it was using its beak it had it cornered hen was about done for and it just kept at it until i stopped it OK, he was showing her who's boss. If he wanted to beat her he'd have been using his legs. She submitted, and it looked worse than it was. They should get on, after a while. They're the opposite to people, LOL.

Some will. They usually settle down after a while though. Have you the heels cut on him to stop him damaging them ?

Bob that reminds me of a 5 year old collie X greyhound I was gifted when I was young. You know something, she thought me more about lamping than anything or anybody else. If a rabbit was un-catchable she wouldn't run it. I seen her standing 15 foot looking at rabbits that were 6 foot from the hedge. But if there was one out from the hedge she'd usually catch it. It was very frustrating for a 15 year old lad at the time but I know now that she knew the game better than me. She was a good retriever but hard mouthed. Then one night in the dark with my battery dead she tangled with a badger.

I thought a Martingale was a bit of horse tack ?

It's a pity that a thread made it's way here on to the Hunting Life where the info was taken from an anti web site. Sort of does them a favour.

Pet hates ??? That's a hard one, Barbed wire, Electric fencing, Sand, Hard ground, Midges, Anti's, Terriers who come out to see how the diggings going, Terriers who let you know they've found the quarry, six feet away, Electric fencing, Lads who answer their phone as they're about break through, Lads who don't understand the words "this is my permission,", Cows and calves, Gamekeepers who ring you when they've snared 100 but still can't get the last one or two (ring me before ye start snaring ye bollox), Border owners who tell you they've got workers, Anti's, Dopes who f

Jigsaw, I know you're not a bullshitter but your friend is. He's made 4200 euro from netting hares and the season only 2 weeks old. By the end of the year he'll be driving a '16 Subaru. He's netting them in ones and twos ? So the land he's netting them on has dozens. You think he'd let you run one or two with all the hares he knows about. Is it one club or several clubs (take into consideration that the clubs meetings take place over months and are in different counties) that forked out 4200 euro ? If it's one club then they are already out of pocket and that with only just over half the

lol Neil your not one of those terrier men when the dogs on dig like fook men r yea No, far from it actually. I believe a lot of lads dig too early and the game hasn't settled, moves again and makes the terrier look bad. Some of the places I do I'd give a terrier nearly an hour before starting. Then, when I think there's a chance of scoring I dig like fook, LOL. No stress or worries this morning though, none whatsoever. Tried a few ol' reliable's, all empty. Blanked. Ireland better beat Italy to make my day better. An Italian jockey's after winning the Arc (on an English horse) so

I make absolutely no apology for saying this but if a dog bred for purpose does not fulfill that purpose IMO it should be PTS humanely. I would think 99% of dog men nowadays are not near as game as they'd like their dogs to be and would rather do the cowardly act of throwing the dog on the scrapheap, merry-go-round of unwanted dogs, and make a few ££££s whilst doing so. The unfortunate dog probably sees 4 or 5 homes by it's 3rd birthday before ending up in the most convenient excuse of the lot, the dog shelter. It's the cowards way. Like I say I make no apologies if there's any anti's e

Nothing to do with making mistakes or terriers coming away. I just take it very seriously. IMO if somethings worth doing then it's worth doing properly and once the terriers gone I try not to think about anything else. Last weekend I dug with some other lads and was able to relax as they were having the craic and slagging. But I do most of my digging on my own and maybe it's just as well as I take it far to seriously at times. As for a dog coming away ? That's something I don't worry about 'till it actually happens.

It's well for you Zilverhaze. I take most of life with a big pinch of salt but when there's a terrier to ground the stress level hit's the roof. It'll be the death of me.

Lovely to hear a happy ending, for a change.

Well said Giro.

just f****n leave the lad alone ye tit, so what he can't spell or write properly, go and pick on someone else ye f****n bellend,Pablo has done more with dogs than most, if all you can do is slate him for his writing then go f**k yeself ye gobshite. I'm sure he's a nice lad, a good mate and walks the walk, but, I have seen him writing word perfect posts. So he can read and write. Doesn't bother me though, I just read the first sentence and if he's going off the rails I just skip his post. He sure does turn 4 page threads into 15 pagers though, LOL. -
I've never heard of a white red deer and would like to see the proof, although I'm not doubting you. I see wild red deer regularly and there doesn't even be variations such as the fallow has.
-
Keepers do you use them as markers (hence the reason a good poacher doesn't take a white one) but personally I don't like them. They're usually the first to be taken by the fox or buzzard and lads driving along looking over the hedges will easily see them. Here it's usually a 50 euro fine for shooting one on a shoot day and if I was that keeper who's fine is £200 for shooting one then I'd be releasing hundreds. We've pheasants coming this morning and if there's any whites in it I'll probably tell yer man to keep them.

Cherish him, LOL.

No pup ,no matter how good a prospect, will get on with the job like a reliable worker. So when you have whips keeping back a pack of hounds and maybe a field of horses standing then trying to further a pups education is a big NO. You've a job to do. You could try it alright but if it turned into a delayed affair you might be asked not to bring a terrier again. You'd also be making yourself look amateurish too. As was said already, why take the chance ?
-
I'll have some of what he's drinking.
-
I agree Shovel, bring a pup out to get them used to hounds, the vehicle and the general hustle and bustle, Yes, but to bring them out for a dig in the same scenario, No. It doesn't help a pups confidence or a huntsman blood pressure, LOL.

Who's anti hard dog ?

Sums it up Foxdropper.

LOL, a big bowl of Feck Offs.

Mind your own business. How's that for an answer ? What is it with nowadays everyone has to know every ones business, what their dogs are like and what they're not like ? It was a good day starting with a good breakfast, good sport with good company. That's all you need to know.
