  1. A man I respected once said to me, you can tell everything you need to know about a man by the way he keeps his dogs....
  2. House rabbit?? Hmmm that could go wrong if you intend working the pup!!??
  3. She around 8 months now. Really been putting on some muscle last month or so.
  4. Out with pup for an hour. Not much about but nice to be out. Happy with how the pup is coming on. Been a bit stubborn recently with her recall and retrieving, I'm putting it down to teenage years and trying her luck. Back to basics for a while...thanks for looking.
  5. Great thread. To me it all comes down to being sensible and perspective. As with kids, being out and learning about the world can only be good. Yes I understand by being out the pup is likely to pick up the odd knock, and possibly this may having an effect in later life. Personally I would rather a pup be out learning their trade in the field from a younger age, than sat in a kennel getting frustrated and not building up too much energy. As with everything though imo there should be a limit, and working a young dog into the ground will only end in disaster! I've always played sport from a youn
  6. Don't see what these would bring that would be as good as a working collie
  7. Lovely staff. Be interesting to see how these turn out.
  8. Great way to spend a few days.
  9. Everyone makes big f**k ups when young and keen. Imo the way the other dog was treated was unforgiveable... Let's hope you learn from mistakes and this one gets a good home. Nice pup. Put the time into the dog and stay patient and I'm sure it will turn out ok.
  10. As many others have said, I don't know the man, never met him. But his posts and pictures on here are one of the highlights of the forum. Seems a genuine old school type bloke and I wish him a speedy recovery from whatever it is he is going through.
  11. They can be annoying b*****ds with a mind of their own sometimes, but I'd never be without a lurcher by my my feet
  12. Got to love the old timers ways of thinking! Great gesture from him, and a good compliment to you putting that trust in you? no better way to learn than by doing.
  13. Superb to see. That child will have learned ore in that hour than a month worth spent on a computer or play station.
  14. Rossm like the black dog... What's his breeding?
  15. I normally avoid petty arguments on here like the plague... But ffs this dog is 10 month old and be sold on for the second time because it's 'not my type of dog'??? That is truly embarrassing and everything that is wrong with this 'sport' imo. How the fcuk after two weeks someone can say that is beyond me, and about a pup is just a new low as far as I'm concerned. Sad to say but that poor mutt would be better off being pts or seized. There really are some morons keeping lurchers but you my friend take first place....probably for the first time in your miserable life. Just gift the poor
  16. Thanks for comments. Out again this morning and she caught her first rat, again near the river. She disapeered into the bushes for a minute, when she came back out there was a tail hanging from her mouth...he retrieve went out the window and she stayed about 10 feet from me carrying a bloody rat around.
  17. What's the breeding of the pup? Looks like he's gonna be a right big lump of a dog.
  18. Stunning blackdog, where is that? Great topic by the way.
  19. Not scenery as such but there is something about a walk through the woods that is just creepy when the mist is down
  20. Took my 6 month old bull x whippet pup out for a couple of hours on her own this morning. Decided to walk along a riverbank not far from where I live. It's very heavy cover with a small path running along the bank through the middle . There normally plenty of squirrels and a few rabbits but as the cover is so tight there was never gonna be chance the pup getting an unwanted course. The pup settled down after about 20 mins of going mad, she settled down and starting working the cover a little, getting her nose down and darting in and out of the bushes. Just after I turned to go back home, the
