  1. I had a small smooth bitch years ago who was terribly undershot with one of her lower canines nearly sticking into her nose. She was very hard and I can honestly say that when she died at 5 years of age that bloody tooth was still there, it was probably the only one she had left.
  2. Collins fought both men at the end of their careers. Wilst benn and eubank also had others on their minds like watson and Mclellen. But the Collins fight were still good slugging matches IMO, far from bad and showed all three to be good fighters. One thing I always admired about Eubanks was that he became a much more scientific boxer after poor Micheal Watson and lets face it that would scare most folk. After Watson IMO Eubanks could dictate a fight the way he wanted without being brutal and usually won on points. Did Eubanks win by any KOs after the Watson fight.?
  3. I've read a few of Lyn's books now at this stage and he does his research on the historical side of things but I know he's well gotten within the hunting community and it shows or he wouldn't get the up close and personal info he gets otherwise. In other words, he walks the walk.
  4. In my experience he who says he knows nothing is usually the guilty one.
  5. Absolutely Skycat, that could be argued and if he was my dog I'd be chuffed but he had 3 minutes to have a go and didn't. Opportunity favoured the dog and not the hare, but IMO the dog got lucky. Good dogs should make their own luck.
  6. I always like the story of the lad showing the American tourists his Weather Predicting Brick. The Yanks ask him how does it work ? He tells them "If I throw it in the air and it comes back down I know it's going to rain, "
  7. Again I'm no scientist but I would chance breeding of an old dog because his contribution is small, crucial, but small (I'm aware he's 50% of the genes) and to carry on a line you might want to put him over his grand daughter or even great grand daughter. As long as he's in good health that is. However because a bitch carries the pups for nine weeks while feeding them from her own body and then while rearing them can take a lot out of some bitches I would only breed out of middle aged bitches that are in great health. JMO.
  8. JMHO but the hare didn't deserve to be killed in the ditch.
  9. Ah but Marshman, I rarely if ever do as I'm told. But I do listen to advice. Trouble is, I forget most of it, LOL.
  10. in that link where it says st Patricks day in n,ireland??? We don't really celebrate st Patricks day here, how ever the city centre looks like a Celtic football club promo day as the town is flooded with Celtic supporters lol, now I duno what part st Patrick played in the Celtic football team lolol in scotland Always made me laugh those Celtic supporters. Singing Irish Rebel songs supporting a multi-cultural Scottish team playing a British sport. Oh, and St Patrick himself was born in France, but we wont hold that against him.
  11. Feeding the birds this morning a bloody wasp was flying around my face !!!!!!!!! That's not natural and that's twice recently. Wilf, we have a saying in Ireland regarding rain. When you can see the mountains it's going to rain. When you can't see the mountains it's because it's raining.
  12. If I remember correctly I think I've only repeated a mating once and the first litter was good but the second litter produced lunatics with at least one of them paying the full price for his over exuberance but unless I'm really stuck for blood I wont do it again. Enough old timers told me not too. "Only a fool learns from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others." Otto Von Bismarck.
  13. It's not the same if you didn't supply the specimen yourself.
  14. Sorry to hear that FD, life doesn't kick you in the ass once at a time but several times. Think of the terriers and chin up.
  15. http://www.donedeal.ie/dogs-for-sale/lurchers-stolen/10999343?offset=3 Don't know the lad but seen this.
  16. He looks in better shape than RH. IMO he was robbed both times against CE and his career should have been much bigger. Anyone remember his fight against Gerald McClelland, the Pit Bull fancier ??
  17. The good thing about a deaf dog is that you can call them absolutely anything you like.
  18. Hope you're holding on to the Trail hounds PK, I enjoy the odd post you show us of them.
  19. That can only be good Margaret, isn't Stephen into his lurchers, ferrets and beagling ?
  20. Very good, but have to say I hate to see a dog being worked with all it's feet off the ground. Can be dangerous on the dog.
  21. correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure you said the other week you don't even put a shovel in the ground untill after a hour of the dog working...that must be a very boring hour for you on your own if so.. I think what I said was that I'd give a terrier anything up to an hour before starting to dig. In a big place, yes, in a small place why would I do that ? I don't start digging 'till I think it's time and I don't take on too many very big places on my own. It's not the most enjoyable thing in the world.
  22. It's well for some, I'm laid up with an injured foot. At the minute a quick bolt would make me happy. Well done that terrier. My daughters just told me that if I'm still injured tomorrow she's bringing me to the kennels to be put down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
