh yeh, and put sticks down your boots, LOL.
-
You mightn't be too happy if you've a nice lawn and the badgers start looking for worms in it. Although I'd be more concerned about the fox taking your chickens. Human pee, human hair and lol, human poo, all old wives tales. They might have worked at some time when every mans hand was against vermin but nowadays ,no. Badgers might be strong animals but if they're getting through a hole in the fence IMO your not doing a good enough job in mending it. And don't think the badger wouldn't have an eye on your chickens either. Mending a hole in the fence wont stop the fox, he'll just clear the

IMO to feed dogs before or during work makes no sence whatsoever. A dogs digestive system breaks down food much slower than ours. So to excpect a dog to work with food in it's stomach is silly. In a days hunting a pack of hounds might cover many many miles. Does the hunts man stop half way and give them a snack? How many of us give our dogs this much work? Also IMO a hunting dog wether it's a gundog, terrier, hound or lurcher hunts because of it's primative natural instinct to catch prey to feed itself. It's this same instinct we use to make our dogs work for us. Does it make sence to exc

Amputation would be a last resort and would probably take a bit of speed out of the dog, would this matter in it's type of hunting ? ie. lamping rabbits or foxes. But you could try cutting the nail of the toe in question. By cutting the nail short it will take some of the pressure off the toe as the dog walks. With wounded toes we used to muzzel the dog and cut the nail to the quick. This often drained a lot of fluid of the toe and eased the swelling. Keeping an eye out for infection of course. Might work and will do no harm.

I know accidents can happen but IMO a huntsman and whip should be able to get a pack back far enough to be safe, even with young hounds in the Autumn. Not only can it have a bad effect on a terriers work but in this day and age it can get a hunt in trouble. Look what happened a pack here in Eire last year when two or three couple got by the Whip. Their liscence was suspended for several weeks. All because an anti bitch from Mulligar was looking on. Swanseajack it sounds like you still have a very usefull terrier for stopping and your own days digging.

3 INC SHELLS IN SEMI AUTO SHOTGUNS
neil cooney replied to JOE BLOCKY's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Someone told me lately you can use five shells in your gun if your shooting vermin. I don't know if this is true or not. But I do know you are not allowed five shots when after game. There has been a few cases of wildlife wardens confiscating guns on the lakes off wildfowlers after proving the semi-autos were un-plugged. -
Correct Skycat, keep it simple. It's not like there's a problem with the bitch, so why start giving her remedies?
-
Nice bitch. Am I right in saying that looks like a nice tight rough coat on her? The type I like.

Whatever the age enter them like a youngster. Early success and keep them keen is what you want. For a novice to bolt his fox or for his owner to crown in on him and lift him is the reward they need. Never work them sore and if a youngster has bad luck make sure next time out he has a good time and experience. JMHO.
-
I used them this year for the first time on veterinary advice because they do lung worm too.

would someone kindly enlighten the yank?
neil cooney replied to Pops's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
I used to have that on a video i remember he got some pheasants as well (not with the otter board though!) It was a cracking programme. Do you remember him genuinely tickling the trout in the stream? And then breaking the large boulder cleanly in half with a small charge of dynamite. -
Cracking healthy pups.

It's never too late. How do you know it stay'd too far back? If the terriers marked then it wasn't too far back. if it's not marked how do you know it was working at all? Unless of course you then entered a worker and it found. If it was working a bit from it's quarry you'll find with confidence the terrier will work closer. Remember 1000s of terriers have been ruined by early entering but there's never been a terrier ruined yet by being held back.

"It only takes a minute of madness to ruin everything". Wise words.
