  3. I have got to question where you get you percentages from? Wont the genes be split 50/50 between both parents? All your other points make good sense though. Sorry, i think i should have written that from Reading, listening and talking to the guys/gails in the know that know a million times more than me, it has been said that only around 30% of the dogs gene will go into his offspring. the rest comes from the bitch.
  4. why is it the dog that people go on about. because dogs get used in trails as they dont have seasons so they dont shut down like a bitch does. Only around 30% of the dogs genes go in to the put. 70% is from the bitch. dont, is its a first time cocker owner, go for a loaded FTCH/FTW you will have your work cut out and not get the best out of the pup. try and take a pup that is keeper breed that can do a full seasons work. field trial dogs dont do as much work as a keeper-ed dog, fact. they only get sent for a few birds that the trainer wants and then the proper dogs have to sweep the shoot
  5. Beretta have been around for years and have stood the test of time. hatsun have to offer the 3 year or no one would buy them. i dont know anyone with one that hasnt had a problem or two with theirs. buy the Beretta and if no good then sell it on for the same, if not more, than you paid for it. Phil
  6. I think it was disgusting, shooting foxed with water, you might have its eye out, then you would be knackered when it comes to looking for the pair of eyes in the lamp light. I thought you came across very well. i knew it had to be edited as you hit charlie with one bullet.lmao. Phil.
  7. Gezz thats cheap. for that moey its got to be worth trying a box or two.
  8. Top Offer Clint I wouldnt say no to being put in the draw please. Phil.
  9. Have a look at the opticron range. i have the Oregon 8x42 and for £100 im more than happy with them. waterproof, clear optics, good at dawn/dusk and a very good, long, UK warranty, should you need it. a good friend had some swaros and after using mine for a few days he sold his, bought the same as min and pocketed £700 towards a new rifle. says it all really.
  10. sounds like hes picked up a thorn. go get it checked if it were me.
  11. i bought mine on ebay. i dropped the wattage down to 75watt and you cant notice the differance in brightness but the battery lasts longer i keep the 100watt up the handle Phil

Had my physiotherapy today and left hand has 'Grip' now but I still can't lift anything with it. I am booked for an Eye operation on the 25 Oct. 13. If you can post the s200 air rifle then i will take it please. I'm sorry to hear the reason for you having to sell up. life's crap at times. I bust my back up 10 years ago and now dependant on pain killers, i cant do as much as i use to but we do what we can, when we can. All the best to your future dullahan. kind regards Phil.
  14. One of these is what you need matey. http://www.cluson.co.uk/productsMain.aspx?CI_ID=353 I have one on my deben lamp but its only good to 50w so i bought one of the above for the 240 blitz. im going to butcher it so i can put it in the handle but for now it works as is. Phil.
  15. first time out? only 16mths so excitement has got to him a little. dont stress about it to much yet. if you can get some cold game then get him on that just to calm him down a little. i was worried about my lad when he first tried feather and he crushed the chest in. i left it for a little while and tried on pigeon. first couple he crushed but as soon as he realised there was another retrieve he soon switched. it didn't stop him catch birds though. he caught a poult a few weeks back but release with no other problems. chill with him and see how he goes.
  16. I think they do learn. i have been shooting them off my roof for years, but when i start taking a one a day then they stop landing on my roof and just go next door instead. i have been without an air rifle for a little while and now they have started landing on my roof again. so in answer i would say most definitely yes Phil.
  17. soak in salted water overnight and then fresh water and salt into a stock pot, bring water and rabbits to boil and then simmer for 2 1/2 hours. i put a bouquet garni of herbs in with a few peppercorns as well. any thank that dont look right i just cut off and bin. Phil
  18. same as masterhunter. only other thing i do is put them in a cup of warm soapy water as i find they stretch easier. the bottom line i put over 30mm of fishtank hose first then slide onto the fibreglass pole, wrap a few turns of electrical tape at the bottom of the pole to stop it falling off. when in in sort ground the bottom of the net slides up. just have to slide them back down when packing away, thats where the tape at the bottom come in. Phil
  19. i was covered with county cover last year but it was just that, cover. this year i went with SACS as i liked the idea of being insured for other thing and not just shooting, my dog is cover is he causes damage while out working. i also have back up if i need a good person to fight in my corner when the FLO will not let me have 400 acres cleared for a 222. i will stick with SACS for now as im very happy with what they have done for me. Phil
  20. Thank you kindly sir for coming over today. When you left i went up and finished what we started. i have the ten ready to go and test. i got use the the feel and sound of the primer seating and the sound of the bullet when it is down the right depth. even the loading of the powder with out spilling i have sorted. thanks again NJC. yous the man. all the best Phil.
  21. tried a few things in the past but now i just spent a few pound and ended up with the standing tri pod. their adjustable in height so i can go from sitting upto standing at 6'6". i can use as bi or tri-pod. i got fed up of getting use to a set then they brake and then have to sort again. in the dark with a twitchy charlie, the last thing i want is noise and hassles. buy right, buy once Phil
  22. Top Job NJC110381. i have to go get some copper cleaner as well but wife wants garden sorted so spent the day doing some of it. i had two sunday night, shot one and then as i was taking the bush off there was one sat there watching. had to call in over the boundary but it came in the end. saw 3 more from that same spot and then two more in the next field but they wouldn't come to play. bullet straight throw both of them. as soon as i run out the ppu im not going to use soft points anymore as i had one ricochet off. midland soon so with guidance i will load up there. wife not sure if s
  23. i was hoping to go with something like the A-Max as i can get then posted to me but untl i t some im not going to bulk buy any. I did try some 40gr a little while ago and just couldnt get on with them, i think, if the grey matter remembers rightly, they were hornady, in a red box. any empty cases that are going beggin would be good as well. jamie... are those head the A-max ones that are in and unmarked box by any chance thanks for the link Clint. one thing, in the chart, when i click on the 222 rem it comes up with .224. is this right? Rio... thanks for the input. s
  24. Im just trying to get into home loads as im fed up of paying silly money for ammo, going out and re-zeroing to find either the tikka doesn't like the round or i go back to shop to find they have run out and saying they cant get any more for a month or so. because of this i have been advised to start a basic home load and once i get it right i can go and buy the press and other things needed. until then i have a lee loader but i need to find a bullet that will work with the Tikka. i dont want to buy 100 bullets to find that the rifle dosnt like them and i have to go buy another 100 to t
  25. sort of. i did 21 day straight on the pigeons and then did the back in and a cold so been laid up since.lol. been out to zero a couple of rifles but told to give up until i have cleaned the.....clean clean, thats woman's work... i was going to ask her to do them but im scared to. how have you been. I would of just popped the pin on the trigger mech and sent that to them, they can then replace firing pin and spring and job done. Phil.
