You can start a long net the exact same way but just keep knitting row after row, till you have your desired length of netting then just cut off the ring. TC

You say you have been there 8 years, and the house was repointed when you bought. So it's safe to assume that whatever caused the damage in the first place happened before that. My guess would be a long hot summer causing ground shrinkage, that started the cracking and water penertating the cracks and freezing has made it worse. Just a guess though. TC
-
Do any of the other houses nearby have cracks? If not, it could well be a water leak and what you are seeing is accumalitive damage. It could be the hard frosts we had this winter, water has got into the cracks and made them look worse than they actually are. TC

I am not a builder, just a brickie so my opinion is based on some experience. I would say that you have subsidence in the foundations. Sorry. TC

There's a woman driving a black BMW with private plates in front of you and she is oblivious to anything going on around her, cos shes on the phone. TC

As the above title. Don't you just love it when................and your favourite thing that narks you. Like, I know the dog spewed, fact! I got it from a mate of a mate, whos brother-in-laws sister was going out with a chap who heard it in the pub one night. Add your own. TC

You were right. if they had braked and still hit the dog and not stopped there were a Twat. TC

Sorry about your loss, it bad when that happens. I have to ask though why was the driver a twat? It was not his fault, I don't know as I was not there, and I presume neither were you. But it could be that the driver never even seen the dog? TC

i think about 60yd of net maybe a bit more lol it was around 15ft of net per needle i did it 15 meshes deep wish i gone 14 as it looks canny deep with the selvage on if i make any more i will go 14 meshes used 12z nylon for selvage i might use 10z if i do another i am still happy with it just need some poles now What size mesh is it? A net is at it's best in my opinion around the 60 inches mark stretched for a 4.25" mesh thats 14 meshes with the 2 half selvedge meshes or for a 4" mesh (which is a little small for a spun poly net as the twine does not stretch like nylon) 15 meshes includ

The ones who have the sense not to post pictures of criminal activities have no need to be reminded just how easy it is to find a person off the net. It's the mindless morons who do not understand and IMHO never will understand what the conciquences of their photos are. Some are a bit cleverer that most and try to use loopholes in the law to get round it, but even those loopholes are not to be taken for granted. TC

Fell asleep a little later than usual last night, but been awake since 3.30 thinking about this thread. TC
-
It's not Hi-jacking the thread at all, it's called thread development your post shows that to gain an advantage you need to put the work in. That is just as valid as any passage in a book. TC

Too true, to be an effective hunter, no matter what your quarry, you have to know it first. TC

I read once that Albert Einstein needed at least 10 hours sleep a night. Yet Thomas Eddison hardly ever went to bed as he claimed sleeping was a waist of time. He did however take naps during the day, he would sit on a stool with a spoon in his hand, at the moment he fell asleep his grip would relax on the spoon and it would fall on to a tin vessel placed between his feet. He claimed that the time it took for the spoon to leave his hand and reach the plate was all the sleep he needed? Till the next nap. My sleep pattern is exactly the same as Socks I hit the sack and am out like a light bu

I grew up reading Fred Taylor in the Shooting Times. 2/3p back in 1969 went up to 2/6 in 1970. I met him twice when he became the president of The Hawking Club. Once at a Merlin field meet and the other time was a barbeque on a fishing like, where he showed us how to cook trout the Inuit Indian way. The man was a legand and to meet him was one of my lifes ambitions and sporting highlights. TC

Something odd about that seller. If this is the net you bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RABBIT-QUICKSET-LONG-Net-FERRETING-PURSE-NETS-WITH-BASKET-50-YARDS-8z-Nylon-/161010598597?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item257cfac2c5 It states it is from Stoke on trent with £16 postage Yet the other listing from this seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RABBIT-QUICKSET-LONG-Net-FERRETING-PURSE-NETS-BASKET-100-YARDS-8z-Nylon-/310617193532?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D15011%26meid%3D7460712871021313064%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D

When you say a 3" mesh do you mean you used a 3" board to make the net? Nice bit of work there. TC

None as far as I am concerned, but I have been using them for a long time. Others will tell you different. One of the major plus points for me is that you do not get line twist with the Norweigion type needle of which the Lumis is a copy. Another factor is that you do not have to pull the knots tight on the heel of the needle you can use the top or heel and both work well, saves the hands. Have a look at this short video watch how when I throw the loop to make the knot it just lays flat in a tidy loop. That shows that there is no twist in the twine when you have twist in the twine the loop
