Anyone had this happen?????????
activeviii replied to Daveo's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
judging by the little bit still in tack at the end i would say it was a mud plug as well. -
Fit For Purpose. if it dont work as it should then there is something wrong that needs putting right. I had a problem with my Urika2. same as above where the second cart got stuck or a double load. i spoke to GMK at the CLA show as i knew what the problem was and had the trigger assembly in bits. spoke to a gent on the GMK stand and he went and got me a new part and i fitted it when i got home. saves the hassle of RFD's and that. and way since then i have had no problems. it was the plate that flips the cart that was very slightly bent. GMK are good to deal with so you should b

night eye U caller lamp and red filter new...
activeviii replied to old real tree's topic in Optics and Night Vision
build quality is not as good as the lightforce but still a good lamp. £50 is a bit rich but if you get it then good on you. Im waiting for the scope mounted 170 size. i use the 240 blitz when two of us but need one for scope. -
lean pegs at 45 towards the field, rabbit gets in deeper and pegs hold better. you might struggle to get more in net as its the bagging amount. my nets are 2:1 2 mtr net for ever meter on line. you could always set nets out in field a little more and then back them up behind with a second net across the hot spots. I would offer you a hand if i was closer to you. Phil.

brian brinded nets i get mine from. there not the ones for putting you lines around the outside but more like a lambs tail ring that isnt bio-degradable. i roll a grommet on then put a small piece of fish tank tubing over the bottom of pole and then tie a hitch over it with the bottom line. i pull the grommet up with a twist and then back over end of pole and tube. this locks the bottom line to the tube that sits on the pole. with a couple of turns of electrical tape just off the bottom of the pole the tube will not slip off. some of the grounds i work on a night are soft, others are

snipes are a very good cartridge. it maybe that the smi are close to the speed of your old carts and the snipes are a wee bit slower. because of this you are hitting the bum of the bird and shedding feather or clipping the wind when it is downwards stroke. because their slower cartridge try aiming for the eye of the bird and this will bring you shot up and forward resulting in a dead bird. are the smi's the ones with the gas check value in them? give the carts another go but take into account what the speed is and shot weight, slower, heavier carts need a little more lead. where abouts are you based. have you a good greyhound stable near you. reason im asking is i took my cocker to an osteomyologist at a greyhound stable in the forest of dean. he was having problems with toes dragging and i was a little worried about it. popped in to see the guy and with in 15 minutes he had found the cause and few other little things as well but nothing for me to worry about. vet said it was his hips and wanted to do scans and x-rays. i waited and saw this guy who found the cocker had an old tear in a tendon in the knee and showed me what to do to stretch the leg and mas

Spaniel Training - Air rifle
activeviii replied to brambrack-spaniels's topic in Gundogs & Retrievers
i know of a few dogs that are sh1t scares of the sound of an air rifle, mine included. shotgun, punt gun, fireworks all fine but air rifle and you can forget it. starting pistol or dummy launcher is a good start or if you have a clay ground near you then have a chat with the owner and ask if you can walk the dog down the drive when there shooting. slow steady steps, don't rush the spaniel. Phil. -
not nit picking but box and run come to 10 foot. someone stole your other 2 foot.

whats the measurements kidda Phil. sorry i forgot to add that i have a double lintran box at the moment and was going to make an underbox for it but yours has it already so could be happy days.

long lead and short retrieves. bailing twine will even do for a lead. throw dummy a few feet and then send dog. once picked up give the recall. if he returns then great if not you need to guild him in with the lead. dont yank the lead, the aim is just to guild him in but trying to do with out force or you might end up with a spit. he will get the idea. once he know where he should be then you can give a little more length or retrieve. it might take a while but it should work out for you. have a quick think. if your misses wants you to look as something in the shop window what would y

First time using crow decoys
activeviii replied to RogerTheCat's topic in Pigeon Shooting & Decoying
great start there. a flapper i find is the killer for the, i have used the rotary, starting with hyper flaps(homemade) then replacing with dead birds as and when i shoot them. a floater or two as well. you need to use their sharp eyes against them and get movement in the pattern so they look at the movement rather than you. so dont put anything that moves in front of your hide as it can draw there eye to any slight movement from you. keep at it and enjoy ATB Phil -
Hello Rod. Very good offer you are giving here, better still is how simple an idea it seams. if you scold the birds first does it mean you better wear a waterproof suit or would a good leg swing of the bird draw enough water off to allow for am easy pluck. all the best Phil

Anyone around the gloucester area. my 2 butchers don't want at the moment and freezer is full so need a game dealer to collect or someone close that i can deliver to.

there is still a closed season if your shooting for sport. if your shooting them because their 'vermin' then fill your boots so to speak. I have just been trying to sort this out with my FLO as i need to move some on, i cant get near them with shotgun, they take off and come back when I'm not there. FLO told me that they are out of season so i cant shoot them anyway, so i had to tell him he needs to go and check it out as there now on the general licence as vermin.. i spoke to SACS about it as i need to shoot with FAC. i was told that as long as i have 'vermin' and not 'ground vermin'

pineapple works if its his own he is eating. this will help with him in the kennel but if its other dogs cr4p then he needs to know its not cool to eat it. i used a ball with an inch hole in it. when he goes near turnouts then you need to time it right as its ok to sniff it but not to taste it. as soon as his mouth opens to eat it you need to throw that ball hard at him. the hole makes it whistle and will take the power out of it as well. make sure you shout NO at him just as the ball is about to go near him. you will only need to do this a couple of times before he gets the message. then you

Leupold mark 4 6-24x60 m1 scopes,near new
activeviii replied to cassa46's topic in Optics and Night Vision
I think you need to be a little less misleading and tell the punters that this is a copy of the Leupold. if i remember rightly, Leupold dont or havent made a 6-24x60 MK4 Counterfeited Leupold Mark 4® riflescopes: In general, most of the scopes appear to originate from Hong Kong (People’s Republic of China), and have “Leupold Mark 4†laser engraved on the bottom of the turret in a silver etch, while the black ring on the objective is etched in white and does not include the name “Leupoldâ€. The scopes also do not bear the Leupold medallion, a mark all Leupold scopes will alwa -
Only one person can answer this and thats your FLO. give them a ring and see what they say, just have a good reason and you should be ok. saying that each force seams to be differant, one might say on renewal but another might say after 12 months with good reason. make the call is your best bet. Phil.

Taken from sporting shooter> Security on the move The basic rule is again to take every reasonable precaution. If you are going to travel a lot with your gun, then lockable storage in the car is a good idea. You shouldn't leave a complete gun unattended in a car. If you have to leave it in a car, either remove the bolt or fore-end and take it with you, so the gun cannot be fired. Always keep it hidden if you can. It's a good idea always to keep the gun in its slip as well. If you have a car alarm, make sure it's on, and obviously lock the car! Generally though, it's best

i had the same sort of problem last year. I have a good working lad, all black cocker with a lot of field trial in his line. i was asked if i would allow him on a 50/50 show/working cocker bitch. after a little thought about it and a chat with my lads breeder, i decided not to wreck his blood lines and to keep them pure to the working breed so i have turned down the offers.
