  1. my fella loves to hunt ,has a decent nose and wrecks cover, then at home he lets the girls dress him up
  2. personally if i was you i'ld get myself a wee cocker, your lurchers will catch more and after a while you'll wonder how you ever managed without one. it was certainly one of the best choices i ever made. my fella "the spaniard"
  3. however misguided, their entitled to say whatever they want ,personally i've no time for censorship.
  4. i pretty much just feed the same stuff, i just skip more days.
  5. has to be the ferreting dog for me, that game is full of contradictions, very easy to confuse the f##k out of a dog.
  6. hope you's enjoyed yourselves lads, no better spot for it than the crosskeys, had some great nights there, good stout, good music.
  7. nice one ,good to hear mate. i would say its a serious fault if trained to gun, i don't know much about side of things, my fella's been out ferreting from a pup and he's wants to get his mouth on rabbits, he excels at marking and pushing stuff out of hedgerows, which is all i want, opening up doesn't bother me.
  8. Gnipper does she open up at all mate ? spaniel crosses sound very appealing as daytime dogs but i suspect many could end up screamers, maybe thats why you don't see more. my own cocker is a noisey b*****d once a run is on. in saying that, i wouldn't be without him and think every daytime lurcher man should have one.
  9. wasn't really looking for another beddy type but fate had other ideas, picked this wee bitch up last week,

  11. my mate Orla Mellons paintings, a bit quirky for some i suppose but i like them, she kindly gifted me the hare one.
  12. well, all to quickly its over again, with tomorrow probably being our last outing, been a decent one for us, with three young dogs having their first season proper, well pleased with how the lurchers preformed, both getting their fair share and the wee cocker's been a 100%, we have doubted him a few times but he's always proved us wrong, his tails like a locator, the faster its going the closer the bunnys are. we've also virtually stopped using purse nets, in favour of half a dozen 18ft stop nets, they cut out that running the hedge lark out and provide sport for the runners should they take t
  13. lovely dog that sirius, my beddy returns them live to hand unmangled.
  14. like CJ i've a soft spot for the Bedlington lurcher myself, they suit me anyway, nose, early pace and the enough heart to hit hedges hard, all essential in a decent ferreting dog. though many others will also suit the bill. lurcherlad , i'm in Belfast myself, shame i hadn't seen this a few weeks ago as a bitch i bred was up for rehoming, litter sister to my own dog, whippet x bedlington/greyhound, i'll keep my ear to the ground for you. my fella
  15. yep they always read to deep, the sound has went on mine as well, can barely hear it now
  16. if heavy prolonged rain is forecast we give it a miss, we ferret for the craic and are flexable with are days, heavy rain is just miserable for man and dogs.
  17. we just missed the heavy stuff yesterday in Tyrone, it hit us as we were packing up after a kill in undiggable ground, ferret showed just in time.
  18. had a crack at this last night but made a pigs arse of deboning, not as easy as it looks it the vid, so made the best of a bad job, mixed the pork stuffing and rabbit pieces, lined a loaf tin with the smoked bacon, cover top with bacon also and turned it into a nice meatloaf, lovely cold with a nice relish, not a patch on the recipe but tasty all the same.
  19. go ahead Willie, breed your own mate, i'ld give one a good home
  20. half bred bitch and two of her sons out of a MB whippet
  21. used to use Friars Balsom to harden bulls pads for road work, messy but done the trick. greyhound store also do stuff called tuf foot
  22. half a dozen 18 ft stop nets and a few purse nets in the pocket, easy as
  23. personally i like the 10z, its a lot easier to work with, don't use anything else these days, even in my purse nets. don't know if this is any good to you but i've a couple of 12 yarders in 6z laying here doing nothing ,if they would be any use to you to your welcome to them , they just need poles attached.
