Pity, I thought he might be an Irish Whitehackle.

Had a vixen in a snare this morning that was heavily pregnant, I've no guilty conscience either, she was around my chickens.

I've done a lot of digging on my own and it's all about preparation and routine, like having the chain already anchored and all tools to hand and maybe the gun propped up against the hedge. But no matter how well you think you know a place you'll eventually get caught out. The handy place you've always dug with your mates will run to 8 or 9 foot the day you try it on your own. And a deep dig on your own is not nice. I had a terrier at 15 foot 2 years ago and was down 8 foot with 7 to go when things went quiet. I got out and seen the game bolting down the side of the quarry I was in. I was n

LOL, I wouldn't be putting my ear to the ground in that place.

That'll do. You also owe an apology to Fatmans digging partner. Believe me if he met you it wouldn't be a pint he'd give you.

Thanks Black Buck, haven't done it all yet, doubt I ever will. Mind you, done plenty and spent yesterday in the company of two lads a bit younger than me, so I'll call them young lads, but believe me it's a long time since I seen such good terriermen. They didn't make a move without thinking first. They were with the terrier and ahead of the game the whole time. Good lads. Terrier work is far from f****d because of the likes of the terriers and terriermen I seen yesterday. Put me in a such a good mood I drank a few EXTRA glasses of cider last night for them.

Another Fatally Sentanced

Nice Gwalchmai, I just hope that vixen took the mange with her. Not a nice thing to bring home. I did once, gave it to the whole family. -
A treadmill when used correctly is a great piece of equipment, when used incorrectly can be the worst. Some lads get them to save them walking their dogs but the truth is you have to walk a dog before putting it on a mill and walk it after it's been on the mill. A mill is for wind, nothing else and one thing a lurcher needs is wind so obviously if used correctly they'd help a dog but there's other ways too and IMO a lurcher doesn't want to be looking at a shed wall while running hard.

Is there a family name to him ? Not a persons name but a strain name ?

Treehands, did Paccy ever tell you the story of the roadkill fox ??? I can't remember it correctly but Paccy used to tell it brilliantly. Roughly what happened was that Paccy came upon a dead fox on the road and pulled up, but another fellow pulled up at the same time. Paccy wanted either the whole body or the brush and the other fellow wanted either the whole body or the brush. I cant remember which. The two of them ran for the fox and got it at the same time. A tug-o-war ensued and the tail came off. Which ever of them had the brush wouldn't give it to the lad who wanted it. A funny s

Don't you mean a squab ???? Sorry, couldn't resist, good pic though and proves they ain't just scavengers. -
One thing's for sure about Eddie Chapman. His first book was one of the best, most practical books ever written on the subject. Terrierwork can't be learned from a book but if a young lad was to ask for a good book to learn from that's the book I'd suggest.

Shows can turn usually decent people into liars, LOL. I judged a game fair in the North one time and put a border terrier first which was handled by a girl, but I knew there was a good chance it had seen some work. As we were waiting for the lurchers to finish to pick the champion the boyfriend of the borders owner came over to me and asked me did I know anything about the woman who owned the champion lurcher ? I said NO. He then went on to tell me that the lurchers owner was anti and had reported lads for digging in the past. I ,of course, believed him, LOL. When picking the champion I

Please do, be my guest. And in the thread you should admit that in a PM you've admitted to telling lies. Now I wasn't on line all weekend, I was digging, but everyone's calling you a wanker now. By being on this forum and using my real name I leave myself wide open for assholes like yourself to criticize . That's fine, I can handle tossers like you but you said that a man (a good honest man who's not on this site to defend himself) said something he didn't. That makes you a liar. It's assholes like you what's wrong with the terrier game. Your type are it's cancer. Now since you have admit

Did Or Does Anyone Make A Living Out Of Work There Lurchers
neil cooney replied to bob84's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Because of the Gulf Stream I would say Ireland's climate is milder than the UKs, on average and all Gun Clubs in Eire last year were informed of the fur market. A mild climate isn't what you want. Pelts only get thicker when the weather gets colder and that's why Canada and Alaska produce well. I know, what I'm saying is that if the Scandinavian dealer said Irish fur is good quality then I'll presume British fur is too. -

Listen to the lyrics on this one. I grew up listening to country music. I never had a chance, by the time I was 10 I knew how to steal a mans wife, shoot him, and then ride off on his horse. And we give out to our kids for listening to Gangsta Rap, LOL.

Where is buying at those prices Neil? PM if you like. (Plenty of foxes and mink round here!) Fur prices are absolutely crap at the moment and you will be lucky to get a tenner for a in prime fox pelt and mink i have a freezer full of and they are not worth skinning. Then why have you them in your freezer ? 30 euro for a fox and 20 for a mink is what they offered for premium pelts. So what's that in sterling ? -

I'm not sure if they want wet or dry but it's no secret that a Scandinavian company last year came to Ireland and said our fur's quality are some of the best. They approached the Gun Clubs and said they'd even giving skinning demonstrations if need be.
