  1. i few people i know have bought them and then sold them and gone back to the good old flocked shells. same goes for the sillosocks. they all work on the right day but the shell seams to be the one that still works the best. Phil.
  2. teach the hold command first. keep doing the hold until he will sit and hold what every your using. once the hold command is there then try it at meal times but instead of putting the dummy in mouth you put the dummy on floor in front of dog and then with the food bowl in hand you crouch and see if he is willing to bring the dummy to you for his food. if not then put the dummy in mouth and tell to hold. take a few steps back and call dog to you whilst he is holding dummy, if he drops it then you put it back in him mouth. once he brings it to you then you give him his feed. he will get the mess
  3. My lad is from dando drewid and Maesydderwen, sorry bad spelling, he is very easy to train as some things, some times we think he has been here before in a previous life, there are the odd thing that makes his a pain in the bum as time but he is always keen to learn and always tries. the only regret i have was not buy two at the same time as he is a good looking lad. i just waiting for the next mating in order to get another but when that will be i dont know. Phil.
  4. had a search but it didnt come up. was it mike shaws pups? Im looking for another cocker to bring on for next year. i rushed the one i have now and put faults into it so trying to iron them out now. I like cockers as there great little characters and no two are alike. Edward martin siad it right.' a cocker is a little person, a springer, well its just a springer really' Phil.
  5. read the sticky post at the top of this section please matey, you must add prices to the post.
  6. plus you need to add in to the equation that you not next to the tin being shot at and if you are then you shouldn't be so what you have to add is the time it take for the sound, of the bullet hitting the tin can, to come back to your ears. this adding more time. Phil
  7. If im on the water the a belt with different loads in differant places. if roost shooting then i use a cartridge bag as i can put it down or just have it over the shoulder with 50 carts in it. if its a bit of ruff shooting with the dog then a handful in pocket will do. when in a hide shooting pigeons then i use an accessory pouch that the carp fishermen use. i and leave one in the car and one in the hide with me, they hold about 150 carts each. i also have 2 other belts but i only use them for the Rambo shots of me and a dead wee beastie Phil.
  8. I use the castration band on the top and bottom of pole but on the bottom i put 30mm of fish tank type tube on first then hick the bottom line on it and then band it on tight. i put two turns of tape on the bottom on the pole to stop the tube falling off. when setting the net its just a case of push into the ground and the bottom will slide up and sit in the right place, then when picking it up i just slide the tube back to the tape. some of the ground i work is sandy so the Poles go deep but other land is clay and only goes in a few inches. hence the reason to have the bottom line able to
  9. This close enough? Saw him up a glide about 200mtrs away so i walked up a little closer and sat the dog up, i walked closed and lent on a fence post to take a photo. quick squeak with the lips and it came flying in, he stopped and looked at the dog that was sat 10 mtrs away from me. in the photo the fox is 20 foot from me and still running. it stopped about 6 foot from me but i panicked and took a crap photo. seen a few around in the day and they tend to be more bold it seams. shame i can take the gun on this land in the day, i can only night shoot it. Phil.

  11. If you read some of this persons posts i think you might find, by they talk, that it is a women trying to talk how she thinks that people on here talk. flipping eck, i cant type.lmao. read some of the post about fox cubs and rabbits that this person has asked about. in the way they talk it shows its a woman that knows very little about THL members that is trying to come across as a hunting man. nope its a woman.
  12. Retracted after reading other of your posts and others think your fishy  .

  14. tesco's. he is not a working dog but a gun dog. a working dog in there mind is a guard dog or sniffer drug type. so a gun dog is a shooting companion. so what the differance between walking him in the country with a gun or a stick. if you say he might get shot then the one that has shot him is at fault and coughs up. if its you that shoots him then either you shouldn't have a gun or the work hasn't been put in to the dog.lol. I have basic pet insurance and then my SCAS covers him if he was to run into the road whilst out on a shoot or causes an accident whilst working. Phil.
  15. what do you think your knee is for. as it jump you give it the knee, after it falls on its arse a few times it will think twice about it. mines great as he will not jump up at me unless i tell it to but for some reason he jumps up at blokes and his paws are right in their nuts. well i tell them every time but they dont listen so tuff.lmao.
  16. hiya, he is under the gun with me most days, even if its just a walk around the farm and the odd pigeon over head. he had had a few days in the hide on the pigeons with me. flushed 4 ducks this winter for me and retrieved from water in the snow after, 4 shots, 4 ducks and all tasted great. he has flushed the pheasants for me and the odd woodcock but them i have left be as i like to see the woodcock. done a days picking up with him but he isnt sure about the pheasant but in time he should come around like he does on the pigeons. he comes out on the foxes with the 222 and on the rabbits with
  17. 22lr have a few quirks you need to look into. hmr do as well to some extent. ammo and cleaning are to faults. first, dont clean the barrel of a 22lr, it likes it dirty only clean the bolt and pin, leave the bore alone. second, ammo. differant barrels like differant ammo. pity you aren't closer to me as i would have sorted out 10 of each differant make and you could test rather than buying different types like i did to start with. same more RFD don't do a random box for setting up LR's my best group is with eley hollow xtras but was told they dont make them any more, ther
  18. Couple of my lad. he is only 17 months old and still learning but he is such a character' every day he makes me laugh about something. just hope the next one is as well behaved as Teague. Phil
  19. love my U2, been the best semi yet. was looking at changing it but there was nothing that felt the same or handles 65mm carts in a lighter load like the Beretta does. i had a browning hunter gold before and that was a good un but 70mm shells needed for it but then it was a 3.5" for the wildfowling. there is a webley and scott 810 over on pigeonwatch for £250. i was going to have it for my lad but he wanted a 20g £250 plus your RFD fees and its a good semi. nothing to do with me by the way.haha Phil
  20. same as you do for all the other training. if you have got the sit, stay and recall then its easier. if dogs off lead and you call him and he come then just add the whistle in as well. when your out doing training or even at home then just add the whistle in to the command. when you say sit, add the whistle to the end. all the same as the voice commands but you are using the whistle as well. after a bit you can use either the whistle or voice. but it does take time. Phil.
  21. i carry two type you blow and a u-caller. somedays i cant get them in with the foxcaller.uk so if theres wind or i just need charlie a little closer then the wam is used. if nothing is coming then the remote u-caller comes out and i start playing screaming rabbit toons at 50 yards. if that dont work then i go home.

  23. Fook the anti's, we have Hunting Life forum we will argue amongst are selves and then let the anti's finish us off at the end. next you'll get someone saying that it was a poor shot because the tree might have been hurt. I'm not getting in to it as its stupid. Nice shot by the way.lol
