  1. There is a bit about it here. A 14-year-old boy reported many acute episodes, over the last two years, of rhinorrhea, sneezing, nasal itching, asthma and oedema to the face and lips. On his last visit, two days had passed from the start of the last episode, and bronchospasm, nasal obstruction, and rhinorrhea were still present. A smear of nasal mucus, stained by a modified Papanicolaou method (8), showed a dense layer of eosinophils. The acute episodes relapsed after a few days of appropriate pharmacological treatment. Subsequently the patient was skin-prick tested with a large panel of po

  11. Dogs are really quite interesting because there are so many varieties / breeds of dogs that do different applications instinctively. One application that we could say for sure is instinct is hunting. Yet the hunting instinct manifests it's self in many different forms from breed to breed. If we agree that the wolf was the ancestor of dogs and all the different types of hunting that different breeds do had to be taught, as they vary from the way a wolf would hunt, would the fact that different breeds now hunt in different ways naturally be an indication that the taught hunting has now become em
  12. They're known as being independent hard headed b*****ds. And exactly how many have you trained? I have had two, and not had any problems, once I knew how to train them. If your not comfortable letting a dog work up to half a mile away from you and know that you still have the dog under control, then they are not for you. A lot of people think they can train them like a spaniel or a lab and it does not work, it goes against every instinct the dog has. TC You misinterpret my comments as criticism. I've not trained any, but I know people who have. Like you say, they can't be trained like

  14. Simple question, with I suspect a complicated answer. Can a dog pass on learned knowledge / behaviour in it's genes? TC
  15. Out Of Town could never be repeated in the same format, as most of his reminisces were about pre war rural England. There are not many alive today that would be able to present such a program. That said, such a program that honestly dealt with the balances that need to be kept in the countryside today could do nothing but good IMHO. Edited to add: Nothing like the countryfile program I said an honest view. TC
  16. The only thing I can say is, Sir you are blessed. TC
  17. The park is in the grounds of an old private house. Park Howard there are so many trees that I do not know the names of, next time I go I will concentrate on the trees I do not know the names of and perhaps you can all help me. TC
  18. When they came to Wales I know the two people they went out with, Ade Williams is the chairman of The hawking Club, bald head and beard, nice chap and knows how to talk a good job. Been out with him quite a few times ferreting for the Hawking club on field meets. The last meet I ferreted for them we were walking past a warren and he had his black and white GWP with him the dog would only work pheasants and would ignore rabbits, anyhow the warren looked like it could be occupied to me, something about the steaming $hit at the entrance, that no one else seemed to notice, give it away. 20. Walking around the local park today I came across a tree I am not familiar with, I thought it may be an English Lime? I asked the gardener and he did not know. Anyway some photos, Some of the leaves were really quite large 10" across at the widest part. TC
  21. Had a look around the local park today where there are horse chestnut, and red flowered chestnut trees. The red chestnut were showing some signs of the leaf miner, Less than 50 yards away there was a Horse chestnut that looked just fine. TC

If the forecast for your area is the same as ours, good luck. 47 mph winds forecast here. But this is the time of year to use the 4" 4z mesh deadly on half to three quarter grown rabbits. Enjoy. Edited to add: Take a long handled screwdriver with you, cos the ground is bound to still be like Iron. TC
