  1. I have only ever had one dog that was bought in ready made. All my other dogs have been pups. Circumstances dictated many years ago that I had to get rid of two dogs out of the three I had. Spaniel, had from a pup and working to a good standard. A 6 year old collie cross taking 20 rabbits a night regular bought as a two year old, and a ACD x 12 months old, had from 8 weeks old, still green and had a lot to learn but the potential was there. I gave away the spaniel and the collie x. The Spaniel was hard to part with and it really hurt, the collie x did not have the same effect on me when I

    For Banter

I have started this thread not to spoil the other chaps thread. I dont know if this is going to be of any use to you. The only nets I have made for hares was out of Agouties purse net twine. I have used it and had no problem with it, albeit one hare I have caught with it. The net I made was a square meshed gate net. I think I made it 15 ft long by 10ft wide and it had a 5inch square mesh. If you can get hold of it, Glen Walters made a video on gate nets and how to use and make them. I seen it many years ago and thought it was excellent. Sorry I could not help any further. TC
  5. When you take the buzzard to the vets get him to make a statment of the birds condition. As to if the bird could survive in the wild at the present. TC
  6. First off,16 meshes is too deep for a long net. the net needs to be around the 60 inches in depth. with a 4" mesh 2" board that would be 14 meshes for the body of the net and a selvedge row each side of the net. The selvedge is put onto the net for a couple of reasons the main one being that it is a thicker twine than the body of the net so stops the meshes wearing out so quickly as they slide along the lines. The easiest way I have found of adding the selvedges is to place the net on a pole then add the selvedges to one side and then turn the net around and add the other side.
  7. Matt the Rat is a highly respected pest control operative with a vast knowledge on all things to do with pest control. However, if he sees photos that he does not like, he has no problem contacting the relevant authorities and showing them the photos just to clarify his thoughts on the matter. TC A grass then? I would not say a grass. As as far as I am aware he did not publish the why's and wherefors of the photos. I would like to add that I can publish copied text of his posts, but not the photos as they were deleted once Matt had said that he had forwarded them, and the authorities had ex

  10. Like socks, I though my mother was a witch as she always knew when I had been riding the horses. If there was mischief to be made when I was a kid, I was into it. Like the day I was about four and supposed to be playing in the street, but had wondered off exploring as usual. I ended up down at a chapel a few streets away, the chapel had a wall around it and the milkmen used to store the crates of empty milk bottles up against the wall for collection by the dairies. I had taken a few crates into the chapel and was using them as grenedes and tossing them at people going past and ducking back dow

  13. If they wanted to repeal the hunting act, they would do so with a threeline whip. Where any tory MP has to vote for the repeal. All they stated before the election was they would allow a free vote without the whip. Go Figure. TC
  14. Left wing, right wing, It does not really make any difference. We are all human so we are all greedy by some definition. You will always have the have's, and have-nots. The have's want more and funnily enough so do the have-nots. One thing I will say though. " No matter what your station in life? There are no pockets in shrouds". TC
  15. I would not like to "shell" out that amount of money just for an omlette. If they turn out to be L Sussex he will end up with egg on his face. TC
  16. A few years ago I used to sell home made bird tables on ebay, to be honest I used to sell a lot, then ebay changed the way the search engine worked and every garden centre that sold bird tables was shown in the search results. Kiss of death for the small seller!! I used to sell the same table but one was wall mounted and the other free standing. Free standing. The base. Wall, fence or shed mounted. These days I just use the runner beans sticks throughout the winter. Put the fat balls on one end and the seed feeders on the other. That way it tends to keep
