  1. bugger, mine the opposite, heals off lead but on lead he pulls a little. i was told that he must know that when i say heal it means he walk at my side. so from a standing start with dog on left, as soon as i swing my left foot forward and the dog starts to move i say heal. then if he is in the right place as my foot touches the floor on my second step of left foot then he gets told that hes good. it is starting to work so i think im getting there. taken 3 moths so far. but, i can let him off the lead and tell him to go play. then call him back and say 'heal' he will walk at my side until i
  2. My Browning gold Hunter was a 3 1/2" auto wish i hadnt sold it as it was a very nice gun. I only did one fox with it and that was at about 35yrds with 56g no1. one to the head as it was running at us. it just dropped, no messing, no twitching, just plain old DEAD.hehe. changed my auto now to a U2 3" auto but i know that this box of 56G's will see night light again soon. Phil
  3. i have the Brattonsound 4/5 Gun Cabinet. the shop i bought it from said that it was the heavier gauge metal so it would comply with the regs. so im hoping the FLO will agree. if i can get a way with a cheap £15 digi safe then that will be grand. i will have a good.....ish read of the homeoffice publication. thanks all Kind regards Phil
  4. Is there a cheaper way of sorting this out. I have only just bought a new 5 gun cabinet for my shotguns. now, after a lot of thought, i have decided to apply for a hmr and lr. i need locking cabinet for the bolts and ammo but it cant be kept in my gun cabinet as it has no top locker. can i use one of these digital safes you use for your money and passports. you know the ones that Aldi sell for £25. Im on a tight budget and it will be to tight if i have to change cabinets again. whats the law and how do i do this please. thanks all Phil
  5. my cocker is now 6mths best thing since sliced bread. not a day goes by with out him having me in stitches. so loving but to far up my bum at times. (house dog) sitting, god i know what you mean. he can sit nicely but then he falls in the hole that hes just dug with his tail, it moves so fast that he just cant sit on it. cracks me up. not had springers so cant answer on that one. yes there is a difference in lines, when looking for one i did my home work and was told loads by breeders, i soon learnt not to listen to them, they want to sell there pups. instead i read books, dv

  11. I was in the same boat not so long ago. took me a year before i sorted out what i wanted to do. 6 mths to find the best route and then 6 mths to find the right dog. I looked at a part trained and full train but as i have to young lads and cockers can be a bit touchy i wasn't willing to take the risk. also a dog more so than a bitch as the bitch can be more possessive over things. this is was all information i had read and had been told to watch for by a lot of breeders, trainers and gamekeepers. because of this i went for a pup so it can bond as a family dog and then, when the time is
  12. I can put you in touch with a guy with new pups. 1 week old. he is one of the dog trainers at the dog training group. good honest guy with good honest dogs. guiting power area. 13. £38 for the two lots of jabs as well as a welcome pack, worming tablet and frontline flea treatment. so was happy about that but then phoned lastweek as puppy had runny bum and vomiting, all i got was that they where full but i could either wait until morning or come in as an emergency. i phoned another vet and was in straight away. i thing i will just register with all the vets in my area and then phone for the best advice and the cheapest then just go the that one.hehe
  14. just see how things go, at worse you'll have someone to talk to in between pigeons coming it. you never know his hide might be better so you could pop over for a coffee. hehe. wait and see, no point in getting wound up on not knowing the truth. if this other one does start up with silly business just tell him to share your hide if he likes as it will save him the hassle of building himself one. showing your not bothered will just making him think twice. if this does work then return the favour ext time you bump into him. two can play that game regards Phil.
  15. sounds like a good dog to round up your shot pheasant's Coat.........Got.....Gone. Phil

  18. Yep! same here. was st up by 7am and the first ones came in at 8.30am. bit behind on the first shot of the morning but saved plucking his tail end. on the flapper with that bird but i had to stick some tail feathers back in first.lol. then the rotary battery died and that was that. big flocks just swaying a round but i notice a bit of a pattern and i was 300 yrds away from a wire fence. stayed where i was until 10am but only one more bird in the bag so i packed up and took just the flapper and bouncer along with a net and gun over to the fence and just sat on the floor against the fence

  21. cows products are not good for dogs as they can not digest the lactose and all you get is an other runny bum. you might get away with it as some dogs might tolerate a small amount. a google search of cows milk for dogs ill confirm this. if a dogs gut suffers anything like i do with milk then no wall would i give it. i was told by a mate that he gave his dog milk every night until the dog was 18mths old, ok the dog is a best of a lab but a good puppy food would have given the same as once a dog has been weaned it cant digest cows milk. Goats milk has no lactose and is kinder on
  22. same happened to my cocker pup a few weeks ago. vet said it could have been a mouldy stick he had played with from after the floods. he gave him a jab, steroid i think he said, to help stop the pup wanting to poo all the time as every ten minutes he was trying to go, all that was coming out was red watery mess. this worked a treat and pup was holding himself together quite well. he said it can be very common in cockers and that we should get some kaolin in the house and if it happens again to give him 2.5ml, it will turn his poo white but soon be back to normal. the kaolin was from th

  24. How does the moderater work as all th ones ihave looked at, when over the barrle, are tight onto the end of the barrle. with one on a rimmy or air rifle it is just on the end. has anyone looked inside. hows it made up and are there holes in the barrel. reason im asking is i have a single barrle 12g and a 410 bolt on its way. i have a full workshop with lathes and mills so was going to look at making, but if i have to do anything with barrle then i will leave it.
  25. Im Not getting involved in anyway as i dont know the in's n out's but i think that paypal can only get back for you the money that is in the paypal account. they can not take money from the other persons bank account. i have been stunk before. the police can charge with theft by deception but it is hard to prove and we all know that they only like easy cases. you can get a free 30min chat with a solicitor but law so you can weigh up your options with them or a visit to the citizen advice bureau. someone, back in the thread said take it on the chin, NO WAY, if your out of pocket th
