  1. It's not fair on the dog IMO. They'll eventually become a liability and it's not the dogs fault. Also IMO shame on whoever is offering it up as a pet, they haven't got the pup or the breeds welfare at heart. But funny enough however, when you do work them and keep them for the reason nature intended they're loyal and lovely to have around. I couldn't imagine life without them.
  2. Not a post to read while having dinner Foxdropper, LOL. But I bet the pork from that farm tasted lovely. Slops makes for lovely pork and when I was a butcher we used to spot a pig coming in that was reared on slops and we'd pool in together and buy that pig of the boss, sharing it between us. Also, when you mentioned the foxes in the sheds hunting rats it reminded me of when we'd be on the dump hunting rats there was a bog behind the dump and if you shone your lamp onto it you'd see several sets of foxes eyes as they'd be waiting for us to finish. It was also the place I've seen the most Ba
  3. I imagine that's what it's called. Whatever you do with the leftovers. Yum yum. Heston "Walshie" Blumenthol.
  4. Love Turkey myself but in a stew Walshie ?????????
  5. Yes, ratting at night can turn the most serious level headed lads into shrieking children. We used to do a dump with a pit in it for fallen stock. One of us would get down into and start jumping on the carcasses and the sides of the pit would start to crawl with rats. For every rat caught dozens escaped. I remember a rat jumping into a paint pot and a terrier (Duke and he was one who could finish a fox in minutes) put his head into the pot and came out wearing the rat between his eyes. Another terrier seen it and grabbed the rat and tore a perfect strip of skin of Duke from between his eyes
  6. LOL, another boring thread brought to life by Cushty. Fair play to you Bell.
  7. Ha f***ing Ha Bell, but we don't have the Little Owl. I thought someone would make a smart arsed remark and ask me what does Sparrowhawk taste like but I always know what I'm pointing my gun at, even though now and again (very rarely though) I have been known to miss, LOL.
  8. Quail do get fought and even the male Chinese Painted Quail you can buy in a pet shop have to be kept apart. I think I read somewhere that there's been a prosecution in the UK when some Pakistani gentlemen were caught fighting quail. I'd rather eat them myself, they're delicious.
  9. I hope Man of Kent had a tyke with him to see was anyone at home. The ghost of your mate might have enjoyed a bolt, .
  10. I've just finished a Woodcock for my dinner that I shot Sunday morning. Delicious and it's great to do such a beautiful bird justice. He came out of a tree about 20 feet above my head as I was standing waiting for my shooting partner to get through a ditch. To be honest I thought it was a hawk at first and it was gone about 70 yards before I copped that it was a Woodcock and dropped it. Has anyone ever seen a Woodcock in a tree before ?
  11. . David Attenborough he's not.
  12. When my brother was in Thailand he went to the cock fights and there was no problems. He took out his camera to photograph a few birds and was told to put it away as the birds belonged to the local Mayor and he didn't want his birds photographed. Were the Betta's the very same as the ones in petshops over here ?
  13. If I seen a farmer point his gun at my dogs or me I would sort it out there and then. I've held the barrels of a gun a farmer was using before so I know I'd do it. That what someone with balls does. Sneaking back at night to torch a hayshed or kill his sheep is what a coward does. Is it any wonder there's so many anti hunting farmers nowadays ?
  14. I have no argument with you Neil, its not primary school...I just asked you a question... how do you make pups... or experienced terriers run an empty earth.... genuine question? Stopend, in any type of training a dog for hunting you never MAKE a pup do something. Whether that's a gundog retrieving, a lurcher chasing or a terrier travelling an earth. They have to WANT to do it and good well bred terriers will want to find game. IMO the only type of working dogs that are MADE to do something are performing dogs in a circus. Are you a clown Stopend ? Genuine question. Why would y
  15. Yep, it was bound to happen. It's like when they bring out a new i-phone or x box. It the same as the old but because it's the new one everyone will want one. And Yes, it will happen to the Patterdale too. It has the lovely romantic story behind it with all the legends etc. and there'll be a hell of a lot of money to be made at first. Who cares ???? There'll always be workers of terriers and there'll always be the dreamers.
  16. I do watch some of those show and lets face they have to be taken with a pinch of salt. It's TV. Lawless Island doesn't seem to go over board and just goes with the flow and that tree felling last night learned me a thing or two, even if it didn't go exactly to plan.
  17. Sorry Foxbolter, but I disagree with your posts. The farmer in question doesn't represent most farmers but if you go about doing those things you say you could turn a whole community against hunting. That's what's wrong nowadays. Years ago when we got caught where we shouldn't be we apologised. Sometimes the farmer turned around and said apology accepted, next time let me know. Other times the farmer would get your number and maybe ring you in the future and ask you to get rid of vermin. Nowadays when a farmer goes out to lads he doesn't know he gets told to f**k off or his haysheds will b
  18. Right, then he's probably anti or at least anti hunt on his land. Some farmers will tolerate some packs and not others. Still, if he is reckless with his gun then the police are obliged to investigate and not just take his word for it.

  20. Zilverhaze, don't fool yourself, you're more intelligent than that.Police and computer experts can get into a terrorist's or a pedophiles computer in seconds. How long would it take them to get into an ordinary Joe Soaps ? So how do nearly all the photos in todays media come from FB if it's a closed shop ? Because those who don't give a shit about hunting are the ones that leave it wide open for everyone to see. That's the whole point of this subject. And of course this site is crawling with anti's. It's one of the biggest hunting sites there is and the anti's and the authorities wouldn't be
  21. More of a Carol Kirkwood man myself.
  22. He has the law on his side and in future steps will have to be taken to try and stop hounds crossing him again. I'd also see him the day before to let him know you're nearby and that you'll try to stay away from him. If he does try to shoot hounds however while someone is nearby trying to stop them then the hunt should have the law on their side in that case. He can only shoot dogs to protect livestock. Who collects his fallen stock ?
  23. Ye can call me every name under the sun lads but if I was there I'd never want to see hounds riot so much, LOL. JMHO but that Master who invited that hypocrite should be ashamed of themselves. Bryan May is not only anti fieldsports he is also anti farming. What would the Master have told May if a horse broke down or hounds did riot ? With friends like that , who needs enemies and IMO proper hunting folk should distance themselves from drag hunts and simulated coursing. There's no pest control argument and IMO drag hunting is for those who haven't the balls to really hunt anyway.
